Impressive build quality, unimpressive sound
on December 15, 2021
Posted by: BillFromKC
from KCMO
I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased opinion.
TL;DR - great build quality across the board, good audio quality for phone calls, low audio latency, poor audio quality for music, and iffy connections for the charging cables. They're a good option if you want Bluetooth sunglasses but, like other brands, they have their issues.
Now for more details:
First, the great. I picked the Starman model and found their build quality to be absolutely impeccable. They have the right amount of flex in their titanium frame to be comfortable, the polarized lenses are made of polycarbonate, and (even though this pair was too small for me) they're comfortable to wear thanks to their light weight, being not much heavier than a pair of cheap plastic sunglasses. Phone calls with HD voice-capable phones and using services like Facebook Messenger, Microsoft Teams, and Apple Facetime sound great. Audio latency was near zero on my iPhone 11, meaning that these are good enough for gaming. Also, unlike other brands of smart glasses, these come with a power brick for charging, which is handy if you don't have any spare chargers from previous phones you owned.
Now for the okay stuff. The speakers in the earpieces of the frame use the same technology that "true wireless stereo" earbuds use, meaning they either each independently connect to your phone or one side connects to the other and then to your phone; what this means is you'll occasionally get a dropout or very slight audio latency on one side. Also, there is no noise cancelling for the mics, meaning that they'll pick up on sounds around you. The gloss finish on the earpieces is also prone to picking up fingerprints and hairline scratches; a matte finish would have been a better option here.
Finally, the bad. The audio quality for music and games is poor, very tinny. The drivers also get too loud and distort easily; I had this problem with bass-heavy hip-hop and jazz especially, but also with 70's/80's rock and pop, classical music, and metal being particularly bad, the drivers making a screeching sound while Kirk Hammett shredded in Metallica's "One". Also, while I get that Bluetooth sunglasses work better with a proprietary charging solution than they do with either a barrel tip, USB-B micro or USB-C connection, at least make the magnetic charging connections stronger so just bumping the shelf the glasses were sitting on while charging doesn't cause a disconnection.
In closing, I'm a fan of these sunglasses but they have problems that need to be fixed in next year's model. Another brand I've used was able to get the audio mostly right, but the build quality and the lenses weren't great. Lucyd got the build quality and the lenses right, but didn't get the musical audio quality right. If you're buying them for making phone calls on the go, they're a winner. They're also a winner in terms of comfort and style. With the audio and charge cable issues fixed, these would be a 5/5, but as they sit, I have to ding them on those two issues. Still, I can recommend these to anyone who's an early adopter.

Serious protection. Subtle styling. Built sustainably. WĀKE for Apple iPad (7th generation, 8th generation, and 9th generation) is a sea-change in case construction, using mostly ocean-based recycled plastic without sacrificing performance. Molded with a mellow wave pattern, the look is contemporary to the core. And after purchase, you get to donate a dollar to one of LifeProof’s water-conscious nonprofit partners — for free.

Simple and adequate protection
on December 4, 2021
Posted by: BillFromKC
from KCMO
I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.
I’ll keep this short and sweet - the LifeProof WĀKE case is made out of plastic that feels high quality, provides simple and adequate protection for drops where your iPad lands on its edges or back, and is easy to install and remove. The fact it’s made mostly from recovered sea plastic is a nice bonus. Keep in mind that you will need a screen protector of some sort if you’re planning on being active or allowing children to use the iPad with this, as it doesn’t provide screen protection. But all in all, I recommend this case for most people with iPads and other tablets that want a simple way to protect their device.

