First let me say I bought this to watch movies only. I do not have tee-vee (cable or dish) and have no interest in viewing internet content on a 4K screen, I just watch on my Chromebook. So all the complaints about the Vizio app and having to use your smartphone/tablet as a remote I cannot address. So: It is an amazing experience to watch Blu rays in 4K. I have a friend who has a Vizio 43" HD and there is no comparison between the two. The color and sharpness on the 4K are eye-popping. You are left with a choice of video pre-sets instead of a menu of color level, sharpness etc, but the "vivid" setting is perfect for me.I have 200 Blu rays and watching them on a 4K is like having my own movie theater. Animation like classic Disney (Snow White, Pinocchio) and CGI (Monsters U, Toy Story) are absolutely amazing, but the best upgrade is with black and white movies. The annoying sparkle/grey scale issues are reduced considerably. I recently bought "The Big Sleep" and was disappointed in the quality when I watched it on my Asus HD monitor; watching it on this was a distinct improvement. So for about $800 I have a 43" Vizio 4K, a Sony Blu ray player and a Sony soundbar. Just amazing. My family had a television store from the 1950's to the early 80's and what $800 will buy today compared to 40 years ago is like being able to buy an Escalade for $2000. I cannot speak highly enough of this product. Very happy with my purchase.

Fantastic product, amazing technology

I purchased this for my roommate/landlord in lieu of rent, so my opinions are not based on my personal expectations. If you are a person with your music library on your smartphone/computer/in-the-cloud and have space issues like living in a dorm, studio apartment, RV, or for a bedroom or office; I cannot imagine a better product for listening to music. She downloaded the app onto her Android tablet effortlessly and within 3 minutes was scouring the WORLD of internet radio. The load time between stations is 1-2 seconds. The menu is nicely formatted but having only 6 pre-sets seems stingy. She activated bluetooth on her chromebook in seconds giving her 2 options to use. The remote is very small. Not having any way of changing the bass/treble does not get in the way of having deeply rich sound coming from a device the size of a shoe box. The bass and mid-range are very strong, I would say it is missing some clarity at the higher end of the register. The main weakness of the sound is lack of separation: the speakers are about 12" apart and there is simply no way to get true stereo separation from them. Pairing the Soundwave4 with a bluetooth speaker would be a major improvement. The headphone jack is on the back and you have to push all the way in and then pull back slightly but the sound you get is great. Her Koss 'phones and my Bose's sounded so much better than when plugged into our computers, if you listen to most of your music thru 'phones you will love this. Some of the other reviews I have read, here at BB and elsewhere, complained that $600 was pricey. I agree to this extent: for someone who is looking for an all-in-one device because of space considerations I cannot imagine a better purchase, especially if you use your smartphone/computer as your source for music primarily. If you have enough space (the equivalent of a coffee table) and are not using your tablet/smartphone/computer as your source you can get better sound for the same $600 with what I have: a Grace Digital internet radio tuner, a Blu ray player for CD's and a Sony center-channel 4K HDMI pass-thru 2.1 speaker (or a nice pair of Bose bookshelf speakers would do nicely too, paired with a small receiver). The speaker separation just makes the sound markedly better, in my opinion. Bottom line: she is very happy with her purchase and I think anyone how buys this little marvel of technology will be as well.

DVD Upconversion Worth The Purchase Price Alone!

I purchased this unit for 1 reason: to improve the quality of screen shots for designs on my Zazzle store. I had read all the reviews on BB and almost everyone said the quality of the DVD upconversion was outstanding and it is simply AMAZING! I have a nice Sony BD player that is less than 1 year old and there is no comparison between the two. First I watched "The Mummy's Ghost", a 480p DVD, and I couldn't believe the picture: there was NO greyscale shimmering which is the bane of black and white movies (even BDs), and the horizontal stretching of the image in full screen was greatly reduced as well. Next I tried "The Raven" which is a 360p disc but blessedly in the original widescreen format and the picture is just shy of BD quality. Next, a BD of "Island Of Lost Souls" which is from a print that is decidedly inferior to the BDs of the Universal Monster series by way of example. A slight but noticeable improvement. Lastly "The Nightmare Before Christmas", one of my favorite movies and visually my favorite movie of all time (perhaps tied with "The Wizard Of Oz") and yes Virginia it looks even better: sharper and richer colors across the spectrum especially the reds. The one disappointment is that there are no rca jacks on this unit so i will have to get a home theatre system instead of my soundbar but that is a minor consideration overall. I cannot speak to all the gaming and apps issues as I do not game and when I watch Netflix or Youtube I am content to do so on my computer. If you are a person "stuck" with many many MANY DVDs and want to get a better picture out of them vs spending a fortune upgrading to BDs this Sony 4K will give you near BD quality images and save you tons of $. I cannot recommend this marvel more than to say it is an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10!

