A Good Laptop for General Use

This is a nice little laptop. The i5 gives it the performance needed for a modern general purpose Computer and the 8GB of RAM helps keep the PC keep pace with switching between apps and not getting sluggish. The bloatware on this PC was a minimum. Just the Virus McAfee, which isn't too hard to remove and really not needed as Windows 10 default AV/Antimalware solution works well. Just ignore the scary warning is all when you uninstall. Your PC will be protected. Additionally a few other pieces of software such as games and such that are not needed. Acer's additional apps weren't too bad, and easily removed. I was disappointed that out of the box this PC does not meet Windows 10 Home ability to use device encryption. I don't like having unencrypted laptops. I did have a Windows 10 Pro key, which I used to access bitlocker, other may not care, or use 3rd party programs but it annoyed me. What is really slowing this PC down is the lack of an SSD, at least during setup and adding/removing programs as the 5400 RPM disk becomes a bottle neck. I like the space of 1TB, but that drive, after having all my other computers running SSD is making me look to upgrade this PC. However unless you are doing a lot of heavy disk I/O tasks at the same time you won't notice. In fact once it was setup, and just used as a basic computer for Office/Internet/Web conferencing I don't notice. The screen is a nice IPS panel. It folds easy and while 15" is a bit large for a tablet it was nice to be able to put the PC in that configuration and have it directly on my lap while using another computer/device. The PC didn't get hot and holding it like that was comfortable in that regard. I won't comment on the touchpad, because I jkust hate all touch pads, but having the ability to touch the screen makes this a better experience as I can skip the touch pad as needed.Overall if you are looking for a PC to consume streaming media/Office work (Not Office is a 30 day trial additional purchase needed)/Internet this is a good PC. The screen is great. Speakers are good for a laptop and loud enough to hear without the need of an external Bluetooth speaker. This is the laptop for you, but I would highly consider upgrading the Hard Drive to 1TB, but once you get out of the box setup done and get the apps updated and installed you want, you may not notice except during reboots etc. For when I want to sit on my chair and stream something, or do some general word processing this has been a great computer. The lack of the SSD marks it down a star, but that is easily fixed these days.

A Interesting Router

Let me state this is a perfect good router. I did not have one issue with it and it is still working strong in my house. I have not had one technical issue with the router. Setup like all recent Linksys products was quick, and painless and I was able to quickly swap the router and none in the household knew we where on the new router. Though with a new set of antenna I did have to change the location of my range extender, because even with this router there is still one small deadspot in my house and unfortunately I need a signal in that location. While the range is about the same as my previous Linksys 1900 and not better this one is able to handle multiple streams. I have only about 15 Mpbs where I live to the internet. For streaming and the household this is sufficient and serves us well, except when I download either an ISO for work or a game. Steam and Origins will take all the bandwidth unless I throttle them if others are using. The other night I forgot to turn on throttling and no one complained. I tested again and I am able to download at full speed and it doesn't inject lag into my kids online gaming or my Wife's streaming on Hulu. I will take the slight loss of range for the ability to truly maximize my bandwidth and download at full speed without everyone yelling at me. That one thing makes this a worthwild device to me.I like the MU-MIMO, because even though none of my wireless devices can take advantage of it, I do get consistent throughput and throughput this router does seem to give. Using my desktop computer with a 1300AC wireless card and a USB 2.0 External HDD Attached to the router I was able to max out the HDD and had a consistent throughput of over 25MB per second, which when the drive was connected directly to my PC was the same copy speed. I didn't have a 3.0 device to test but I would expect the same. I then tested streaming some 720p 60 fps video I shot and it worked as if it where local storage. So throughput this router has in spades. This is a good router for the ability to handle throughput and share it amongst everyone, and the fact it means I don't have to look to upgrade my Internet connection is awesome.

Great Little Streaming Tablet

This is a great tablet for consuming streaming video, such as You Tube, Hulu, Amazon Video. The IPS screen is vibrant and easily viewable at just about any angle. The Sound from the tablet is great too, even though the speaker in the back, I had no problem hearing it, even when the kids where running around. Setup of the tablet is easy, esp. if you have a Google account already and the performance is very snappy, switching apps etc. It fit nicely in one hand and as I said the screen is great, esp. for streaming content. It also has a pretty nice kids mode, that can be used to lock out the other functions of the tablet. Though I didn't test it fully, I just noticed it was there. I also enjoyed the fact the tablet has an active GPS chip in. Nice to have location services for those apps that can use it. I didn't have any problem streaming for a day. Just worked flawlessly. When I was done testing it, I wiped it, very simple and gave it another family member to setup. They had no issues and had it setup and running in minutes. They enjoyed the screen too and even though they have slightly smaller handers are able to one hand it. Battery life seems great too. I was able to get a easily a whole day out of it with streaming and light web with a few games like Planets vs. Zombies 2 in between doing things around the house. The only thing I can give a knock for this device is the WiFi isn't on the AC band, but it didn't stop me from enjoying this tablet. If you are looking for a simple tablet with a great screen of the Android type I can highly recommend this as the one you are looking for. Impressive build and nice solid feel. It is a great device. Does Exactly What you Need

