Picture could be better, but overall a cool camera
on November 10, 2020
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
Even 360 view without distortion
Multiple camera modes
Easy set up
USB A or USB C
Con:
A bit of lag
Mic isn’t great
Picture has noise and jaggy
This is a nice camera for conference calls or to capture a large area. For the majority, it works really well. The 360 degree mode is just cool. It has some distortion for close ups and background, but the mids look fine. You can switch between a single wide shot, a split screen, or a one or dual host mode. You can adjust the position of the hosts with the touch bar letting you focus on one or two people. You can switch to a normal single view camera which has a standard and wide angle mode. The wide angle has some distortion around the corners.
The camera has an overall solid heft to it. It stands about 8 inches tall, and has a metal base. It has a very long USB C cable along with a USB A adapter attached at the end. It does get warm after using it for a while but I think it’s still within the norm.
The picture is alright. There’s some compression noise and banding in the colors which seems to vary between different apps. In 360 mode, it’s on the darker side and seems to need really bright overhead lighting, while in standard mode, the same lighting can make it look washed out. There’s also a bit of lag and fast movements don't look great. While I probably wouldn’t use it for content creation, it’s not bad and should be fine for a typical video call.
The mic is no better or worse than what you would expect from a webcam. It works, but it’s far from being crisp and clear.
If you do a lot of group meetings, conference calls, or maybe even teaching, I can see this being very useful. While the image can be grainy and compressed, the various 360 modes is a nice feature.

Sounds good. Lightweight. Mic is too quiet.
on October 23, 2020
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Lightweight
-Good audio
-Battery life
Con:
-Few adjustments
-Mic is a little quiet and muffled
-Feels plasticy and cheap
Build and Comfort
These are one of the lightest headsets I have, but the all plastic build is hollow and makes it feel cheap even though it’s overall solid with no flex. The headband is soft rubber, which I actually prefer to the fabric foam, but there’s a notch cutout in the middle with sharp corners which press down on your head causing some discomfort. The clapping force is very light and I had no issue wearing them for a long session. The foam padding is fine, but it’s not very dense and I wonder how long they’ll last. There’s practically no adjustments other than vertical adjustment and a very slight pivot for the cups. The mic is flexible, stays in place, and is the right length.
Audio
The audio is overall good. The high and mids are clear and the bass has a good amount of boost to it. Subtle noises like footsteps are distinct and easy to discern directions from. There’s three EQ presets, balanced, tremble boost, and bass boost. I find them all alright, but the bass boost lowers the other sounds a bit too much.
Mic
The mic is ok for voice chat, but it’s too quiet and muffled, yet is sensitive enough to clearly pick up my breathing. Even with the mic right next to my mouth, it still sounds like I’m speaking with my mouth covered.
Battery
Battery life is great. I can play for at least 10 hours on a charge.
PC
I did a quick test on the PC, and it worked right away. You do have to click the button on the receiver to switch modes. The mic is still quiet on the PC as well.
If you’re looking for an entry level wireless headset, I think these are really good. It’s light and mostly comfortable to wear for a long time, with the exception being the sharp angle on the band. The adjustment is limited, but it gets the job done. The audio is good with the games that I’ve tried them with and the battery should last you through most of the day. The mic isn’t great, being somewhat quiet and muffled, but good enough for voice chats.

Grainy, overexposed, and bad mic.
on October 14, 2020
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Plug and play
Con:
-Grainy
-Overexposed
-Bad auto focus
-Terrible mic
For the price, this camera is not worth it. The picture is grainy and overexposed in a lit room, and dark in low light. The mic is bad. It barely picks up anything and when it does, it sounds like someone is talking through a wall. If this was a cheap sub $40 camera then maybe it’s fine in a pinch, but the price is the same as other more reliable brand names. My old c615 is better than this.
Build
The camera feels light. It’s on a fold out stand that can convert to a clamp or attached to a tripod. It can pivot up and down but not side to side. It includes a clip on lens cover and a 5’ usb cable. It’s plug and play, so no software is needed, but you don’t have a way to adjust the image settings either.
Video
I tested this in a typical well lit home office with a window. WIth the lights on, the video is grainy and overly white. The edges look like they’re overly sharpened. If the light was in the shot, there’s a pink halo around it. WIth the lights off, not even enough to be considered low light, the image is dark looking like a night cam. I tried it with Windows Camera, Discord, and OBS, all had similar results. By comparison, my old 6 year old webcam and laptop camera provided more true to life color. .
The auto focus is also bad. It will not focus on anything too close to the lens. You can tell that it’s trying to focus, but it’s slow and barely makes a difference.
Mic
The mic is terrible. I’m about 2 ft away from the camera and it can barely pick up my voice. It’s so low that it sounds muffled like I’m very far away. I have to get right in front of the camera for it to pick up, and it’s still below average level. If you’re using this for a call, you’ll need a dedicated mic. I tested this on 2 different pc’s and against other cameras just to make sure.
I don’t recommend this camera. The price to quality is not worth it, even when webcams are in short supply right now. For the price, I would either wait till I can get the better brands or just buy a cheaper alternative.