Pretty amazing kitchen tool
on November 24, 2021
Posted by: BillFromKC
from KCMO
I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.
TL;DR - The Cosori VeSync Aeroblaze countertop indoor grill is a pretty amazing kitchen tool, like the summary states. On top of the grilling function, it's also an air fryer and an oven with bake and broil functionality. Compared to similar cookers I own or have owned, it's relatively quiet; while the air intake fan does make a bit of noise, both the controls and the overall noise made while operating aren't nearly as loud during operation. Being connected via WiFi and controllable using Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa will feel overkill at first, but it comes in handy for checking how much time is left.
For the size of the cooking area, the footprint this takes up on the countertop is fairly large, but it's lower profile doesn't take up as much cabinet or shelf space as do taller air fryers. Unlike every other similar cooker I have to this, however, cleanup is far easier to deal with thanks to the ceramic non-stick surfaces instead of teflon or other similar plastic-based nonstick cooking surfaces that tend to flake off over time and don't stand up to high heat for extended periods of time. Overall, I'm very impressed.
--------------------------------
First impressions and setup:
Getting the VeSync Aeroblaze out of the packaging was easy enough. Inside the packaging, you'll also find a liner insert, a grill insert, a basket insert, a stainless steel mesh baking pan, tongs, skewers, a meat thermometer, instruction and warranty registration literature, and a recipe book that will help get you started with the unit. Everything was packaged well.
The grill itself is really nice. The controls are easy to understand and the display is clear and easy to read. The opening and closing motion is smooth and the top holds itself open with ease. Even the warning sticker on the side of the unit was easily removed without residue left behind, something rare with nearly any product with stickers on it. The build quality is definitely a step above most other countertop grills and air fryers thanks to metal surfaces. The power cord is also long enough to be convenient while not being too long where it can become a pull hazard, especially while running.
If you want to use WiFi with the VeSync Aeroblaze (you don't have to, but it's an option), you'll need to download the VeSync app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Once installed, you'll find instructions for connecting your grill to your WiFi and the ability to change the settings of the grill along with recipes you can follow along with in the app. You'll also use the app to activate your voice assistant so you can use commands like "Hey Alexa, how much time is left on the Aeroblaze?" or "Hey Google, turn the Aeroblaze off."
--------------------------------
Operation:
I decided to try making chicken nuggets, 12 ounce Kansas City strip steaks, and elotes (also known as Mexican street corn) with this unit. The chicken nuggets were straightforward, and were finished in 10 minutes thanks to both the machine's 1750 watts of cooking power and low profile. Roasting corn from frozen whole cobs didn't take very long, about 12 minutes total, and they came out pretty good for frozen.
The steak felt like cheating. It took about 5 minutes for each side in grill mode to get a medium rare thick cut steak out of the VeSync Aeroblaze. The potatoes I cooked with the steak - small Yukon golds - also came out tender and delicious. One thing I do recommend is if you want a bit of a smoke flavor to your steak, put a drop or two of liquid smoke in with some olive oil or softened butter so the steak absorbs some of the flavor.
As mentioned in first impressions and setup, there are voice commands you can use with the grill. I find "How much time is left?" being the one I commonly used.
--------------------------------
Bonus:
Cosori also stands behind their product, not only with technical support and an extended warranty, but also with support from chefs through email, telephone, and social media.
--------------------------------
Drawbacks:
The only two things I can complain about with the VeSync Aeroblaze are its size and the air intake fan on the bottom of the unit. The fan noise could be corrected by. placing a larger fan into the design if it's possible, while storing the unit is easy thanks to it not being very tall compared to most air fryers.
--------------------------------
Conclusion:
The Cosori VeSync Aeroblaze indoor countertop grill is, again, a pretty amazing kitchen tool. It does everything it does well. It has WiFi if you want to use WiFi, Google, and Alexa with it. It's a premium-priced product with premium features and it's worth the price tag.

Decent but you can find a better value

I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.
TL;DR - The Belkin Soundform Move Plus True Wireless Earbuds have some glimmers of greatness in them - audio quality across the board is really good for a pair of earbuds without noise cancelling - but they're held back by lack of app control and finicky controls you can't disable on the buds paired with a charge case that has a micro USB charge port, a thin lid, and finicky Qi charging.
------------------------------------
Unboxing and first impressions:
You get the bare essentials in the box - the Soundform Move Plus earbuds in their charge case, a micro USB cable, 3 pairs of silicone earbud tips (the medium-sized pair comes installed and both the small and large tips come in separate baggies), pictograph instructions and troubleshooting guide, and a larger warranty information sheet.
The case plastic feels alright, but the lid feels thin and like it'll break easily. The earbuds themselves feel as if they were built to be more substantial. The micro USB charge port is a disappointment considering how many other wireless headphone cases come with either USB-C or Lightning ports for wired charging. Wireless charging of the case is there but it's finicky (I tested this against a 5 watt generic charge pad, a 10 watt Insignia-branded charge pad, and 3 different Belkin charge pads).
Charging the case is fairly quick no matter if you use wireless charging or wired charging. The earbuds themselves pop into the case with magnets and are held securely.
------------------------------------
Setup and usage:
Pairing is a snap. When you open the case the first time, both ear buds light up and your phone or other Bluetooth device should find them immediately. If you need to repair them, however, you'll go through a rather difficult reset method with both earbuds.
Changing the tips is easier than most earbuds with changeable tips. Where it usually takes me 10 or 15 minutes to do this step on most other brands, it took me about 2 minutes with the Soundform Move Pluses.
Audio quality is really good. I wouldn't call it amazing or best in class, but these earbuds do make for a good sound field considering they're in you're ear. Bass and treble are both not overpowering but you can hear it. Vocals are particularly strong and stereo imaging is good; listening to live music makes you feel as if you're in the crowd.
These are marketed as active lifestyle earbuds and they're good for that sort of thing. I went for a run while wearing these and didn't have a problem with them coming out or even moving around in my ears; some high-end TWS earbuds aren't even this good for me in this regard. No noise cancelling also made it easier to listen for traffic.
The touch controls on the earbuds are the one major annoyance I found out of everything to complain about. There's no apparent way to disable them, and I opened Siri on my iPhone at least a dozen times putting the earbuds in.
------------------------------------
Final thoughts:
The Belkin Soundform Move Plus true wireless earbuds are good, but you can find a better value in TWS earbuds. The lack of app controls to adjust audio settings and turn the touch controls on and off are detrimental, as is the charge case using micro USB instead of USB-C.
The audio quality is really good, however, especially if you can catch these on sale. For runners, these are terrific as they won't come out of your ears.
All in all, I can recommend these.

