Compared to the original Kindle, the Paperwhite High Resolution has 62% more pixels for unsurpassed resolution, 25% better contrast touchscreen with built-in light and long battery life. The innovative built-in light evenly illuminates the screen to provide the perfect reading experience in all lighting conditions, even sunlight.

My Aunt LOVES it
on January 8, 2015
Posted by: Ryan
I purchased this as a gift for my aunt. She absolutely loves it. She used to read eBooks on her iPad, but the bright screen was tiring on her eyes and hard to read in bright sunlight. This Kindle solved that. Plus it's much more compact and light, so it's easier to take on the go for those occasional times when you want to read a few pages. I got her the official Amazon leather case for it which fits great and doesn't add too much bulk.

Compact GeForce GT 730
on December 17, 2014
Posted by: Ryan
I just purchased the card recently at my local Best Buy and can confirm it is a GeForce GT 730, not a GT 720 as claimed in the other review posted. I have installed the card and run GPU-Z to confirm the specs. The physical packaging from PNY also says GT 730 on it. The card looks identical to the one pictured. The only mistake in the listing is the "GTX" instead of GT, and a couple details on the specs page. The memory is not 400 MHz. It's 900 MHz (1800 effective) DDR3.
While not the fastest card around, it is VERY physically compact, decodes 4K video, and can handle some casual gaming of titles from a few years ago. It's a nice step-up from integrated graphics on an older machine. It also has very low power draw of around 25W max, making it a great upgrade for anyone with a slimline or small form factor PC with a low-wattage power supply.
The only negative so far is that the fan is a little bit noisy at idle. If your PC is nearly silent at idle and you are in a quiet room with no speakers/headphones in-use you might notice the fan noise.

This is GT 720 - No such card as GTX 730 - I was looking for something to replace a dead card and from description figured I was getting a new card in PNYs line up so I ordered on line. After looking at PNYs site, this card is a GT 720 with 64-bit memory bus. This card can probably just barely play the original DOOM game!

Thanks for the warning!

I saw this card and thought the same thing as you. I knew that PNY made a compact GT 720 like this, and figured Best Buy got a GT 730 version before other retailers. I assumed the 'GTX' was a typo for 'GT', but didn't think the 730 was wrong since it's in both the product page title, and the model #. The correct model number is probably VCGGT7201D3LXPB.

Power

What size power supply is needed to run this card?
The card has a max TDP (Thermal Design Power) of 25 Watts. Almost any major brand computer with an 8x PCI-E slot will run this card without issue as they are built with more than 25W of extra capacity. I've run this card on an HP Slimline with a 160W power supply without issue.

If you want to get a bit more technical, you need to know the total power draw at 100% load of all the other components in your system (CPU, RAM, hard drive(s), fans, etc), as well as the 12V power rating of your power supply and its efficiency rating. For example: a 400W power supply with a 80+ Bronze certification and a +12V rail with a 30A current rating has a max output of 12V * 30A = 350 W * 0.80 = 280W. So the power supply puts out 280W max. A high end Core i7 is typically rated for 95W or less, and other components such as RAM and drives total less than 50W, so you'd have 135W left over. This is oversimplified since power supply efficiency varies with load, and the component power numbers are just estimates, but it gives an idea of how to calculate it.
