Wiggle waggle!
on June 30, 2009

When the Nintendo Wii came out I though to myself: the Wii remote would make the perfect lightsaber controller. Well, it is not perfect, but it gets you close to it. However, the controls for this game requires too much waggling: wiggle the nunchuck and you control force powers; wiggle the remote and you control your lightsaber. During boss fights the game asks you to wiggle either. That said, I suppose the controls feel more natural than, say, pushing buttons on a classic controller. Boss fights can be a pain and repetitive - if you don't follow on screen wiggles precisely.
Nonetheless, the game itself is fun and engaging. Worth the $20 price.
What's great about it: Finally, wield your game controller like a lightsaber.
What's not so great: Too much waggling of the Wii remote needed.

Great fun!

I agree with most of what others have said. This is a great kid-friendly game that can be a bit hard for really young players. Here's a tip for playing with the youngsters: older players should enter as the same ages as the youngest ones, this way the game will always ask questions targeted to the youngsters. You'd be surprised at the questions that can stump you at this age level.
We played this game at many a family game night. Highly recommended at $20.
What's great about it: Great fun for family game night.
What's not so great: Can be hard for really young players. Tip below.

Good game. Great price!

I can't believe Lego Batman is $20 now. I got this last Christmas for $50, but even at that price this game is worth it. I would say this game is as good as Lego Star Wars -- lots of levels, puzzles and "special" powers. Of course the cuteness of the game is always a plus, but the game play is great too. As with the other Lego adventure games, after you've played it twice it gets boring - once to get through the story, and twice to get all the bonuses. But at $20, I'd highly recommend this even for non-fans.
What's great about it: Fans of the Lego adventures games will love the price.
What's not so great: Doesn't stand up to repeated plays.

I'm glad these Lego adventure games are getting cheaper. My family bought this game for me last year for $50. Though not as great as Lego Star Wars or Lego Batman, this game is good fun for a fan of either the Lego adventure games or of the Indiana Jones movies.
What's great about it: Price! Nice adventure game.
What's not so great: Doesn't hold up to repeated playing.

One of my favorite Wii games.

This game is really best played by one player. It is an adventure game with lots of puzzles to solve and enemies to dispense with. This game is also best played twice: once to get through the cuteness of the story; and a second time to get all the bonuses (bricks, unlockables and whatnot). After that, it doesn't really stand up to a casual gamer who just wants a quick fun game. The game is relatively easy with unlimited lives and simple, repetitive puzzles (hence 3 stars for "Challenge")-- sure I would get stuck at a couple of particularly hard puzzles, but I eventually get through it.
That said, I really love this game -- but maybe that's because I am a Star Wars fanboy at heart. In our household there are two types who play this game: 1. Me - a 34-year old kid who wants to relive the Star Wars movies, and who enjoys adventure games; and 2. my two nephews, ages 8 and 9, who just want to destroy everything in sight.
What's great about it: Everything! Especially for a Star Wars fanboy as myself.
What's not so great: Doesn't really hold up to repeated playing.

Pressure cooker changed our lives!
on June 21, 2009

I'm quite surprised that Best Buy if offering this awesome product, since it is non-electric. But I just wanted to say that a pressure cooker makes cooking so much easier -- or so my wife tells me, since I can't cook; and so much faster -- this I can definitely attest to.
I've actually used this same brand/model pressure cooker at my previous job at a research laboratory for antigen retrieval of epitopes for immunohistochemistry.
But be it for work or home, this product is built to last. Perhaps the only downside is that the interior stains easily and cleanup (which is my contribution to the kitchen chores) can be tough and requires much elbow grease.
Every home needs one of these!
What's great about it: Cooks our food fast.
What's not so great: Clean up can be tough.

Noise-cancelling and durable, comfortable for some
on June 19, 2009

My wife actually got this for herself, but it was uncomfortable for her so she stopped using it. In the meantime, I go through headphones/earphones like it was candy. I found these blue JVC earphones one day and I decided to give it a try -- going on 2 years later, these earphones continue to last.
These earphones are quite comfortable, I regularly wear them on my hourly commute to and from work/home. They cut out background noise well -- perfect for commuting on buses and trains, or for shutting out distractions when I'm working or studying.
Importantly, they sound great. I can hear a wide range without having to crank my iPod's volume to max -- which makes my ear drums and ear doctor happy.
The best thing about this product is its durability -- it gets yanked, pulled, wrapped around my iPod, stuffed into my jeans pocket and my bag -- and it keeps on going. For roughly $20 this is a great buy.
What's great about it: Cuts out ambient sound well; continues to last going on 2 years; cheap!
What's not so great: Comfortable fit for me, not so for my wife.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great, strong, if bulky, backpack.

This backpack is near-perfect. I've tried out a number of cheaper ones but this has outlasted them all. First and most important, it stores and protects my laptop well. I take this backpack with me everyday, everywhere I go -- on my daily commute on buses and trains, as well as longer trips on planes where it counts as my carry-on.
It has a lot of compartments to fit everything I need daily: laptop accessories such as a mouse, cables, external hard drive, iPod, chargers, AC power adapter; my school stuff: notebooks, pens, the occasional book; extra change of clothes, lunch box, mini-umbrella -- the point is that there are enough zippered compartments to be able to store all of the above and more, and still keep everything organized.
The only downside is its width/bulk - it seems to keeps its width/bulk whether I pack in everything I mentioned above, or pack nothing at all. I wish this had an adjustable strap on its sides to reduce its width when it is called for. Other than that, this backpack is an excellent buy. I've very happy with it.
What's great about it: It stores everything I need. Great protection for my laptop.
What's not so great: Bulky. Expensive but worth the price.

Bad, but not as bad as other reviewers say.
on June 16, 2009

I will echo what other reviewers have said: this is a bad product made worse by its extremely high price. I do not recommend that people buy this at the regular price (~$80). However, this product indeed does what it is supposed to do: it charges my laptop.
The original power adapter that came with my HP dv4000 laptop broke after a year, so I first bought a cheap universal AC adapter off Amazon. That lasted only about 6 months, so I decided to spend the extra $$$ to buy this HP-brand power adapter thinking it will be higher quality. While this product indeed charges my laptop it is showing signs of breaking soon. What makes this a bad product is that the connections between its pieces are loose that it comes off easy -- a little tug and it pulls apart, often I don't even notice the adapter has come apart until my laptop goes into hibernation mode.
I'm just waiting for this product to stop working. When it does but I won't buy it again.
What's great about it: Charges my laptop.
What's not so great: Connections are loose and come off easy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I was going off to graduate school and I knew I will be lugging my laptop around with me to the libraries, classrooms, various labs, and finally to my thesis lab. I I needed a way to secure my laptop, so I went to Best Buy, found the cheapest cable lock on sale that week and picked up this product. Four years and two laptops later, I am still using this cable lock. I am paranoid about leaving my laptop at work/lab overnight so I bring it home and back to work with me everyday, yes, that means even on most weekends and holidays because... well, I'm a grad student. So I have been attaching and detaching this cable almost everyday for four years and it has not failed me.
I liked that the cable is long because I am also securing an iMac G5 (which has that big hole in the back stand) as well as my laptop.
After 4 years the lock casing is showing signs of wear as the casing is coming slightly loose. If it does break, I will likely go back to Best Buy and get the cheapest cable lock on sale that week -- I have no reason to prefer this brand over others. I only wish these cable locks did not cost so much, but at ~$40 it is a good price for piece of mind.
What's great about it: Fits and secures my laptop at work/school. Long cable.
What's not so great: Casing got kinda loose after 4 years of daily use.
