Fast Shipping and Good Price!

If you have a GE refrigerator and you need this, you don't have much choice. They have stopped stocking these in the store, so I had to order it online. The price was competitive (I'm an Amazon Prime member, so I did an online search there and others) and they delivered it in three days.

One Year Later...

...and this is still a winner. My old microwave was very good, but the improvements over the years are significant. Now, after a year of use, I can tell you this microwave cooks very evenly, has an excellent defrost cycle and has plenty of power. I have absolutely no complaints about it whatsoever.
I was pleasantly surprised at the price also. It was significantly less than comparable size microwaves. I read about problems with the hinges, but I haven't had any. Conscious of the reviews, I have taken care not to slam the door, but I see no evidence of any problems at all.

Saw It In The Theater and HAD To Have It!
on January 6, 2016

I collected Marvel comics as a kid and have enjoyed all the Marvel films -- even Fantastic Four! So, I'm biased toward them. But this has to rank as one of my very favorites. Frankly, I was a little skeptical about it, but it is so well done, with a great story and humor that I've watched it a couple of times already. Highly Recommended.

I had never seen any of the Despicable Me films until I bought this one for my grandsons. We all laughed, ages 3 to 63. I bought the rest of the series after this!

OK. A Bit Cartoonish.

Given a lot of BBC Productions have very high production values and strong plots and character development, I was hopeful this would be an engaging and intelligent series. Well, its OK, but not a remotely serious. I was hoping for something that was something like a Marvel Comics movie, a bit out there, but sufficiently well done that you suspend your disbelief. Well, not here. Again, it's OK, but after three episodes, I'm done.

Good Drive with Some Problems
on February 4, 2015
Posted by: Heloduck
This could be an excellent drive. When it's working, It does everything it is advertised to do and does it well.
BUT -- as some have already noted, it doesn't come with any software. You could spend as much as $100 for a Blu Ray s/w package. I already had Nero, but there is definitely an incompatibility between the drive, Nero, and my Dell XPS 12 video card. The drive crashes or won't detect the Blu Ray disc. I've worked with Nero and they say it's my video card. Well, that's not the case. The drive works flawlessly with CyberLink. Still, Nero's pretty mainstream, so the drive won't work with it, and that's a problem. That problem could be Pioneer's, Nero's, or Dell's, but it is still a problem. That said, Nero works fine with DVDs. Just Blu-Rays are a problem. But that's the reason I bought a Blu Ray drive, so it's kind of a showstopper. The bigger problem is that there was no software with the drive. Which I don't understand because I purchased it's sibling, the BDR-XD05B and it came with the complete CyberLink suite. It works flawlessly with my Dell XPS 12. I have now seen this drive (the BDR-XD05S) is made for Apple computers. But it also says it works with Windows, so I bought it. Nowhere does Pioneer or Best Buy say "Apple Only", so one would assume that it would work fine. It didn't.
As an aside, I gave it to my son who has a new Dell XPS 15 (Dec. 14) and he doesn't have any problems with it. He doesn't have Nero (bought Cyberlink) so I have no idea if the problem doesn't exist with the XPS 15 video card, etc. But so far it is working fine.
There's one other issue. USB 3.0 Wi-Fi interference. When using the drive, my 100 mps + Wi-Fi signal goes to 5 - 10 mps. Unplug the drive, it goes back up. Can't prove it's the drive, but that's what it looks like to me. BTW, the same thing happens with the other Pioneer drive. So, you're not going to be surfing the net while burning a CD.
Is that specific to my XPS 12 and somehow related to my Wi-Fi card? Don't have any idea. It's the only USB 3.0 laptop I have so I have nothing to compare it to.
So, with the right software, the drive works well. Ironically, I would have probably given the drive 5 stars if they had included the same Cyberlink S/W package Pioneer included in the BDR-XD05B. I probably would never have even found out about the Nero incompatibility. But if you are going to force the consumer to go out an buy s/w to even use the hardware, you ought to test it with the major players on the market and try and resolve any incompatibilities. I definitely consider Dell and Nero major players, so given this, and the Wi-Fi interference, I wouldn't recommend it.

does it come with its own driver and/or does windows 8.1 reconize it as a blu-ray

It didn't come with any disc, driver, software, etc. Windows 8. 8.1, and 10 all recognized it and installed the driver automatically. Ran fine.

However, this drive is focused on Macs. The best similar drive for a Wndows machine is the Pioneer Slim External Blu Ray Writer BDR-XD05B (Black) -- and it comes with the Cyberlink Media Suite, so you can play DVDs and Blu Ray discs. If you buy this drive, you will have to buy software to play anything.

Include CyberLink software?

Does this package include the CyberLink software like the BDR-XD05B offering?
No. No software whatsoever. There are other very similar Pioneer drives that do include the Cyberlink Media Suite.

I bought this for my son, but since it didn't have software, I kept it. I have Roxio and Nero. I then purchased the Pioneer Slim External Blu Ray Writer BDR-XD05B (Black) which DOES come with the CyberLink media Suite. All works flawlessly with three different Dell XPS ultrabooks in my house, purchased in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

need a CD Player to upload music to iTunes from CD's. most reviews are about downloading. what aboat uploading?

Haven't specifically uploaded, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work. It rips CDs fine, which is essentially the same thing, just a different destination.
