I'd ordered this directly from Garmin, and was happy to see it when it arrived. The mount is much improved. First of all, its much smaller than the suction cup mount you're used to, plus it's adhesive, so it won't be falling off if installed properly (they recommend letting the adhesive bind 24 hours before you place the camera).
Day and night video are superb quality. Like its predecessors, it will automatically protect the video file if an impact is detected, and a manual file protection is also available if there's something you want to save but doesn't activate the G-sensor.
The forward-collision warning is a fantastic addition, especially for someone I know who has a habit of following too closely.
For the above: 5 stars.... However...
Who decided there shouldn't be audio recording? Say you are making a turn, put your turn signal on, slow down, and get hit from behind. With no audio, it's still your word (that the blinker was on) against the other driver (who will say it wasn't). Audio recording should pick up the click from the turn signal. Was your kid distracted: singing along with her latest favorite song? Talking on the cell phone? Who knows? After a wreck, did the other driver run up and apologize and make a statement like "Sorry, it was all my fault... I should have... "? Disrespectful to the officer who pulled him over, jeopardizing his safety? No way to prove he was or wasn't.
Garmin says the microphone was not included on the US version, but is available on the European version. Why, oh why?