Good sound and battery. Bad noise cancelling.
on October 6, 2020
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Sounds good
-Charging case has wireless and USB charging
-App lets you customize functions and EQ
-Battery life
-Can be used individually
-Auto pause sensors
Con:
-A bit bulky and loose fitting
-Noise Cancelling made no difference
-Be Aware mode has a loud hiss
-No button to turn it off. Must have case or turn off Bluetooth
-Sensors resets when reconnecting
TLDR
These have good sounds, and good battery life but not as long as they claimed. The fit is a bit loose and it feels bulky around my ears, but they stayed on while active. The noise canceling does nothing. If you need a pair that have the ear hooks then these are a good choice, otherwise go with the Epic Air ANC version.
Sound
The sound is quite good. By default is balanced and has a little bit of bass. It can be further adjusted to your liking by adjusting the EQ with the app. At about 80% volume the sound clarity starts to suffer. WIth the right size tip, a lot of the surrounding noises are blocked, which helps with the otherwise non-existent noise cancelling.
Noise Cancelling/”Be Aware”
The noise cancelling, unfortunately, does nothing. Really the only form of noise blocking comes from the tight seal from the silicone tips.
Be Aware mode increases the level of outside noise that can be heard. It works, but it also has a hiss that can be loud and annoying. At times it’s louder than the outside noise.
Fit/Comfort
Even with the plastic ear hooks, these seem loose. The hooks are too big for me so only the back part touches my ears. They don’t fall out but they don’t feel snug either. And since they’re big, they feel bulky especially when wearing glasses.
Function
Each earbud has a touch button that can be customized, but sometimes it will either be accidentally activated or not registered. Each side can be used individually, which is nice. These have auto sensors that will play/pause whenever one earbud is away from the ear, which can be disabled in the app. The most annoying thing for me was that there’s no way to turn them off unless you either put them back in the charging case, or turn off bluetooth on your phone and wait a few minutes. I don’t always have the case with me and it’s annoying to have to disable my bluetooth each time I want to turn them off.
Charge and Battery Life
The charging case is a bit big, but it has a short USB tucked in, and can also be charged wirelessly. The battery life is good. It claims 15+ hours per charge, but I got about 7-8 hours straight with ANC on and off with max volume. The case can provide another 3 charges, which should give you at least another 25 hours, even though they claim 50+ hours.
App
The app lets you adjust the noise cancelation and Be Aware amount. It also allows adjustment of up to four EQ settings. Touch functions can be reassigned to fit your needs. The auto sensors can be turned off as well, but there’s an issue that it resets every time the app is closed or the earbuds are disconnected. I have to restart the app and toggle the sensor on and off to make it work.

