Washer for a tall person

I recently bought this washer after weeks of reading reviews on all front and top loaders/ agitators vs non agitators. It had the best reviews so I purchased. I have only washed a few loads and feel the outcome is good but not great. The washer drum is HUGE! Although I don't know why because the water will only fill about a third of it at the most. I did a large load on normal and some pants came out of the washer with dry spots. I need to try other settings to see if I get a better outcome. I do know that if you are short this washer is NOT for you! I am 5'6" and can just BARELY reach the clothes in the bottom. I have to literally hang over the front of the washer to get the clothes out. Samsung needs to design a built in pull out step! The pre-soak tray in the lid hangs over the detergent/softener dispenser and prevents you from using large detergent bottles to fill the dispenser. You have to use the lid from the detergent bottle or another cup for the liquid detergent.

Are you able to add additional water to a load (to top it off) after the washer's sensor automatically stops filling the tub?
I have only had my washer for about a week but have not found how to add water to a cycle. I did a large load on normal and some of the clothing came out of the washer with dry spots.