A terrific "place anywhere there's WiFi" camera
on November 11, 2021
Posted by: BillFromKC
from KCMO
I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.
The Eufy Solo Cam S40 security spotlight cam solar 2k is pretty much the perfect outdoor security camera for those who want to do it themselves but don't feel comfortable running power or data/video lines to a camera. It easily connects to your existing WiFi network and has terrific video and picture quality thanks to it's high-resolution 2k image sensor. The spotlight functionality is enough to light up a side yard or a small front yard, and as long as you have WiFi and sunlight, you can place the camera anywhere.
----------------------
First impressions and setup:
The camera is packed efficiently in its box, with the mounting hardware, instruction literature, and a USB-C charge cable (used for initial setup) in the package. The mounting hardware is easy to install - you'll want a drill for this step, however, as it makes putting the screws in easier.
The Eufy app will walk you through every step of setup. To test how easy this is, I had my 10 year old son do this step. It took him about 5 minutes to get it done from start to finish. The only good thing to know here is that you'll want to use the included USB-C cable to charge the camera a few hours prior to setup.
----------------------
Usage:
The camera is super easy to operate in the app. You'll have access to play back past recorded events, view a live feed from the camera (including the ability to talk to people through the camera), control the built-in spotlight, and adjust how the camera works (sensitivity settings, nighttime recording settings, and even the color temperature of the spotlight).
There are two features you may want for this camera but are not there - continuous recording and SD card storage. Owners of Eufy's HomeBase will also be interested to know that this camera, like any of the older Solo cameras, does not use the HomeBase for storage.
----------------------
Drawbacks:
Besides the storage and continuous recording things, the main drawback of this camera is it must be installed in such a way that it receives a few hours of sunlight a day. This means you won't be able to install it under eaves of your house, in a tree, or on the north side of your home.
----------------------
Conclusion:
I'm a fan of the Eufy Solo Cam S40 security spotlight cam 2k. It does everything I need it to do and does those things well. The motion recordings work every time, and even setup 75 feet outside of my home, the WiFi connection is perfect. If you're wanting a camera you can place on an outbuilding of your property or even outside of your home where there is no power, this is a perfect fit.

Another excellent indoor camera from Eufy
on November 5, 2021
Posted by: BillFromKC
from KCMO
I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.
The Eufy Indoor Cam Mini is a compact and convenient way to add a pan and tilt camera to your indoor spaces to add an extra layer of security. While not completely silent, the pan and tilt mechanism is quiet enough to not be immediately noticeable unless you’re listening for it. The camera has an astonishingly clear picture in both well-lit and completely dark rooms, with a very bright IR night vision LED system. The option for wall and ceiling mounting is handy, especially for garages and entryways where you want the camera out of the way at all times. RTSP is also supported with this camera if you wish to use a network video recorder to store video.
The only drawback is a minor one - the card slot for built-in microSD recording is somewhat difficult to get to for those with large fingers.
All in all, the Eufy Indoor Cam Mini is perfect for those who want a camera that can record to itself now and would want to have the option of network recording down the line.

Really cool - and expandable - strip light
on October 27, 2021
Posted by: BillFromKC
from KCMO
I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.
You might think that Twinkly is just fancy holiday lighting, but it turns out they do more than that. For example, the Twinkly Line strip light is an addressable RGB strip light that you can program different effects into, from a red light that chases itself back and forth to pairing several together to create a light show of your choosing.
Like every other Twinkly product, the Line strip light is super easy to setup - install the app on your smart phone, put the light controller into pairing mode, and you're done. Inside the app, you can choose from several effects - or create your own.
You can also pair Twinkly devices to Google Assistant and Alexa, meaning you wouldn't need to open the app or unplug the devices when you want to turn them on or off.
Do I recommend Twinkly products? Yes.