Great sound, limited functions.
on October 4, 2020
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Sound quality
-Comfortable
-In ear detection
Con:
-Battery life
-No volume control
-No EQ settings
-Can’t turn off without putting them back in the case
TL;DR
Overall, these offer great sounds and are comfortable, but not perfect. The limited touch functions and inability to power down without the case were my biggest gripes. The battery life could be better, but 4-5 hours is still within the norm.
Sound
As expected from Bose, these sound really good. The balance, sound stage, vocals, they all sounded clear. Playing music, I can hear more details and variations in the sounds. Bass, while not overly punchy, has enough emphasis to enhance the music. Having used various earbuds recently, the sound quality differences were obvious from the start.
Comfort
These are very comfortable and light. It includes three sizes for the ear wing. I chose the smallest and even with that, they stayed in my ear while I’m out walking about. I don’t feel anything pressing against my ear nor do they feel like they would fall out. The silicone ear tips are all the same sizes, so they didn’t create as good of a seal for me.
Functionality
Out of the box, setting up was easy. You need to download their app to pair them, which was easy to do. Once done, they reconnect as soon as you open the case. These have touch buttons, and unfortunately this is where the negatives come in. They work fine, but their functions are very limited. The right side can only control playback and answer calls. The left can only do two things, hold to activate your voice assistant and you can set the double tap to either skip forward or check battery level. That’s it. There’s no way to control volume other than to adjust them on your device. There’s also no way to turn these off without putting them back into the charging case. You can disconnect them in the app, but if you leave them out, it just stays in standby mode, which still drains your battery, and any slight movement will reconnect them to your phone. I disconnected them and left them on my desk only to find out that they reconnected and the battery died. This makes it so that you need to have the case with you all the time, which can be annoying since the case is a bit large. These also have in ear detection that pause playback when you take them out of your ear. You can toggle this on/off in the app, but didn’t affect the mentioned reconnection issue.
The app is also limited. From the main page, it lets you connect and disconnect, control your music, and displays your battery level. In the settings you can turn on/off the in ear detection, choose one of two commands for what the left side touch function does, and enable voice prompt. You can’t customize sound settings or anything else. The voice assistant is also locked to your phone's native one, so no choosing between Siri or Google.
Battery Life
Each charge, realistically, would give you about 4 hours. After an hour, the battery level of the left is at about 80% and the right was at 75%. The case will give you an extra 2 charges. The case does have a 15 minute quick charge, which can give you about an hour worth of battery.

Good sound. Long battery. Bad noise cancelling
on September 26, 2020

Pro:
-Sounds good
-Charging case has wireless and USB charging
-App lets you customize functions and EQ
-Battery life
-Can be used individually
-Auto pause sensors
Con:
-Noise Cancelling made no difference
-Be Aware mode has a loud hiss
-No button to turn it off. Must have case or turn off Bluetooth
-Sensors keeps pausing music from head movement
Sound
The sound is quite good. By default is balanced and has a good amount of bass. It can be further adjusted to your liking by adjusting the EQ with the app. At max volume, which can get loud, the sound clarity suffers a bit. WIth the right size tip, a lot of the surrounding noises are blocked, which helps with the otherwise non-existent noise cancelling.
Noise Cancelling/”Be Aware”
The noise cancelling, unfortunately, practically does nothing. Even the lowest humming sounds are not blocked. Really the only form of noise blocking comes from the tight seal from the silicone tips.
Be Aware mode increases the level of outside noise that can be heard. It does work so I can hear background noise better but it also has a hiss. The hiss can be loud enough that it pretty much negates the enhanced hearing.
Function
Each earbud has a touch button that can be customized, and most of the time it works fine but sometimes it will either be accidentally activated or not register a touch. Each side can be used individually, which is something most earbuds can’t do. These have auto sensors that will play/pause whenever one earbud is away from the ear. For me, it kept pausing whenever I tilt my head too far, so I ended up just turning them off in the app. However, the most annoying thing for me was that there’s no way to turn them off unless you either put them back in the charging case, or turn off bluetooth on your phone and wait a few minutes. I don’t always have the case with me and it’s annoying to have to disable my bluetooth each time I want to turn them off. I don’t know why there’s no way to set it so I can just press and hold the button for a few seconds to turn it off.
Charge and Battery Life
The Epic Air comes with a charging case that not only has a short USB tucked in, but can also be charged wirelessly. The case is a bit bulky but considering the versatile charging, it’s acceptable. The USB wire is a bit short at only a few inches so you’ll likely be using a laptop or battery pack with it.
The battery life is really good. It boasts 12+ hours per charge, and I was able to get about 8-9 hours with noise cancelling on. The case can provide another 3 charges giving a total of 72 hours.
App
The app lets you adjust the noise cancelation and Be Aware amount. It also allows adjustment of up to three EQ settings. The best part is that you can customize the touch functions, since I didn’t like the default ones. I also was able to turn off the auto sensors since it kept pausing randomly as I moved.
There’s an issue with the auto sensor resetting every time the app is closed or the earbuds are disconnected. I have to restart the app and toggle the sensor on and off to make it work.
Worth it?
Overall for the price and features you get makes these worth it. The battery life alone is better than most but the charging case puts them above many others. The sound is good and can be further adjusted more to your liking. Too bad the noise cancelling does pretty much nothing and there’s some quirk with the buttons and the app. If noise cancelling is what you need, these are not it.

Quiet and works well

Pro:
-Quiet
-Variable speed
This is perfect for making paste, dips, and whipped food. It’s easy to handle, quiet, and blended with an even consistency. Unlike my other blenders, this doesn’t leave a layer of unblended mix at the bottom. It has a variable button, which feels like 3 different speeds. You can buy more attachments, but an included whisk attachment would have been nice. Still another nice addition to my kitchen.

