good replacement if u have xfinity...when it works

Given all the positive reviews, I suppose im probably an exception. My xfinity/comcast modem died so I figure I'd just get this as a replacement. Set up is easy - basically plug in everything as normal and give you isp a call to configure it remotely and I liked it because despite being a simple modem with no bells or whistles, it was 1/4 the size of the one from my cable company. Took the rep an extra try or 2 but it was set within 15 minutes.
It worked great for about 1 1/2 weeks and then the connection went out and the "download" light is red and as I pick it up to power cycle, it was very hot to the touch. I let it cool off and about 8 hours later the same thing occured (it was downloading/uploading a fair amount but this was the first time I had issue with a netgear product and the first in general with overheating. It's happened once a day for the next 4 days since, and then twice today. If I exchange for another of the same modem then I'll update my score

looks good. it's small. feels well built...but it was D.O.A. (tested it with different chargers as well) and wouldn't even power on. Documentation inside the box didn't even match the product. I can't believe this originally had a $170 MSRP

No HDMI dedicated to HD Audio output
By JC562 from Orlando FL
If you have a receiver that is more than a year old this XBOX will not support HDCP 2.2 HDMI 2.0 for 4K video and Dolby TrueHD audio.

This is more an issue with HDCP 2.2 as a standard as a whole and terrible encryption ideas because of copyright-protection policies. The console would need to use 2 separate standards to accommodate both old and more "future-proof" methods because older devices CANNOT be upgraded to HDCP 2.2.
While I don't agree with knocking off 2 stars for tech trying to modernize (this would be like complaining that a BR player is junk because it didn't have a 2-screw UHF adapter on the back to hardwire it to a 1970's era TV), IT IS GREAT YOU brought this to people's attention and should be stressed more by manufacturers and retailers of tech to help the customer. Research before you buy and MOST IMPORTANTLY inform yourselves of how the MPAA, RIAA, etc. abuse copyright law at our expense - make noise about it with your politicians and network media hacks who try to sell you to accept it
