Seems flimsy

This is my third microwave in a month. It is nearly impossible to go into any store and find an array of microwaves that you can actually touch and see how they work. They are mostly in boxes that won't be opened unless you purchase them. The only brand I found that were on the shelf were shell mock-ups that didn't function, so you could not actually test them. I read the specs and the reviews and, even, the question and answers, and this unit seemed like it finally filled all my requirements. Upon taking it out of the box, however, I found the glass turntable was lighter weight and the little wheelie that turns it was, also, lighter and flimsier. The kicker is the door is even thinner and the latch button flimsier and if you close the door by the bottom corner, the top corner doesn't close. It's that light weight. I'm still searching and the jury is out whether I will keep this or not. I'm getting tired of lugging these things in and out of my apartment.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

No Light When Door Opens
on December 16, 2015

It has stunned me to find how much variation there is in microwave features. After owning microwaves for decades, I mistakenly assumed they all functioned the same. Wrong. This model (and all smaller LG microwaves) has an interior light that works when the machine is running, but goes out when you open the door. I guess if you only need a smaller unit, you deserve to get burned when you reach in to retrieve your piping hot dish or drink. And how difficult would it be to clean it on the inside, without a light? Sheer madness in the designers of this. I guess a little electric light switch took up to much room in the smaller housing. As soon as I plugged this in and discovered no light, it went straight back in the box and back to the store the next day.

No Timed Cooking
on December 16, 2015

I bought this because my mother had a Sharp that is still working after more than 10 years, but this one did not meet my expectations. The Start/+30 button starts okay, but doesn't add anything. You only get straight full minute times with the numbered buttons and the +30sec doesn't add to any of them. And there is no 'Time Cook' or 'Custom Cook' button. If you want 2 1/2 min, you have to hit the 30sec button 5 times. Quite annoying. And it's impossible to zap something for anything less than 30sec or to heat for, say, 1min40sec. Everything else is fine, but that is crazy to omit those features. The set times burned my popcorn and overheat my tea. I returned this and would not recommend it.

Good Product, Nice Price
By StacheCache from Denver
This Panasonic microwave replaces one made by GE that lasted only 7 months then suddenly quit. Best Buy did not exactly welcome me with open arms when I brought the defective unit back, until I explained a third time, this time to the store manager, that the manufacturer directed me to do so. The Panasonic unit works fine--nothing special--but it works.

Not Bad, But Not Good Either
December 8, 2015
Good appliance and nice features on keypad, but there is no light when the door is opened. If you are in your own shadow or in dim light, you can't see the inside. The light is on during the cook cycle, so why not leave it on when the door is opened? Called Panasonic and they said the larger units had that feature but not the mid-size or smaller ones. It's almost a safety feature if you can't see what you're grabbing inside. Took mine back for that reason alone.

Nice Unit, but one odd feature
December 8, 2015
I had a couple of cheapy ovens and decided to go with Sharp. My mother has had one for over 10 yrs and it's still doing well. This is a nice microwave with plenty of interior room and good features. The only annoying and odd one is that you can't custom cook by just keying in your time; i.e. 2 min and 40 sec. You only get fixed minutes of 1 thru 9 and the +30 second button does not respond once cooking has started. So, to heat my tea for 2min 30 sec, I have to hit the +30 second button 5 times. No increments of less than 30 seconds is available anywhere, and I have always used my own judgment after trial and error for what works with certain foods, etc. I am not sure if I am going to keep this one for that reason alone. Otherwise, it's a nice machine.
