Musician-Artist's Dream!
on November 26, 2015

I bought this super-sized iPad primarily for two purposes: 1. Transfer of music from sheets and books to digital format to eliminate the hassle of lugging bulky and heavy books and notebooks of sheet music to gigs and rehearsals. 2. Use with the Apple Pencil to "paint," draw, sketch. Would be great to be able to go out to various outdoor venues to do these things without having to haul pencils, paints, paper, etc. as well as dealing with the wind blowing paper around, etc.
I have ordered but not yet received the Apple Pencil, so I cannot yet speak to the usability or viability of it as a true implement of artistic expression. I am very anxious to see just what it will do, but moreover I will be interested to see how a drawing or "painting" will translate to paper when the image is printed on an inkjet printer. I wonder if it will require a high resolution printer and specialized paper.
Music looks GREAT on the iPad Pro when scanned using the "Scanner Pro" and "forScore" apps. Using a bluetooth "AirTurn" foot pedal with the iPad Pro through "forScore" enables the instrumental musician to wirelessly turn pages of music hands-free which is enables a seamless performance. The musician's hands can concentrate on playing the instrument. What a concept!
In addition to the wonderful experience of viewing music at a readable size on the iPad Pro, viewing web pages, YouTube videos, reading books, and playing games are more activities that are much more enjoyable due to the large screen size, sharp resolution and fast processing speed. I had the original iPad, the iPad 2, the iPad Air and most recently the iPad Air 2. I also have had all but the latest iPad Mini. I currently have the iPad Mini 3 for Verizon. The long and the short of it is that the regular-sized iPads were too small for viewing music comfortably. This iPad Pro is THE ticket for that! I traded in the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3 WiFi to get this iPad Pro. Yes, I took a beating on the trade, but I am ecstatic with the Pro. It, along with the fabulous Logitech wireless keyboard/cover, make the perfect rig. I hardly ever use my 11" and 13" MacBook Air laptops anymore. The sound through the 4 speakers is a nice upgrade over the dual-speaker systems of the other iPads, however still if you want true hi-fi stereo sound you should use a good quality stereo headset.
I kept the Mini 3 VZW because I love it for throwing in my purse for use when I am out of the house and away from my home WiFi. It is a great little tablet.
And now the one con: The first iPad Pro I purchased would not "wake up" upon charging it after its first use. I had no idea what to do to get it to function. I was very disappointed that such an expensive device as this pooped out on me the day after I bought it! I took it back to Best Buy where they told me that "According to Apple some of these do that." It is a known issue, and if you have this problem you just perform a "hard reset" by simultaneously holding down the home button and the power button. I asked if I could exchange it for another Pro because I felt that I shouldn't be having a problem with a brand new piece -- especially at this price. In addition, once I have a problem with a tech device I will never trust it again. It makes me wonder what other problems/bugs might exist with that particular unit. These devices are highly complex, and there are a gazillion things that can go wrong with them. Best Buy's support is fabulous! Even though they were able to get the iPad to function by doing the hard reset, they understood my trust issues, and they happily exchanged it for another -- the only one in stock between the two Best Buys in my town! Lucky me! I am happy to report that I have not had any problems with the replacement iPad Pro. In fact I am writing this review on it -- using the wonderful Create Logi keyboard case by Logitech . I can type just as fast, accurately and comfortably on this keyboard as I can on my three MacBook laptops -- all of which I love. The Logi keyboard has backlit keys -- a feature not available on the Apple iPad Pro keyboard case. I HIGHLY recommend the Logi -- and it is $20 less than the Apple one. I will be writing a review of this keyboard case as well.
Bottom line: I LOVE the iPad Pro! I highly recommend it -- especially to fellow musicians who will love its beautiful sharp display and ease-of-use with the Scanner Pro and forScore apps. Its great resolution is easy on the eyes, and I don't get the eye fatigue that I experience when using devices with smaller, lower resolution screens. Get it! You won't be disappointed!

Worth Every Penny!!

I had been looking at this vacuum for some time, but was hesitant to "pull the trigger" on the purchase because of the price. It didn't look like I'd get much bang for my buck.
I finally decided that since I could return it if it didn't suit my needs it was time to give it a try. I bought it to use on my bare tile kitchen and bathroom floors daily to keep up with the dusty conditions where we live (windy desert) in addition to the cat hair and dust bunnies that seem to come from nowhere.
Due to some of the reviews I had read plus its diminutive size, and because of many previous experiences with various small portable cordless vacuums I didn't expect much in the way of battery life or suction power. I found, however, that when I use the "Normal" power setting I get more than enough running time to get the jobs done. The suction power is GREAT on both the "Normal" and "Turbo" settings.
The kicker is that this little vacuum is fabulous for plush carpeting too! It is great for the carpeted stairs (all 17 of them!), the carpeted cat tree, and all carpeted rooms. I was astonished by the amount of "stuff" my $1,500 Kirby left behind. It was sucked right up by this wonderful "little" cordless Dyson!
Another big plus is its maneuverability. The floor brush swivels around tight corners "As Shown On TV!"
The only drawback -- if you could call it that -- is that because this vacuum is so efficient at cleaning, I have to constantly be emptying the dirt cup! Because my house is medium-large and full of carpeting I can't vacuum the entire place on one charge, but I can alternate rooms each day. I hardly ever use the full-sized vacuum anymore. I do use a small canister vacuum to thoroughly clean out the cup and motor filter screen on the DC59 after each use to keep it in optimal condition for the next use and to reduce the allergens.
At first I was very hesitant to spend the $$$$ for this seeming one-trick pony. It is NOT a one-trick pony. It serves most of my vacuuming needs. I only wish I had bought one sooner! I just hope the battery lasts a long time and doesn't have to be replaced anytime soon. Time will tell... .
As stated above, I have had many so-called "portable" cordless vacuums over the years, and although they were substantially less expensive, none of them could hold a candle to this wonderful Dyson DC59 in terms of suction power, efficiency, ease-of-use and battery life per cleaning session. It is small-but-mighty!
Thanks, Dyson, for creating a fabulous ingenious product that makes my life easier! :-)

