This Sony STRDH130 stereo receiver features an AM/FM radio with 60 station presets, so you can easily find and enjoy your favorite radio programming. Speaker A/B switching helps simplify operation.
I bought this unit to replace an Insignia NS-R2001, and I am thrilled with the switch. The sound quality is much better, and the annoying hiss from the speakers goes away when I actually play music through it, unlike the Insignia, which had a constant hiss. Its overall build quality is great, and it features a 3.5 mm stereo input, exclusive for its class. It is also significantly smaller than the Insignia. Most of its features are a bit gimmicky, like renaming inputs, but they all work like they're supposed to. I found the default equalizer settings a little off, but after turning the treble to -2 and the bass to +5 (out of 10), that it sounded wonderful. The remote is a little confusing at first, but it is capable of controlling almost any Sony product, which could be convenient if your home theater is exclusively Sony unlike mine. It should also be mentioned that this is a 270 Watt receiver, not a 200 Watt like the description says. All in all this a great product.
What's great about it: Sound Quality, 3.5 mm input, build quality
What's not so great: Cheap clip speaker connections, complicated remote
I got this receiver for my dorm room because it seemed like a good value. However I soon realized that it sends a strong hiss signal to the speakers, despite the high quality screw connections, I know its not from interference because the cable goes nowhere near other electronics. It does not do this on FM radio (I didn't check AM). I have replaced it with the Sony STR-DH130 for just $20 more and have been impressed, please see my review for that. It is definitely worth it to get a name brand and not Best Buy's generic Insignia tag.
What's great about it: Easy to use, Great FM radio reception, High quality screw speaker connections
What's not so great: Hiss sent to the speakers on any input but FM radio