Crystal Clear Sound And Excellent Spatial Imagry

I have this soundbar hooked up to my Asus 25" computer monitor and get the audio from RCA jacks from my Sony Blu-Ray. 2 things: play the thing for 5 hours or more before you make a decision about it; I just play movies and the first 3 or 4 I thought the sound was rather weak, after the 5th or so the sound seemed to improve especially the lower register #perhaps it needs to "loosen up"#. Secondly, complaining about a lack of bass is like going to a $6.95 buffet and fussing that they do not serve prime rib, ok? No, it does not have thumping bass like your Dad's 15" Cerwin Vegas from the 70s, so buy a small subwoofer #like the $80 Yamaha# and you will be all set because the CLARITY of this unit is phenomenal. Watching "A Nightmare Before Christmas" I can hear Dr Finklestein's wheelchair moving from side to side #spatial imagery#, and all the music and singing is clear as a bell. If you do not have the space for a full stereo outfit, or like me, the inclination for one, but you want better sound than your TV provides, this is the soundbar for you. I will be getting a sub someday, but until then this makes my Blu-Ray movie's audio come alive and I am very happy and totally satisfied that for $100 I experience a whole new level of audio quality.

Instant Heat, 4 years And Still Going Strong

Bought this little Bad Boy when the gas furnace died and my cheapskate landlord didn't have the $ to fix it for 2 weeks. We had 2 oil-filled DeLonghi's (which are fantastic for quiet heat without drying out the air# strategically placed and we used this to move around where needed. Now I use it in my bedroom to provide just the little bit of heat me and my Akita need in the winter, and when I need to warm up the bathroom I fire it up, close the door and 2 minutes later the bathroom is nice and warm without having to warm up the whole room. I also take it outside on the deck when its cold, the swivel and blower will keep the whole deck nice and warm. The 1 issue I have is the thermostat, its very fussy and I have to set it in microscopic increments to get the settings right, if you put it on the halfway settings it will not shut off until the temp is 85, its just poor scaled in my opinion #but mine is almost 5 years old so maybe they are better now). It is just a nice, versatile and dependable little heater.
What's great about it: Small, Lightweight, Portable, Instant Heat, Dependable
What's not so great: Thermostat settings are WAY too high

I waited almost a year before writing this review because durability is a big part of a product like a washer, and so far I could not be more pleased. I got the W/D combo on sale for $640 and they both are performing like champs. As an XY human all I was looking for was a simple, basic washer that did the job and this one is it: standard cycles, simple operation, clean clothes. The washer makes some odd buzzing and clicking noises as it balances the load that takes some getting used to, and you cannot stop it once it starts to add fresheners or whatever fusspots do mid-cycle, but that is of no concern to me. The quietest washer I have ever heard as well. I am a "Buy American" guy and the good folks at Amana build a darn good product and I can honestly say that I am as happy as I can be with this washer, so keep your money in America and buy Amana!

MIND BLOWING PICTURE! what else is there to say?

I purchased this marvel of technology to watch Blu-rays with, period. I do not game, it will never be hooked up to a computer. If you are looking for a small screen TV and have a box for cable or dish you do not need a TV's tuner anyway, so why pay for one? This monitor has 50,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time and no TV in the world this size can compare to that. I hooked it up to a Sony Blu-ray, put in "Fantasia" and just could not believe the picture. Flawless reproduction. Absolutely NONE of the shimmering that plagues the background of even high-end TVs. Eye-popping color. Not a trace of shadowing (2ms response time working there#. It is like watching a movie, so as far as the picture quality goes I have never seen a better one #and my family owned a TV store from the 1950s to the 80s so I take this stuff seriously! LOL). On to the misses: they are minor, but still...the "instruction" manual has about 26 different languages, is almost microscopic in size and what you can read makes precious little sense. I am having trouble making any adjustments as I just can't figure it out, but honestly other than the sound adjust the color and brightness are fine just the way they are. The sound is pretty lousy, my $300 Asus laptop has better, frankly, so I will be getting a sound bar one of these days. The bottom line for me is that this monitor has the best screen reproduction I have ever seen, is just the perfect size to sit on the coffee table next to my bed where I watch my movies and for that it is a solid 5 stars all the way!
What's great about it: no television can come close to the picture quality this monitor has...period!
What's not so great: stupid "instruction" manual, difficult to adjust controls, poor sound

Cheap build quality & feel, especially the flimsy disc drawer. If the player doesn't like the disc (even when Blu-ray disc is for the proper region & clean w/o scratch/blemish), then the player totally freezes, & no remote control function key can unfreeze it. Can't even turn off the player to reset it when it freezes; must 1st UNPLUG it from the power source & then reconnect. This 'freeze' has occurred w/2 different Blu-ray discs, but several other Blu-ray discs have played fine. The Fast Forward & Fast Rewind functions aren't nearly as user friendly or precise as the Click Shuttle Wheel & JOG function on our 14yr old Sony DVP-C675D DVD Player & Remote. The HDMI link between the Sony BDP-s7200 Blu-Ray Disc Player & our Sony X900B 4K TV provides a good picture.

Let it upgrade the softwear

I have a 4K, not this model, but mine did the same thing when I first got it and the only way to "unfreeze it" was, as you said, unplug it. After it downloaded new softwear instructions 3 or 4 times it ran perfectly for 5 months. Then I had another freeze up, unpluged, good to go for 2 months more now. Annoying, but it seems to be happy now, lol.