Easy to install and looks thoroughly modern
on October 19, 2021
Posted by: BillFromKC
from KCMO
I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased opinion.
Core Innovations Indoor TV Antenna bar is a stylish, incredibly easy-to-use TV antenna with built-in amplification and an indicator to help you receive the best TV signal you possibly can. It works with any TV or ATSC tuner - just attach the power supply to the antenna and the integrated cord to your TV or tuner. There's an indicator that lights up with bars, similar to the signal indicator on your cell phone, to let you know what the relative signal strength is across all channels. It's wall mountable or can be set on a shelf by your TV.
Reception is terrific. Compared to my outdoor 80-mile antenna I use in my basement, reception is about equal on a Sony XBR2 and a Olevia 537-b11. Compared to a 40-mile amplified antenna on my first floor, there's a lot less glitching on a Sony XBR850C. Compared to passive 15-25 mile antennas, both another Olevia 537-b11 and a Hisense H8G receive far more channels.
The only thing I don't like about this antenna is the signal lead is permanently attached. If the F-jack breaks,, this is broken.
Otherwise, the Core Innovations Indoor TV Antenna Bar is an excellent choice for those who want an easy-to-use solution that blends in instead of stands out.

The Nextbase 320XR and Rear Window Camera is the ideal solution for all-around protection on the roads in full HD quality. The front cam captures every detail in 1080p full HD at 30fps, with the aid of a 140° wide viewing angle. It utilizes the latest 2.5" screen with IPS technology for easy menu selection and playback. The 320XR uses the exclusive Click&Go PRO mount with integrated neodymium magnetic power connectors for easy installation and removal using just one hand. The 320XR Rear Window Camera connects to your front facing Dash Cam via a supplied 6.5m cable. It fits directly to your rear window with an easy to install self-adhesive pad. The magnetic, adjustable fixture means that it's suitable for angled windows in cars or more vertical van windows. The Rear Window Camera records in full 1080p HD with a wide 140 degree viewing angle to guard against everything from hit-and-run impacts to knocks and bumps in a car park. The 320XR also includes Intelligent Parking, which automatically starts recording when motion is detected, keeping your car safe when parked. For this feature, we recommend hardwiring in the Dash Cam using the Nextbase Hardwire Kit. Footage must be played back on a PC/Mac using Mynextbase Player or online using the free MyNextbase Cloud service (minimum requirements: Windows 10/OSX 10.9). The 320XR is not Bluetooth, and will NOT sync directly with the MyNextbase cell phone application.

Good midrange dash camera with great video quality
on October 15, 2021
Posted by: BillFromKC
from KCMO
I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.
The Nextbase 320XR Dash Camera with Rear Window Camera is a decent value for what you get in the package. The cameras both record up to 1080p/30 video with an optional 720p/60 mode if you prefer frames per second over resolution. The kit itself is relatively easy to install, with long cables that are easy to run and hide (as long as you're comfortable with popping trim pieces off). It draws very little power from your car battery, allowing for it to run as a security camera for your vehicle as well. The main drawbacks are that the display can be a little distracting at night, the rear camera connection to the main unit isn't keyed (meaning it can go in backward), and the system doesn't come with a compatible Micro SD card. Otherwise, for the price, the Nextbase 320XR is a good value for the money.
First impressions, installation, and setup:
The 320XR feels solid and well-built, with buttons instead of a touch screen so you can control it without having to look at it The cameras both have strong magnets to hold them in place on their bases; the rear camera uses a mount that makes it east to reposition should you need to, and the main unit's mount also has passthrough for USB power. It comes with the cig plug adapter with a very long power cord and a mini USB connection, along with a mini USB cable meant for updating firmware on the device from a Windows computer.
The rear camera does have a break-away cable, making it easy to run the almost 20 foot long video cable from where you place the dash cam to the back of your vehicle. Keep in mind that, with the power and video cables, they need to run in such a way where they won't block airbags that might be mounted in your vehicle's headliner (side curtain airbags especially), so you may need to run the cable under door sill trim pieces and not along the roof. The adhesive mounts are easily placed, and can be removed with some effort should you need to move your cameras.
Before using the dash cam, it's suggested to allow it to charge for a few hours. I let mine charge overnight. You may also need to do a firmware update to the camera; my unit came with the current firmware on it. Firmware updates can be done with any computer running Windows 7, 8, or 10; for Mac users, you can run Windows inside of macOS using virtualization software, and there are free and paid options available.
The initial setup of the dash cam device itself is painless. It asks you for the date and the time, and formats the micro SD card you inserted. Please keep in mind this device needs a micro SD card capable of U3 speeds or better. You'll also be able to configure whether or not the microphone is used, if the rear camera records or not, and the resolution and frame rate of the cameras (720p/30, 720p/60, and 1080p/30 are your options).
If I'm going to knock anything here, it's the connector that plugs into the main unit for the camera. You can plug it into the main unit either way, but it only works when the wire runs to the top of it. The system gives no warning that the rear camera isn't connected correctly when this happens.
Usage:
The Nextbase 320XR is a breeze to use. It knows to start and stop recording automatically based on if your car is running or not. a quick press of a button turns the screen on and off; the button at the bottom of the unit is used for securing recordings so they can't be deleted by the device.
The cameras themselves are actually really good for a device at this price range. Driving at night, I noticed that the camera could see things I could not and did a great job at balancing light levels from passing vehicles.
Playback on the built-in screen is okay for an in-the-moment viewing of recorded content, but you're better off to watch what you recorded on a laptop or tablet than you are on the dash cam itself.
One minor complaint is I wish I could turn off the splash screen sound more easily.
Gripes:
It would be nice if the kit came with a compatible micro SD card. It would also be nice if the kit came with a hard wiring solution; running a small set of wires to the device instead of tucking the wire from the included cig plug adapter would be easier for those comfortable with doing advanced wiring and for professional installers. The keyed camera cable thing would be a great fix, too. Also, it would be nice if the device could transfer video to a smartphone, tablet, or computer using bluetooth or wifi.
Conclusion:
If you're needing a dash camera with great video quality, you can't go wrong with the Nextbase 320XR.