Balanced sounds. Quiet mic.
on September 8, 2020
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Overall good balance audio
-Simple set up
-Works with PC and Switch (in docked mode)
Con:
-Cups are small and material feels rough
-Mic is ok
-Lacks real encompassing sound and bass
Comfort
The set is light, but the foam on the band is a bit hard. I find the cups not as comfortable as other headsets I’ve had. The ear shaped cups are somewhat small which causes the edge of my ears to touch the inside. Also because of the ear shaped cups, I couldn’t really rotate the band around my head that much as I tend to push it a little bit to the back. The foam on the cup is stiffer and the fabric feels a bit rough. At first, it annoyed me, but I started to get used to it after a few hours. The cups didn’t get hot despite being smaller, so that’s a positive.
Sound
The overall sound is fine. It’s good and balanced but it doesn’t really sound as encompassing. It sounds like the speaker is a bit far from the ears. It also doesn’t really emphasize the bass that much, even with the bass boost. The audio is not bad at all, just a bit distant. The superhuman hearing mode really emphasizes the subtler sounds like footsteps, but dim the other sounds a bit.
The mic is fine for party chat, but it’s not that clear. The mic doesn’t bend or extend that far but it picks up alright, however it sounds like it’s too far and I did have to turn up the level. The mic is even more quiet when using it with the PC.
Setup and functionality
Simplest headset to set up on the PS4 and PC. Just plug in the USB and adjust the sound level. The volume, mic level, sound mode, and power button are easily discern by touch. The power button also doubles as a toggle for superhuman hearing mode.
These are relatively light, but I find the cups to be too small and not that soft. I think these are okay as an all rounder wireless headset. The sounds are good and balanced, but it’s light on bass to really give big sounds the boom that it needs. The mic is fair for party chat but it’s a little quiet. Unlike some other headsets that need a usb connection and an audio out, these are simple to set up and wireless is good. I didn’t notice any latency and so far haven’t had any issues. It’s a good choice for the price if you don’t mind the size of the cups.

Solid experience. Trueforce makes a difference.
on August 29, 2020
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Solid build and good driving feel
-Force feedback feels good especially for supported games
-Easy to place on desk
-Pedals feels sturdy
Con:
-Trueforce supported games are few
-Brake pedal is really tight
-Pedals are at a steep angle for me
-Base can slide on hard floor
This is my first racing wheel and I had a good time playing with it. I tried it with a few racing games as well as simulators. As of this writing, there are only four games that support Truforce, so the only game I tested it on was Grid on PS4 and I could feel more varied feedback from the engine and steering. I can feel the steering wheel fighting me and when the tires are slipping. I also tried it on my PC with F1 2018 and American Truck Simulator, and while the rumbling was there, it felt more linear and constant like rumbling from a controller. The rumbling can get quite strong and would shake my desk and monitors.
The steering was smooth in game and the pedals were responsive. However, for me, the pedals were angled a bit too high so I can’t rest my feet on the base comfortably to do heel toe acceleration. On carpet the pedal base stays in place if you flip the grip down underneath, but on smooth flooring it will slide.
The overall build quality is solid. It’s light enough to easily put it on and off my desk, but the clamps under the wheel feels plasticy and too lightweight. Hopefully they last. The buttons work with both PC and PS4 without any hassle. On PC, the buttons can be customized with the G Hub software along with the wheel and pedal sensitivity. Thought it would have been cool to be able to assign keys to the pedals too. The steel pedals are strong and feel premium. No loose movement or jiggling at all.
I’m not a racing gamer nor a car guy, but so far having the wheel made it much more fun. I have been enjoying playing sim games with the G923. The build is good and it performs without any issues. The Trueforce feedback really makes a difference, but more games need to support it. They said this will work on PS5 so I’m sure future games will support it. I think it’s a good entry if you really like immersive racing.