Hunk of Junk!

After my old HP Envy 100 began to fail I began to look for a replacement. Not having been in the printer-buying market for some time, I had no idea what is the latest and greatest. I purchased the HP Envy 7640 with great expectations. Since I had enjoyed the Envy 100 so much I figured by now HP must have made many improvements to the Envy line of printers, so this one should be a pretty good choice. WRONG!!
I am sorely disappointed with this printer! The print quality of pictures is poor. Inserting a memory card into the reader is tight! I thought I was doing something wrong because I really had to push hard to get the card into the slot. Correspondingly it is very difficult to remove the card from the reader. I had to get a pair of needle nosed pliers to (gently!) get ahold of the card to pull it out as I couldn't get ahold of it with my fingers! Very frustrating! What a concept -- keep a pair of pliers handy to extract your memory chip!
Next was my attempt to print a copy. I lifted the lid and placed the page on the glass as per usual procedure. I chose "Copy" from the menu, and the machine began to go thru its paces, then…nothing! After a couple of minutes of the twirling icon on the screen a message came up "printing cancelled" and it spit out a blank piece of paper. I lifted the lid to remove the page I had tried to copy and the printer shut down! I have tried to copy several times with the same results each time.
As for the plus features of this printer -- it prints quickly wirelessly (although noisily) via my home network from my MacBook Air. I also like the fact that the printer has two paper trays -- one for standard printer paper and a secondary tray which holds 6X4 photo paper. Very handy.
Needless to say, this printer is going back to Best Buy. I have not tried to scan with it since it won't even do the simple task of copying. I have not tried the fax function. Again, if it won't copy I don't want it regardless of whether it does all the other functions. It is a total waste of money.
Bottom line…if you need a printer capable of copying, do not buy this model.

The head phones are great. With the Bose sound you can't go wrong. I use these everyday for driving in the car and working out. Great sound and they are very comfortable and have been durable so far. Love them

While I know what you mean about the great sound while driving, however BE CAREFUL because in California it is ILLEGAL to use headphones while driving!

The thinnest iPad ever is also the most capable. It's loaded with advanced technologies, including the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi 128 GB

How an Ipad like a desktop? Can it run software like Microsoft office, Photoshop? Can it print to any printer? Can it receive and send emails and search the web?
The Best Buy stores in my town have the Microsoft Office for iPad in stock. I don't know about Photoshop. Go to the Apple App Store and type in a search for it. The iPad WILL print to most current printers which are WiFi/Bluetooth compatible. You will have to pair the iPad with the printer -- easy-peasy! If you don't know how to do this you can get Best Buy's "Geek Squad" for help in setting things up for you in your home.

Yes, you can certainly send and receive emails if you have access to the web via WiFi through some sort of internet service provider (ISP) using a modem and router. I would suggest you set up a WiFi system in your home through whatever provider you have access to. I do this thru my Cable TV provider Charter. Of course once you have a WiFi system in your home you can also search the web with the iPad.

What you CAN'T do is surf the web, send/receive emails on your iPad if you are trying to use it in a location where there is no WiFi "Hotspot" connection UNLESS you get a personal portable hotspot device from your wireless phone service carrier -- i.e. Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint, etc. This device is a small portable "box" which you connect wirelessly to your iPad by "pairing" the two devices so they can communicate with each other. OR..if you have a "smart phone" you can use it as a WiFi hotspot (for a fee) to pair with your iPad.

The iPad can do many of the same functions that a laptop or desktop does, however for some functions it is a little more limited than a laptop/desktop. I highly recommend a bluetooth keyboard case for the iPad if you are going to do a lot of text entry and "typing" on it since the touch screen virtual "keyboard" is not so great for writing using such apps as Microsoft Office and for creating manuscripts, writing lots of text messages, emails, etc. Lots of people do it, but I much prefer using a keyboard for extensive text entry,

The iPad Air 2 WiFi is a great device. With 128 GB of storage you will be able to store lots of files, pictures, music and such on it. You will enjoy it. I suggest you speak with the knowledgeable sales folks at Best Buy. They will be able to answer all your questions and talk you through the process.

Good Luck!