Terrific TWS earbuds, especially for the price.
on October 7, 2021
Posted by: BillFromKC
from KCMO
I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.
TL;DR - and Anker Life Note 3 XR TWS noise-cancelling earbuds are a terrific product for a terrific price. The bass is rich and deep, the noise cancelling works well enough in most instances to enhance your listening experience, and battery life is terrific. While I do wish these came with a wireless charging case, I can live without that feature. Audio quality - the most important feature - is amazing for what these cost; bass is clean and tight, highs are clean, vocals are clear, and the soundstage is surprisingly wide for ear buds. All in all, if you're looking to get small TWS earbuds but you don't want to pay for one of the gold standards in this field, these are your lower-priced go to.
-----------------------------------------
Unboxing and setup:
These came packaged well with the earbuds inside of their charging case, a short USB-A to USB-C charging cable, and 5 sets of different-sized silicone ear bud tips (the medium size was pre-installed). It also came with instructions and warranty literature in the package.
One thing to make sure of, and it wasn't crystal clear in the instructions, is to download the Soundcore app to your phone. It allows you to adjust audio quality and noise-cancelling/transparency mode.
Pairing was super easy - flip open the case and the earbuds turned on. They paired near instantly to my iPhone 11 and I was listening to music within a few minutes.
-----------------------------------------
Usage:
To power the ear buds on, you pop the case open and pop the ear buds out. To turn them off, you pop the ear buds back in their case and close the case. You'll want to make sure you put tips on the ear buds that fit in your ear canals and keep them in their place; with 5 sizes of tips, you'll find a pair big enough for your ears.
Where the magic happens is with the Soundcore app. You're given the ability to adjust the noise cancellation and sound transparency modes from a point where nearly no sound from the outside gets into your ears to the point that all sounds are slightly amplified and you can hear your surroundings over your music. You have 8 preset EQ settings in the app, or you can customize the settings to what you think sounds good. You can toggle on gaming mode, which helps with lower latency between your phone and the ear buds for better gaming. You can adjust the controls for tapping the ear buds to what you want them to be (or off altogether), Finally, you can configure what Anker calls "Superior Sleep" - a mode that generates ambient noise you can mix, from clocks and trains to fans and the ocean.
As far as music playback goes, it's awesome. While these aren't "DIRTY BASS" ear buds, they don't need to be - they'll cover bass at the bottom to the highs from cymbals and the sound of room ambiance with ease. Everything I listened to sounded good - hip-hop, metal, classical music, and EDM - just good, clean sound. The only problem some may come across is their maximum volume isn't as high as some competitors, but not everyone needs to listen to music at concert-like levels all the time.
Calls on these ear buds are alright. They do LTE/5G HD voice calling just fine, which also translates to better audio quality in FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, and Microsoft Teams calls. While the microphones aren't comparable to a dedicated mic, a boom mic, or even talking on the handset itself, they're more passable than TWS headphones priced nearly twice as much.
-----------------------------------------
As far as any problems with these go, I only have a minor one - the charge case cover is a little more difficult than it needs to be to open. If the notch on the lid were a little more pronounced and it didn't have a small piece of plastic that comes down over the charge indicator LEDs, these would be perfection.
-----------------------------------------
Just to recap, the Soundcore Life Note 3 XR ear buds are pretty much the best thing you can get at their price point. Excellent audio quality, terrific features that work well, long battery life - you can't go wrong here. If you're looking at entry-level, look no further; if you're looking at something more expensive, these are still worth considering.

