I have TWC and the modem I was renting from them kept dropping the wifi signals on the 2.4ghz and also on the 5.0 ghz networks which also resulted in multiple modem restarts. I went ahead and made the decision to purchase the modem to test how it would function, and surprisingly I have had no issues with the modem or the TWC service. The Wifi stays connected all the time on either 2.4 or the 5.0 wifi frequencies. Def with the buy.

When setting up unit, there are 2.5 & 5 - connecting IPad 2, Samsung pad, & older lap-top running MS Vista. I am guessing IPad & Samsung @ 5 and lap-top 2.5 ----- is that feasible, or is it one or the other?
The wifi settings for 2.5 is when the devices are not in the same room as the modem giving out the wifi signal. The 5.0 wifi signal is designed to have devices connected while in the same room as the modem which can also help with the speed of the devices being on the internet.

How do I know which cable gateway devices have e-mta support, so I can hook up my phone? I would also prefer one that has a battery backup.. I have xfinity comcast if that helps, and am trying to avoid paying the lease fee... Thank you
Normally Comcast should have a list of updated compatible modems. I would say take down the model number of this modem and call them to verify that its compatible with their services. Based off that answer make ur purchase. Now to answer your question about one having a battery backup.. the modem your looking at comes from the same line that mine does and there isn't a battery that goes with it. In the box they give you the ethernet cable to connect to your computer and also the power cable to physically plug into the electrical outlet. With connecting your phone, if you have a smartphone like an android or iPhone the wifi could work on the device from the modem. One thing I was advised of also before I made a purchase of a similar modem was to make sure the speed of your internet plan is compatible with modem otherwise that can also cause a lot of issues.
