I looked up the current sales ad like I always do, and saw that BB had a Western Digital 500 gig Sata on sale. I also checked for the same size hard drive from Seagate, and read in the specifications that it carried a 5yr warranty part & labor. Great right? A no brainer right? WD for 64.99 with a 3yr warranty or pay 10 dollars more and get a Seagate with a 5yr warranty for 74.99. So off I went to my local BB, which is a 45 min drive, but I told the sales rep why I wanted the Seagate, and he says "Oh Yeah" "Best Warranty in the Industry" all the way to the check-out counter. I trotted out to my car with a smug "yep, mission accomplished" got up this morning to install the drive, and in big white letters right on top of the box, ONE YEAR WARRANTY. Called BB, and customer service rep doesn't understand why the description says 5 yr warranty, and oh yes ...he has several Seagate drives himself, and gives me Seagate's customer service hotline, but why call, I told him I checked the serial number on their website, and sure enough, its only good until October, 2013. I'm glad I didn't just open the box, but now I have to make a phone call and explain to the person that I'm replacing the hard drive, well I da da da didn't get the right one? More time and nobody has the answer, and of course it's Sunday. Buyers BEWARE!!!
What's great about it: Thought the warranty was 5 yrs