This TV has an ATSC tuner.
August 27, 2015
There's no guarantee that ATSC tuners will work with ClearQAM cable channels, and even so, the greater majority of cable providers now scramble all cable channels. Including OTA channels. Because the FCC changed the rules and they're allowed to do this now.

Big Time 3-D problems
By Mike
I am writing to review the “XBR-55X850C”. HOWEVER, I have read multiple web pages that state this problem is happening with all Sony 3-D televisions, in the United States AND Europe, and that customers are not receiving ANY customer service, or any help from Sony whatsoever.
I have called 3 times and have been hung up on each time.
So, if you are looking for a great 3-D experience and excellent SONY customer service, LOOK ELSEWHERE. Sony rolled out an update for this television at the end of November of 2015. After the update, when viewing 3-D content, the display mode function of the current screen is continuously showing the current screen mode of the television. ALL THE TIME. Coming in and out up to 7 times a minute.
So, while watching a 3-D movie, every 5 to 60 seconds, the words “Wide Mode Full” flashes on the screen in the lower left hand corner. It NEVER stops. Sony is aware of this problem, unfortunately, Sony customer service is rude & unhelpful with this issue. They claim that “Sony is aware of this and is working on an update”. When I asked when the update would be released, Sony representatives claim they do not know when this update will be available.
Every Sony representative has hung up on me after not being able to satisfactorily answer the simplest of questions.
Anyone looking for a great 3-D experience, look elsewhere. Sony does not care about this problem. After all, they already have our money.
If you think this is the same old Sony with great products, high standards, and great customer service, THINK AGAIN! This is not your father’s Sony. This is the new, corporate Sony that just wants your money.
Everyone out there looking for a good 3-D T.V. should stick with Samsung. I wish I did. I thought I was “upgrading” from Samsung to Sony.

Customer service people are never told when...

...things get fixed after they get broken. I have this TV as well, and customer service people have no idea when Android Marshmallow will hit this TV set, let alone any of the other 2015 Sony TVs. Considering the Google Nexus Player got borked by the update though, that's probably a good thing the update hasn't hit yet.

Hard To Program
By FortFun2 from Illinois
Found it is difficult, not intuitive, to program. Others have said if you loose power all your programming is lost, but we haven't lost power yet so can't confirm. I just wanted it to run when I left the house without a set program and contacting Bissell just led to more confusion. But, once I got it working I was impressed with the amount of pet hair it removed.

if your Blu-Ray player isn't connected to the internet, connect it to the internet and update its firmware. That should fix all your issues.

This is the future of WiFi
By neio11
I threw (recycled) away my wifi extenders plus I am now able connect a device with an ethernet cable without having to run cables through the walls because each node has 2 ethernet ports. So for instance, I have one node connected to my modem and an ethernet switch. My 2nd node in another room is connected to an NVR for my security cameras. The speed through the nodes is surprisingly fast. The NVR is capturing HD videos from 3 cameras and it seems to capture fine. The 3rd node is in my living room area. The whole house is covered! Please put a password on your wifi otherwise you'll be supplying FREE wifi for your neighbors. I can have full internet access from 3-4 houses away from my house. I thought installation would be a pain considering you have to setup each node. Well, I shouldn't say "have to" because you don't have to use all 3 nodes. You can use only 1 or 2 and give the 3rd to me. haha. No but setup is a breeze! The only thing is that you have to use a smart device such as a tablet or phone, to do the setup. Velop currently doesn't support PC-based setup but I hope Linksys changes that especially for us "techies"!!! It works with Alexa. You can ask #Alexa what the wifi password is... so they say. I haven't had much success with it yet. It looks clean and neat. It doesn't all those antennas sticking out of it which makes it aesthetically pleasing.
I'm loving so far!

The setup process basically forces you to put a...

...password on your WiFi network. In fact, it's one of three things it asks when you set up the parent node, the other two being "Do you connect directly to the internet or through a modem/router device provided by your ISP?" and what to call your wireless network.