This is a great little device. Is small unobtrusive and can be used to extend the Wi-Fi reception. Setup was very easy. Plugged it in, connected to the device from my Smart Phone and added it to the network. Since I have a Linksys Max Stream Router I can do seamless Wi-fi (More later), but first I tried it out as just an extension to my network like I didn't have a fancy Linksys router. Devices connected to it no issues and was able to access my internet from the device. Network testing to the internet didn't show an lag, I got my full speed and was able to browse with a nice strong signal. My Roku 2 box had no issues with HD content steaming.
After I was done with that I then switched on Seamless Wi-fi, since I have a compatible Linksys Wi-Fi router. This is where the extender really shines since it uses my already existing Wi-Fi network name, I doin't have to reconfigure my devices and can roam with strong coverage. Testing I did notice a quick drop/connect as it moved from one to the other, but it was quick and I only noticed since I was watching like a hawk. The video I was streaming didn't miss a beat.
IT is nice that the small portion of my house that couldn't get 5Ghz AC Now does and I don't have any issues with my Roku box in that room having trouble holding the signal for streaming.

As an added benefit it has a wired connection so if you have a device lacking a wireless card, or an older G card, you can hardwire the device into that as well, very handy for older blu-ray devices or desktops.
Overall setup was easy and quick. If you need to help improve wireless connection in your adobe or need a hardline for something, give this box a look, esp. if you are already had a recent Linksys Router (Though that isn't needed. I did hook up an old TP-Link router I had and while I lost the ability to have seamless Wi-Fi it did help me extend my Wi-Fi network, so if you need a range extender this is a good contender).

A Good Wireless Router

Our household has cut the cable cord so we rely on our wireless router. I can have over 20 devices on and accessing the Internet at any one time between the computers, tablets, game consoles, streaming boxes and phones. I had a perfectly service AC1900 router that provided full coverage to my house. I therefore swapped this router in the exact same place. Coverage seems equal is not slightly better then my older router. It could be from the beefier antenna. Setting up the router was an easy affair. Only downside was as soon as I connected it auto connected to the router for configuration. The setup was easy and I like th efact the router will auto update itself. That is nice to see that security patches can be pushed automatically and saves me from having to monitor it as I would with others. The Setup was something my mother could do, though I was not happy with the Smart Wi-Fi not taking a complex password. I did turn it on briefly to play with but after seeing it works and I could connect, I deleted my account. I do not like having connected devices to internet not protected by very long and complex passwords. If they update the system to take passwords that very log or enable some kind of two-factor so I can protect my network I will use the feature again, and if they do I will make sure my parents get one as I can support them easily. However until they do that I will not be using that feature. Otherwise setup was a breeze. My devices as I was fiddling with the different settings that required a radio reset would connect right back. We have run it for a week and no one has noticed the switch. The ability to set certain computers or protcols as High priority is easy and nice. We use Skype to talk to family and sometimes it lag because of a large download. The QOS settings worked great in the tests we ran, it made sure the Skype connection stayed. But otherwise noone has noticed a difference. Again that isn't a bad thing. I don't want to manage the device, and if people don't notice something working I consider it success. If they had two-factor for smart wi-fi, or at least password complexity and long passwords I would give this router five stars. But that missing secure feature on an other wise good router, If you have to support a large number of devices and need a modern router that at least for the first week and half I've had it been working without a hitch this would be the one for you. I did like the fact too that you can turn off all the lights. That is nice if you have it a bedroom or dark room and don't want to see the flashing. I wish more devices had that feature. I'm looking at you bright blue LED's from EVERYONE!

Good Sound Bar

This is a great little sound bar with Bluetooth that is just perfect for my living room when I just need to fill the room with music. It adds a nice room filling sound that is clear without being over loud. The Only con is the optical input requires PCM input and my optical out on my TV just doesn't do that. But the optical out from my desktop did drive the sound without an issue once I got it to output to the correct format and sounded great. The Bluetooth pairs quickly with phones and other devices, and have a good range. The wireless subwoofer drives a nice amount of base and can be placed for best effect if needed. I also like that the remote have a separate volume for the subwoofer. Overall this is a great 2.1 sound bar for a medium sized room that you need to fill with sound. If you need a simple system I don't think you can go wrong with this one.

OS is installed on the SSD not the HDD. But you could change it I guess. However if you are planning on swapping the SSD to something larger, not this the SSD in this PC is M.2 SATA SSD and not the 2.5" Inch form factor.

These headphones will work with anything that can send an Audio signal OUT via bluetooth. Not aware of any TV's or Sound bars with this feature.

If I wake this device up and my wife happens to rattle off our bank name and account number, is that information sent to Google to help improve their device's voice recognition? I am major worried about things like this with these devices
Once you say Hey Google, it will record and it gets stored on the Google Account associated with the device. Google does allow you to not only see what it has but delete it. They also added a H/W mute to prevent the device from recording. But yes they do store this information and use it.

Do I have to have a tablet or smart phone to activate this? Or, can I activate this from a laptop?
You need an Android (Phone or Tablet) or Apple (iPad/iPhone) device. Google unfortunately doesn't provide for use by Computer at this time and playing with the Android App I'd say you'd be better off with an Android device to get the most out this thing.

Will it help to stop buffering?
This depends on why you are having buffering issues. If your buffering issues are because your internet is slow/ISP not able to deliver no. That is outside the house. However if you have a good ISP/bandwidth coming into the house then this can help, as it improves coverage and since MU-MIMO devices are better able to share wireless with multiple devices. You may still need/wish to upgrade the wireless cards to the newer AC ones that support MU-MIMO to get additional throughput but this may help.
