Upgrading your hard drive might be overlooked when your trying to get more performance out of your machine, my hard disk was clicking very loud after my HP laptop substantiated a fall while it was on. The sandisk ultra II solid state 480 fit right in and it feels like I went out and bought a whole new computer. The boot time is at least 66% faster, but that's not all. The applications load sooo much faster, file moving is crazy fast, opening up itunes happens in a flash. I didn't really think this computer would have been worth the upgrade, as it's 13 months old but it was by far one of the best upgrades I've ever done. Skip the ram upgrade if you don't really need it, you WILL notice results with this solid state.

I have many streaming devices in my home, from the Xbox one, Xbox 360, chrome cast, netgear streamer, the Roku 3 is by far the best and easiest to use. It's ultra fast and it never lags up or gives me issues. It's a win!

Great value

I really do love this HP. This is my second HP laptop. My first one I had for 5.5 years and it still works great! It's not the fastest and the second battery was done for it so I decided to get a new HP since they have done me well. HP gives great value, sure there are more powerful computers out there but who can really get a 17.3 windows 8.1 i5 with 6gb ram for under $500? This thing is huge and really for the size it's not that heavy. The battery is surprisingly long lasting for the massive screen, approx 3.5 hours. The finish of the computer on the inside looks like a flat cheap plastic but it's actually a really cool design, something HP usually doesn't leave behind. This also comes with an internal disk drive which is hard to come by these days, which is another thing that sold on me. No blue tooth, but that's kind of a thing of the past. New things I don't like about it. The mouse pad is kind of bad, not that responsive, it's so big too, you will find yourself running across it when trying to get to the keyboard. Also don't let the beats audio fool you. It's junk. Voices are very clear but music itself sounds like 200% treble and zero bass. Sure you can adjust the settings but it's nearly no help and I've found that it just distorts the sound very bad. Really those are the things I don't care for but kind of expected that, overall it's a great value and you can't go wrong with the quality of HP.

Something I've always wanted

I've always wanted a controller for ios. There's so many great games but they all just weren't great because of the controls. This will fix that. This will only work on certain games but the developers will soon make updates. About the control now. It's awesome. Dead trigger 2 is amazing, it's a first person shooter, this is so fun to play now. The build quality seems good, it's solid feel when you have it all together. Pricey? Yes. But I'm happy with it. A few cons: the triggers feel like sponges, they don't have the feel like an xbox controller trigger. Don't expect that. The feed back of them is rather spongy or hard. I don't like that. Also this does have a built in battery, it will charge your device but only if the controller is charged. It WILL NOT charge your device if you have the controller plugged into the wall, meaning if both your iphone and controller are dead you can't play. this is a major flaw. I know it's possible to do cause i have had other external battery's that will charge your device while the external battery device itself is plugged into. Also having it for a day, it just stopped working completely. I had to press the reset button and it worked great again. If this happens again I will be returning it for a new one. But all in all I'm really happy with it and it's totally worth buying if your into ios games.

A nice slim player

I bought this as my first blueray player(I don't rent movies much I get them off the web instead) I wanted something that could do more than play bluerays. I needed something to play movies via USB on my external hard drive. It does play well but I guess I have so much stuff on the drive it doesn't load it all. I'm going to reformat the drive and go from there (1.5tb) the player does feature a lot of apps, you have to go through a few things to get to the apps, which is something I don't care for, but the apps are cool. The player fits well in my tv stand, it's slim and nice I don't care for the fact that there is only one USB port and its only in the front. I want it in the back to hide the cord from my external hard drive. It does however play AVI files which in the specs of the player it does not mention that at all. Overall I'd give it a 4/5 if I can figure out why it won't load up all my video files on my external it will have a 4.5/5