HP's take on MacBook Air, and it's good!
By BeingHonest
With an attractive design and lightweight portability, this laptop is a (big) tablet size package with full size laptop performance. The laptop is incredibly thin at a mere 10.4 mm and weighting at 2.45 lbs.
Build:
The exterior is a matte finish trimmed with gloss gold, which is reflected with the keyboard. This finish is nice since it doesn't leave fingerprints but the shinny gold is prone to marks. While personally I'm not a fan of the dark gray and gold, it does have a premium look to it. On the back is the headphone jack, 2 usb type C, and a power port, along with the exhaust along the bottom.
Display:
The Spectre comes with a 13 inch IPS 1080p display, and while not on par with a retina display, is clear and sharp. You really don't need a higher resolution for this size. The display setting is default to a custom setting in windows, which I find to be about right. The screen is glossy, which can be annoying. The viewing angle is great! I was surprised that this was an IPS panel.
Keyboard and trackpad:
The keyboard is a typical chicklet type key and is responsive and easy to type with. It is backlit and with the gold trimmed keys, gives a nice glowing effect. The glass trackpad is nice and smooth and functions like a button with gesture controls (which I mostly disabled). It's essentially an Apple trackpad.
Speakers:
The speakers sandwich the entire keyboard, and while HP boast that it's custom tuned by Bang & Olufsen, it performs like what you would expect from tiny speakers on a tablet. Not so good, but considering its size, is adequate for watching videos. With music, it tends to crack at higher volumes and the bass is lacking. Still, the speakers can produce good volume and the individual channels stands out.
Performance:
With an i7 and 8 gb of ram, this laptop can handle any day to day task without a hitch. Just don't expect to do any modern gaming with this. Thanks to its PCIe SSD, this thing is fast. It boots up faster than my gaming desktop. But with only 256gb of storage, you might need an external drive. I'm used to gaming laptop so to me the battery life is very good. I can get at least 5 hours of use without optimizing the brightness and performance. It takes a few hours to fully charge and you should be good to go for a while. There doesn't seem to be a way to replace the ssd or battery so I'm hoping they last. I have one major issue with the performance, and is that it can get hot, not warm, but hot. Installing windows update, this laptop got too hot to be in my lap. Doing multitasking can get quite warm as well.
Overall this laptop performs to my expectations. It's thin and light and can handle everyday tasks smoothly. There's not much HP bloatware, which I find refreshing. It comes with a usb C adapter and a slip cover, but in my case is a tad too small and tight. Even with some of its shortcomings, I can't fault it too much given how much was packed into such a small form factor.
This laptop was provided to me for my honest review.

Thanks for update

Thanks for letting me know about the ssd and battery. I didn't see any way to remove the cover, but good to know it's doable. And yes I no longer put it on my lap (laptop-the irony) due to the heat issue. The ventilation is one of the issue I have with this thing, but it's still a good machine.

Does this have a 850 w power supply? Which brand/ model video card is used for this rtx 2070?

Not sure about the power supply (not visible without taking it out), but with Dell you won't be getting any brand name parts. Just generic grade. The 2070 is a blower style.

Listen to your playlist in peace with these Sony headphones. They have a 40mm dome driver to deliver the full depth of audio, and the noise cancelling feature minimizes outside disturbances for a better listening experience. These Sony headphones have a battery life of up to 30 hours for extended jam sessions.

Really wanna buy these headphones, but does the ANC from these (Sony) create an undesirable pressure to the eardrums? Tried the Bose, they hurt my ears after a while...

I think your case is unique. I haven't heard about noise cancelling causing pain. I have both the Sony and Bose and all I can say is that they are similar, but with the Sony you can adjust the level of NC so that it has less effect in their App. By default, the Sony has a bit of a hiss. It's worth a shot.

I am moving to Australia & hear different information about the power adapters. Do I need a converter to charge this HP laptop internationally? I have the adapter & a converter. Just want to be on the safe side. Thank you!

On the power brick, it says that it takes 100-240v so it should be fine internationally.

Which available adapter is recommended for using with: HDMI screen Ethernet RJ45 network 2 regular USB ports (for wireless keyboard/ printer/ disk on key, not usb-c) Charging ?

There's no HDMI or ethernet out. It only comes with 2 usb-c so you'll just need an adapter to connect to non usb-c devices.

Online, the estimated battery life is 9.5 hours. How accurate is this estimate?

Real world applications would probably get about half of that. I get about 4-5 hours of moderate use.

What users is this directed towards?

Mainly target for everyday users or office workers that needs portability and good performance. For instance if you're looking to get a macbook air or surface pro (only without touch screen).

Stay cool with this Honeywell Turbo Force HT-906 table fan that features 120° extra-wide horizontal oscillation to help keep a large area comfortable. The pivoting head can be adjusted up to 60° for flexible positioning.

How quiet or loud is this fan?

Tired of noisy fans; how is this one for noise? Thanks.
It's a bit quieter but really no quieter than any oscillating fan I've had. This is just smaller and has decent air flow.