A few weeks before buying this device I was deciding between Chromebook or a low price Windows 10 computer. I have 6 year old imac and it runs better and faster than most newer windows computer, but they are very expensive. I can't afford an apple laptop. I don't have that kind of money! I analyse my computing usage and I concluded that most, if not all, my computing task are cloud based. I hardly use the computer's software. I use google drive for all my documents because it is simple and very productive. Before buying this Acer Chromebook I had purchase a Windows 10 HP computer that was about 60% off, open box + additional discount. The decision was mostly because it cost $150 and it was Windows 10. When I turned it on it took a while to open windows, then I had to go through the registration process. Microsoft wanted for me to create/join their different accounts services but I declined. When I completed the registration, the computer needed to update and it was announcing that it this will only take a moment. This is very typical with windows. I went to the kitchen, made myself a snack, talk to my wife for a while on how this new window is annoying as prior windows, and when I got back at the computer it still was updating. After it was complete, I used it for a while but I stopped and decided to return it because Cortana was continually popping up suggesting thing which I was doing on internet explorer. I knew I could turn off this feature but I decided at that moment that I will return this new annoying windows to the store and replace it with a chromebook.
The Acer Chromebook gave me a complete opposite experience. It only took 7 seconds to start up and a few minute to register the computer. It is lightweight and the batteries last a very long time. I can take this computer to my 3 hours night class and not worry about the batteries. The biggest PLUS is the quality of the screen. I enjoy this part because it get very close the the apple screens. The speaker sound very good and it is load. I am very satisfied with this laptop. THIS IS THE BEST ALTERNATIVE TO An Apple LAPTOP. Never again Windows computer. It requires wifi connection, but now a days there is connection everywhere. Worst case scenario of no wifi, most cell phone can be set up to allow tethering/ local wifi, just be careful of data plan. Most software are online, for example Quickbooks, Microsoft Office, .... An alternative to the costly and frequent newer version of Microsoft office is google docs/sheet/slide.... (IT is free, simple to use, and easy to share and open on any device).

I have had an HP Chromebook for 2 years and love it. Still performs flawlessly and the best part is what you had to say about buying a Windows OS computer: the ENDLESS "updates" that the fascists at microsoft subject you to almost every time you turn your comp on. NO MORE! No more lousy Windows that just happens to become corrupted a month after the warranty runs out, no more hard-drives to burn out, no more malware/spywear to buy. I have been looking to upgrade to HD as I am a vendor on Zazzle and my eyes ain't getting any younger.

With the Chromebooks you just hop onboard the internet, seamlessly and effortlessly. No constant updates and harassment from Google EVER. No new soft wear to buy EVER. No spy/mal wear to buy EVER. I still have an HP Chromebook that is 5 years old that works perfectly. Before that I went thru 3 Windows running, hard-drive burning comps in 5 years. The absolute best product for the 'web on the market. I just wish someone would make a 17" screen full HD.

Doubtful. This is a product for consuming the internet, not running/downloadig softwear. Most products like PhotoShop are for Windows OS. Save your comp'shard drive for computer purposes, use this to surf the 'net.

I can't answer that with 100% assurance Bill. That is 4K streaming. All I can say is I have watched full 1080p videos from YT and Netflix for hours with no buffering or pixelation. The Chrome OS code much simpler than Windows, so the slower processor can handle it. I absolute love this Acer. Fantastic picture, no hard drive to burn out, no soft wear to buy, no spy/mal wear. Just the perfect product for consuming the internet.

How many inches is it from the sides of the TV to where the TV stand legs are or what is the distance between the stand legs? The TV goes over our dresser 4 inches on each side so need to know if it fits with the stand. Hope this makes sense. Thanks!

I just want a television. Not interested in using apps or fancy applications. Live in an apartment building wired for cable. Is this tv right for me? Thank you.
It would be fine IF you have a cable box with an HDMI output. The unit itself has no tuner, but if you are using the cable box and remote you just set the "input" to the proper setting and you will be fine. However you will not be getting true 4K resolution.

BDPS6200 optical audio out to an older Dolby Surround A/V Receiver inputs?
Is it possible to use the optical audio output on this unit to the RCA inputs on an older Dolby Surround A/V receiver? If so what's necessary?
I don't know if there is a optical out/rca jack converter which is what you would need to do what you want, but I can tell you you cannot get 4K out of the optical. You have to have 4K HDMI cables and they have to plug into a 4K Pass Thru A/V system. Not even a Blu ray connection, it has to be 4K. I have a Sony 2.1 speaker system with 3 4K inputs that I LOVE. It's not a thundering bass system. just 2 3" forward and 2 4" sub-woofers but the sound is flawless, it looks like a piece of black marble, and costs $300. I play my CDs thru it and they sound fantastic. You could also get a 4K pass thru receiver and use your existing speakers.

Only if your DVD player has an input for cable. If you want to use the DVD player to watchwith your TV the player has to have an video output.

You need a self-powered speaker for the sub. I tried hooking up a sub from a computer speaker system and there was feedback so I am guessing there was a impedance issue and the worthless "specs" doesn't make mention of the ohms so a standard 8 ohm sub would be necessary.
