It's been a decade since the events at Raccoon City, and the President of the United States has decided it's time to reveal the truth behind what happened. His hope is that it will calm the resurgent tide of bioterrorist activity, but when the venue where the President is located is central to a bioterrorist attack, he is transformed beyond recognition. His personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, is forced to face the changed President and make the hardest decision of his life. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China and finds the nation under threat of a similar bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from harm and the subsequent outbreaks, the entire world has one thing in common: fear that there is no hope left.Return to the horribly disfigured world of the Resident Evil universe with Resident Evil 6. Facing an unprecedented threat that looms in the minds of the world's population, franchise-favorites Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield join forces for the first time in the series. The latest installment to the legendary action- and survival-horror franchise delivers three distinct and interwoven storylines. Experience the thrilling horror with multiple characters and their respective partners. Leon S. Kennedy is paired with U.S. government agent Helena Harper, Chris Redfield has teamed up with BSAA member Piers Nivans, and Jake Muller, son of the infamous Albert Wesker and gun for hire, has joined up with Sherry Birkin, who is the daughter of former Umbrella scientists, William and Annette. Face the deadly C-virus — and its gruesome effects — in this worldwide adventure that will take you to North America, war-torn eastern Europe and China. Engage in white-knuckle combat against terrifying and advanced zombies that can run, jump and use weapons against you. Strategically attack enemy creatures, known as J'avo, who possess the ability to regenerate when injured and mutate severely damaged body parts into different forms. Experience a vast array of horrific creatures — that are an abomination to nature — thanks to the mutated Chrysalide. Use the evolved control system to shoot while moving, slide, roll, take cover and execute powerful melee attacks. Lock and load for the thrilling action in single-player and co-op gameplay, available on- and offline. Pre-order Resident Evil 6 to receive an exclusive map that functions with various game modes. With humanity on the brink of disaster, are you ready to become civilization's last hope?

Sub-par shooter wrapped in the wrong package

I bought my very first PlayStation in 1998. What a great experience. The game I got with it was Resident Evil 2, which is still one of my very favorite games today. It was bold, challenging offered a somewhat decent plot, and served to scare the mess out of me on more than one occasion. Unfortunately, Resident Evil 6 has none of these things. What set the Survival Horror genre apart as an open, mystery-solving series of horror and intrigue has degraded in to a linear, dime-a-dozen shooter with some controller-throw-inducing mini-games (don't get me started on the rope climb in the Leon campaign), sluggish cover mechanics, and a feel that Capcom is finally trying way too hard to appeal to the masses rather than make a great game.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
