using with iphone

I use an iPhone and have used a Apple Watch with it. While i was very happy with the Apple Watch I just couldn't get use to the square design of it. I like round watches of the "sport" type. I'm 54 years old, maybe i'm old school?! LOL
I purchased the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier yesterday and downloaded the Gear App on my iPhone. Set up was fairly easy and straight forward.
There are some features that do not work with the iPhone but hopefully future updates on the GEAR iOS App will correct this.
For what i wanted i am very impressed and happy. These are the features i wanted and work well. Make and receive phone calls, mostly i just wanted it to display who's calling so I know whether I need to take my phone out of my pocket. Receive text messages and emails, again so i can decide if I need to pull my phone out. At this time you can not reply to either, hopefully down the road with an update. Track fitness goals, get notifications from FB , View my upcoming Schedule etc. For all these things it works great. S-Voice (like Siri) does not work real well. Hopefully they'll get that fixed or add "hey Google".
Appearance wise I think the S3 Frontier is a nice looking oversized watch. At 46mm it is a large watch, but large watches are in these days, and it makes for a nice screen size to work with. The display is beautiful and well laid out and the functionality of the rotating bezel works very well.
As I said, I'm very happy using it with my iPhone for what I wanted out of it. I'm not into playing games or reading news stories on my watch. I want it for the time and notifications along with weather info without have to take my phone out of my pocket, and for this it works great.
The build quality seems excellent and the packaging is beautiful, Apple level, maybe better! The best part is the packaging turns into a very nice bedside charging port and stand. In my opinion, a much better looking watch than the Apple Watch. This coming from a somewhat Apple "fanboy"! You've done good on this one Samsung! Now hopefully it won't blow up on my wrist! ;)
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very happy ith this purchase

I'm a bit of a techno geek so I bought this just because. We have iPads, iPhones, Laptops etc. In our house.
My quick comparison between the Surface and the iPad is this: In its "naked" state (without cases) I like the feel of the Surface better. I like the screen dimensions of the Surface better, its not as square as the iPad. I really like the snap on touch keyboard cover for the surface. Its a full functioning keyboard with a mouse. Its also a cover that can be folded all the way behind the surface when using it just as a tablet. The cover turns off when folded behind so there is no worries of accidentally pressing keys. I purchased the touch cover 2, the difference on the 2 is it has backlit keys which are nice in low light situations. Another advantage over the iPad is the FREE Microsoft office suite that comes with it. I use Excel and Word often. One downfall for some people is that the Surface RT uses a ARM processor which will not allow you do add other windows programs that are not in the Microsoft store, For more $$ the Surface Pro will allow you to add your own windows programs. The Windows store is not nearly as extensive as the Apple store for apps, but it improves daily and I have not found it to be a problem myself.
This unit has a USB port, which is nice for a lot of things. A micro SD card slot to add tons of storage space if needed, or to transfer photos from your camera etc. And it also has a micro HDMI to HDMI port to connect to your TVs. This works great for doing slide shows of your favorite picture, movies, playing games or whatever, the picture quality is excellent! I bought a 10 foot cable off ebay for $5.39 shipped and it works perfect. The surface cable is $29.99 at retail stores and is only 14 inches.
Overall I give the Surface RT 2 thumbs up!!
What's great about it: functionality and price
What's not so great: nothing
I would recommend this to a friend!

Surface and Atmel Studios compatibility

Can you run Assembly/C language on a Microsoft surface? I would like to buy it so I can run ATMEL Studios 6.1 for my electrical engineering classes.
Not on a RT. You'll have to go with the PRO