Blazing Speed, Best In Class Performance!
By gadgetguy11
The Linksys - Velop Tri-Band Whole Home Wi-Fi System (3-pack) is packaged in a beautiful & functional box with magnetic closure - it exudes quality! Each Node is protected individually. Just looking at the box, you expect a premium, esoteric product... & Linksys delivers that & more in spades! The shapely Nodes are beautiful & blend with any decorating style.
Simple set-up via the Linksys iOS or Android App. Within minutes, you are ready to go online.
As shown in attached photo, I have 90 wireless devices utilized over 5,000 sq feet / 3 floors: this is a challenging application for high speed Wi-Fi that includes: connected major appliances; BAS ceiling fans & Haiku Wi-Fi connected lights; Wi-Fi Thermostats; Netatmo Wi-Fi Weather Station; 65 Hue Lights; Connected exterior door locks; Wink Wi-Fi connected devices; connected iDevices, Nest & Arlo cameras; iPads; iPhones & computers. Finally, Streaming from 4) Apple TV's; Nixplay Wi-Fi Photo Frames.
And now the Results:
Velop delivers the fastest Wi-Fi speed I have ever experienced and does so consistently! The attached screen capture shows 349 Mbps Download / 23 Mbps Upload. These are WIRELESS speeds!! I pay for 300 Mbps Download / 30 Mbps Upload & our internet service provider generally delivers 300 - 360 Download & 22 - 32 Upload.
Velop is the only Wi-Fi System I have found to date that actually delivers this sustainable speed and does not randomly disconnect the many devices.
High power Wi-Fi requires a high current source. Each of the 3) square white power supplies produce 12 Volt, 2 Amp output! 24VA (Volt Amps) is the highest output of any router I have tested. Better yet, the cable that plugs into each Velop is perfectly angled at the plug so the wire routs neatly through the cable management feature at the base. Brilliant design!
PRO's:
1- Fastest Wi-Fi Speed
2- Easy approximate 10 minute Set-up per hub
3- Velop Nodes are very attractive & blend with any architecture
4- Robust infrastructure yields dependable performance
5- 24/7 Support
6- 3-Year Warranty
7- Easy to use App with great diagnostics
8- Wire Management at the base is excellent & offers a wire free appearance.
9- Three Velop Nodes establish fast Wi-Fi speed across the house on any floor.
10- Expandable: Add an additional Node any time you prefer.
CON's:
1- IP Address range cannot be changed from: 192.***. My 2) existing Apple Time Capsule / Routers had IP addresses of 10.***, but they can be set to different ranges. A different IP Address range requires individually resetting a few devices that previously connected to the other range. For example, each Nixplay connected frame had to manually "Forget" the old Wi-Fi name of the previous SSID, then set up the same name with Velop, even though the Wi-Fi name and password are the same. On 13) Apple Airport Express devices, I had to power down each device to reset it from 10.*** to 192.***
2- IPv6 is not supported as of product release. This is surprising, as my three year old Apple Time Capsule / Router supported IPv6.
3- The first unit set up in under 10 minutes; however the remaining two hubs froze at the same exact place midway every time during set-up. After 6 failed attempts, I held each Node horizontally and kept my hand around it. Surprisingly, this procedure resulted in a virtually immediate set-up! Then I set each Node vertically & it continued to work great.
4- Only one Node can connect to the internet via ethernet. The other Nodes connect to the first Node via wireless mesh connection. I would prefer the option of connecting each Node to a wired ethernet connection. Linksys Technical Support indicated this may be added later as a software update. This would prove beneficial because the Nodes must be located fairly close together (my tests showed less than 40 feet apart at most).
CONCLUSION: My search for the "Ideal" Whole Home Wi-Fi System that consistently delivers 300 Mbps over 5,000 square feet with 90 devices ends here!! I am THRILLED with Velop & give it my highest recommendation!! It has proven to be the BEST ROUTER available for 2017!

and even so, there was a firmware update it applied immediate after setup. I agree that the IP address range thing is annoying though, especially when you're moving from an existing network with static IP devices (NAS, printers, etc.)

The privacy shutter puts you in control of what you show.

I need a web cam for a presentation for a a showing on Facebook. The web cam will be on a screen from a projector going to Facebook live. Would this be the web cam to get or should I get a different one?

You should actually look at getting a video capture card if you're wanting to put the contents of your computer display (from a projector or monitor) to any streaming platform. There are also different software packages you could obtain that would bypass the need for video capture devices (camera or direct input) for this purpose, but you'd need a discrete video chip for this sort of software to work well.

what kind of digital receiver do i need for a Sony Weather.TV.FM.AM.48 band ICE-36

You might be able to use a digital TV converter to get tv audio on your radio, but you'd also have to deal with a 300 ohm matching transformer and possibly soldering.

Our installers will quickly and professionally mount and secure your TV to drywall and connect your TV to your video components. We'll also add an internet-capable TV and video components to an existing wireless network, perform any needed software or firmware updates and configure up to 2 smart streaming services. We’ll program the remotes that came with your equipment and ensure that all wires and cables are neatly dressed. Plus, we’ll clean our workspace when we’re done and make sure you are comfortable with how to use and enjoy your new system.

Need to have 43 " tv mounted on the wall 5 ft above electrical outlet. Xfinity cable 25 ft away from where tv needs installation. Any additional charges for this? I understand I need to purchase wall mount. Do I need to purchase cable?

