I am a longtime Braun user and switched to Norelco because this shaver was supposed to provide a similar shave in much less time. That was true for about the first month. After that, the quality of the shaves went downhill. The cleaning station began leaving a residue on the shaver. The shaver would shave one small part of my face really well, but make the rest too sticky to be shaved because of the cleaning gel that remained on the head after cleaning. After this continued to be a problem for a few weeks, I stopped using the cleaning system. However, the shaver still performs poorly because the residue from the faulty cleaning system will not wash off.
I contacted Philips Norelco about the issue. They agreed to replace the defective cleaning station, but would not replace the cutting blades. This is a hardline policy, apparently. In normal circumstances I would agree with it, but the root cause of the blades no longer working is THEIR OWN CLEANING SYSTEM.
The shaver is only three months old, but it has to be within 45 days to get a full replacement. So, I am stuck with a $300 shaver that performs very poorly. I am once again using my five-year-old Braun shaver and getting a far superior shave.
I am disappointed with the shaver and very disappointed with Philips Norelco. I have previously been very happy with their products, but this experience has me made reluctant to purchase from the company in the future. I will not be purchasing a Norelco shaver again and recommend that you do not purchase this shaver unless you get a separate warranty from a store that provides a full exchange for at least a year.
