Makes a Decent Cup

I have been using Keurig pod style brewers for years and have dabbled in larger whole bean (auto-grinding) coffee makers as well. The Ninja fall somewhere in the middle. It does provide the flexibility to use any ground coffee which to me is a big plus and even whole bean assuming you have a grinder. It is also very easy to clean with the silver screened filter. That is pretty much where the pluses end for me. The reservoir is too small in my opinion for anyone other than a single person who drinks maybe one cup of coffee per day. If you are using this in a family environment or like to drink multiple cups per day be prepared to fill the machine each day. The machine offers a Classic Brew and Rich Brew function that for the life of me I can't taste the difference between. I have been using Gevalia Majestic Roast in it since I received it and have tried using consistent scoop sizes between modes to see if the difference was pronounced. My last knock on the device is the lack of an auto-off timer. Overall, it's decent if you want to use your own ground coffee, but nothing special.

No frills, decent value

The Acer Iconia One 10 is a budget, no frills Android tablet. The screen has reasonable color reproduction, but the resolution is too low for this size screen. Processor is moderately snappy. It's not going to set the world on fire, but it can get basic tasks done such as internet browsing without any fuss. The tablet does offer side-by-side multitasking for specific apps and it handles them with ease. Battery life is actually a high point for the Iconia One. I got some of the best standby time I have ever experienced with an Android tablet. Not quite on par with an iPad, but far better than say a Galaxy Tab S. Audio is pretty average and nothing to write home about, but is serviceable. The microSD card slot is a nice addition given the relative limited space of the unit. As a whole, it is a decent value priced tablet and would make a good child's starter tablet.

Top-tier Tri-Band Router

The Linksys EA9500 replaced my Netgear Nighthawk X6 in my home. It is solid and well-constructed. Easy to setup and offers most standard functionality expected in a router (VLAN, DMZ, Port Forwarding, etc.). Even offers parental controls which allow you to isolate devices on the network and set up periods in which the devices can receive access. Great for families with tablets and young kids. The 8-port switch is a big bonus as most routers come with 4 or less. I initially had some instability with the router when pairing it with my MU-MIMO extender. Once I pulled the extender out of the equation the router became rock solid. Not sure what was going on there, but I will assume it is the fault of the extender as it was giving my Nighthawk fits too. In terms of range I would say the EA9500 is slightly less powerful than the X6. A surprise to me as I expected an improvement. Maybe with MU-MIMO devices I could achieve better long range performance, but with standard AC speeds were a tad lower than what I was getting with the X6 in my 3000+ sq. ft. home. On the plus side, the Smart Connect feature which consolidates both AC bands to a single SSID works considerably better than the Netgear implementation. I have been using the router for nearly a week now and have not had any issues with dropped signal or hangups causing me to reboot the router. A nice change as I ended up turning the feature off on my X6 and running 3 individual networks. As a whole, the router has been stable and fast. I am running on the initial firmware revision and have fortunately not come across any showstoppers. Based on my one week findings I would say the EA9500 is a keeper.

Decent Wi-Fi Extender

Received the RE7000 today and promptly set it up. The setup was painless and the browser method walks you through the steps. It does offer WPS setup, but I do not use WPS in my home. I also do not have an MU-MIMO router so I am not sure how much difference it would make, but I am using a Nighthawk X6 and used the RE7000 to extend the 5GHz channel. At the extreme corner of my house I was getting ~65mbps download according to SpeedTest on a 300mbps line. With the RE7000 in operation it boosted to ~110mbps. Nearly double the speed for 3 minutes of my time setting it up. Overall, it is a decent piece of kit and does what it promises. Once I get a MU-MIMO router I will update this review with my findings.

Coming from plasma and OLED and I am pretty stunned how far LED-LCD has come. The picture quality is among the best I've seen. Black levels are solid with minimal to almost non-existent black lift at high contrast intersections. The only thing I don't care for on the TV is the use of Android TV, but I am hopeful that will continue to improve. Expensive yes, but for me it is worth every penny.

Best Picture I've Seen On A TV

I am coming from a 65" Panasonic plasma to the LG and all I can say is that the size concerned me at first, but the picture quality more than makes up for it. For me, OLED is a bigger deal than 4K in a TV. I also own a 4K projector and there the resolution makes sense, but I definitely don't get the contrast and color depth that I get on the LG. Do yourself a favor and take a hard look at this TV. All others will pale in comparison.

As an upgrade from an Epson 5010, the Sony VW600ES is on a completely different playing field. It may not be quite as bright at the Epson, but the resolution, color quality, and 3D performance is second to none in this price class. You could probably spend more for that last 10% of improvement, but why? If you have the money and are serious about your home theater, this is it.

I currently have the Netgear NightHawk router. Will this be better than that, and should I get rid of that one?
I previously owned a Nighthawk X6 and more recently a Linksys EA9500 (which was a vast improvement over the Nighthawk). I have been using the Orbi system for about a week now and I can say that in a two story home I have noticed significant improvement in signal strength and throughput over the EA9500. If you have some weak or dead zones in your house now, the Orbi system could most likely fix them.