Unless Best Buy installers do new power outlets, you'll need an electrician to install a power outlet up by the TV mount. A Comcast tech can run a new cable outlet if you don't want cable TV wires exposed on the wall. Also, don't bother with buying coax from anyone; technicians from pretty much every cable company will throw it out and replace it with their own, which is generally higher-quality than what you'd get from a retail store.

Should I have Xfinity installed before TV installation?

If you already have a TV set or computer monitor with HDMI you can test with, you'd be fine with getting Xfinity pre-installed. But if you do not, then wait until after TV installation.

Also, get yourself a nice antenna you can hide behind your TV so for those moments cable goes out and you need local TV, you can still watch local TV.

Apple TV 4K lets you watch movies and shows in amazing 4K HDR - and now it completes the picture with immersive sound from Dolby Atmos¹. It streams your favorite sports, news, and TV channels live. Has great content from apps like Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and ESPN². And thanks to Siri, you can control it all with just your voice.

I just purchased the Apple TV 4K. I don’t have a 4K tv but I do have a smart tv. Will any HDMI cable work? Or do I need a 4K? Can I get 4K on a regular smart tv with the Apple TV?

The Apple TV 4k will detect your TV properly and output the correct signal for it. It also will stream the correct content for your TV from its various sources so you don't needlessly run up your data usage with content your TV can't display properly. The Apple TV 4k works with TVs all the way down to 480p video resolution.

This also applies to people that have 4k TVs without HDR capability - the Apple TV will stream the SDR 4k content instead of the higher-bandwidth HDR 4k content.

Enjoy wireless audio with these Sony Bluetooth headphones. The rechargeable battery lets you listen for up to 8 hours, and these headphones also have a built-in microphone so you can issue voice commands. These Sony Bluetooth headphones can be paired with your tablet or smartphone, letting you control volume and navigate playlists from your device.

I am interested in a set of headphones to plug into our JVC TV so that we can watch and listen to programs with out bothering the rest of the house. Do you have something that would work with our 8-9 year old JVC 36" TV? Thanks, Bev

You can go a few different directions with this.

If your TV has fixed audio output, your best option is to buy a pair of RF wireless headphones. Several manufacturers make headphones like this, but my favorites of this kind are Sennheiser and Sony.

If your TV has variable audio output and you're able to turn the built-in speakers on and off, you can get a Bluetooth transmitter (or two, depending on the device capabilities) and any Bluetooth headphones of your choosing - earbuds, on-ear, and over-ear. You'll have lots of options for headphones themselves, but few companies actually make the transmitters. This is also the most expensive option.

Finally, if you don't want to go with a wireless solution and your TV has fixed audio output, you can get a headphone amp (or two) and either long RCA audio cables or long 3.5mm extension cables. Several options for cheap headphone amps are available, as are options for the extension cables.

I currently have an WRT1900ACS Router, would the VELOP AC6600 system be able to connect with that or do I did to replace in order to use the mesh system?

The Velop replaces the WRT as your router.

If you're using the NAS functionality of your WRT router, you'll need to put it into bridge mode (which should automatically disable its DHCP server) and set a static IP address for it that isn't 192.168.1.1; I'd probably go 192.168.1.2. If you're also using an aftermarket firmware on the WRT for functionality including being a web server, VPN server, or anything else of that nature, you'll also need to configure port forwarding on the Velop system to support that functionality.

Unfortunately, Velop doesn't support running as an access point at this time. Also, if you're more concerned about speed than coverage, the WRT1900 is technically faster since each Velop node will only offer a 400mbps 2.4GHz connection and a single 867mbps 5GHz connection in wireless mesh mode for your WiFi devices; in wired mesh mode, you gain a second 867mbps 5GHz connection and each Velop node will load balance your 5GHz devices automatically. Meanwhile your WRT offers a 600mbps 2.4GHz connection and a 1300mbps 5GHz connection.

Can the Velop be easily integrated into a AT&T U-verse setup either to act as the router or be placed into bridge mode? I'm primarily interested if the Velop can be placed into bridge mode which would make the Velop an access point.

Yes and no. You can put your Uverse Gateway into bridge mode and use the Velop that way, or you can leave the router in the Uverse gateway active and the Velop runs a second-layer network on top of it.

Keep in mind that anything plugged into the Uverse Gateway will not be seen by your WiFi network, so if you have any hardwired devices plugged into your Uverse Gateway, you'll need to also purchase a network switch (preferably a gigabit model). If your Uverse Gateway also functions as a print server or network-attached storage server, you'll need to find a solution to put those devices inside of your Velop network so they continue to function normally.
