Superior A/V Receiver for both Movies and Music
on September 26, 2016

I have the YAMAHA 3060 for a little over a month and enjoying it . Before I made the purchase I downloaded the manual and read it a few times so when I received the unit set up was a breeze. The YPAO for room calibration takes only minutes. I currently only have a 5.1 speaker configuration and will now branch out o 5.1.2 or 5.1.4 for ATMOS and DTS-X. I am also using it as a Pre-Pro with a seperate 5 channel 500 watt per channel SUNFIRE SIGNATURE amp. But the internal YAMAHA amps are more than enough.
Both music and movies are incredible sounding.. I am hearing more than I ever heard from any other receiver. Effects are breathtaking and dialogue is crisp and intelligent and you can also increase just the dialogue level if you wish and that works amazingly well for soundtracks where you need to raise the dialogue a bit.
And for those who are skeptical with DSP's...try them ...you don't have to by choosing STRAIGHT MODE but try the DSP's also...you may be very surprised how well they work(my favorites are STANDARD,SCI-FI and ADVENTURE and DRAMA). Trust me this may be the A/V receiver to end all A/V receivers. It is future proof so you may not have to replace it for years.

Jaw Dropping...Litterally

I have always purchased Sony televisions for over 25 years..I even had the very first XBR model back when...so it was no surprise that this Sony XBR 65 inch 4K model is probably the best on the market. Remember it is Sony who introduced 4K in movie theaters so stick with a Sony if you are planning on the 4K plunge. Right out of the box without any tweaks the picture is amazing. This Triluminos display that the television has brings out the best colors I have ever seen. The 4K upscale from regular HD cable programming is litterally jaw dropping. Most scenes(programming) look so crisp and clear and so colorful that it looks almost 3D like.(and I am not using the 2D to 3D upconversion)..Remember it also depends on the channel you are watching, the transmission of the signal. When the transmission is not so good there's nothing much that can be done(gargbage in-garbage out),but when the signal is perfect you will be amazed at the clarity and color. And its not just me--I recently had a few guests over and their reactions were "It's beautiful".."I just can't believe the picture"..."It's stunning" was a few of their actual reviews.
I have not experemented with actual 4K content or Mastered in 4K Blu Ray content but if regular HD cable programming is this good..I cant wait to see actual 4K content.(You tube does have some 4K content you can experiment with and I can only say "wait till you see it to believe it")
The 3D is also simply amazing...Wait till you see 3D upscaled to 4K!
I know the price is high at approx $5K but this is the TV that you may have for the next 10+ years,so its a great investment. I have to go now and continue watching the best television I have ever seen....
Internet content most enjoyed: Netflix,You tube and Hulu Plus

It's all about the pic
By BigDaddyDetroit from Detroit
I bought this for 2 reasons. The Pic is jaw dropping. My buddies Samsung 8000 series has it, I had just seen a OLED 1080p tv at a computer store that's picture was even better (much better), but the price was 6k for 55" wow! Then I saw this at BB. The pic was awesome. Better than Samsung and I am, or at least was, a Samsung fan. At the store, this had everything Samsung beat (pic wise) , except maybe the new Samsung curved TV but the curved has some issues form what I have read. Reason 2, I got mine on Open Box clearance so the price was right., I saw it the night before right before closing and almost bought it right then, but I am not rich, so I went home and did my research. Amazing pic (which I already knew) but for this TV, as of right now, there is not a single way at all to get it to play a 4k source. Sony's own 4k media player, not compatible. Since this is already last years model, most the internet experts say that even when the 4k standard is settled, this is not, or won't be, upgraded or compatible, so there is a good chance this will be a great 1080p upconvertor TV that will not play any true 4k source from anywhere: Downloads, discs, streaming etc, all not gonna play. Now I recently spoke with Sony (about a Blu-Ray) for this TV and they said that it will be upgraded when the standard comes out, but again most the other owners and bloggers say that they have already dropped 4k support for this model and will not support/upgrade it in the future. However, I wanted a bigger tv right now. Mine was 52 and showed great, but I did not want to wait another year or 2 for the UHD battle to settle and with the price I got, I am happy with this TV even if they don't support it for 4k. The pic on 720 0r 1080 sources is awesome. There have been very few times only on certain types of scenes that I have seen any artifacts at all. I am picky about such things too. I cannot imagine a 4k source being much better. Awesome pic. Now when you display a lower definition source, that goes out the window. The magic is gone. Pixelations, lines, blurs, color richness, depth, all gone. I guess there is only so much upconverting you can do til you lose something. Low def is not bad, but it looks no better that a regular 1080p TV to me. Even the Sony 4k Blu-Ray player that is the suggested player for this tv (Sony media player's not compatible) only upconverts 1080p to 4k. They do not upconvert lesser definition at all. I did not and cannot rate the sound as I hooked this up to a sound bar and have never used the actual TV sound. In conclusion, except for OLED, I consider this the best 1080p display out, great pic, but not actually a true 4k TV as it probably will never be able to play a 4k source unless Sony proves me and others wrong.

Wrg about the 4k...
June 11, 2014
I have the same TV ...65 inch 850A model and bought it when it first came out and paid $5K (the price it was then). One of the firmware updates gave you the 4K 2.0 that is needed on the TV's HDMI inputs. So now it is ready ...set.... go. And now ofcause Sony's latest 4K 2014 television sets have the decoder chip that allows true 4K streaming from Netflix, etc. But not to worry. Sony thought of that problem also for 2013 4K TV owners like us. Their new 4K media player has the DECODER built in so we 2013 4K TV owners are now complete and missing nothing!!! Just go to the Sony site and read more about this new unit and also you can also see it and read about it on the Best Buy site --- the new Sony 4K media player coming out this summer (by the way if you buy it now it has a pre-sale price of $499 rather than spend the actual cost of $699 when it's finally released)-I myself just ordered the new Sony 4K media player at the pre-sale price on line at Best Buy site for $499.00 and awaiting delivery when its released this Summer.

there are no actual 4K Blu Ray players out at the moment...there are no actual 4K Blu ray discs either at the momnet...possibly they will be coming out in 2015 is what I hear. Either way your 6200 player(and any other players like yours)can only upscale a standard DVD or Blu Ray disc to near 4K quality...this is only if you have a 4K TV to begin with. Without a 4K TV no upscaling to 4K can be achieved but the picture will still look quite good at High Definition. Only a 4K TV can display either an upscaled 4K picture like your player can do OR when actual 4K players come out and 4K Blu Rays come out the 4K TV can display that also.
The only way you can see actual 4K content at the moment is with the new SONY 4K media player the FMPX10 at $699.00. Again provided you have a 4K TV to display it on. The FMPX 10 has actual 4K content /films you can rent/or prurchase and now Netlix also has some 4K movies and TV shows that you can stream. Coming soon the FMPX10 will also have Amazon 4K where you can do the same. But a 4K TV is needed regardless
