Not worth $400. Returned to store.

Ok, I bought a 65" Samsung 8500 SUHD tv last November and love it. Especially watching blu-rays since regular tv doesn't benefit from the 4k yet. I also bought a Samsung 6500 up-scaling Blu-ray player for about $100 and it really brought new life to my blu-ray collection. I've been researching this 8500 4k player for a while now and have been drooling over getting one since it was released in March but I hadn't pulled the trigger until last week when I decided to buy it and 3 movies in 4K including The Martian, Mad Max Fury Road and San Andreas. I spent a little time last night making sure I had the best connections using my ONKYO receiver. I did like the feature this player has with a split HDMI output. One for video and one for audio so I was able to send the video directly to my tv and take advantage of the BD WISE feature that I couldn't use before. It really set all of the settings to make a great picture BUT it wasn't any better then my $100 upscaling player.
I tried very very hard to make it better to justify keeping it and my 3 movies but after watching The Martian and comparing the 4K to the up-scaled Blu-ray I could not tell any difference at all and trust me, I tried. In fact some scenes were not as clear on this player compared to the up-scaling one. One scene at the beginning when the storm is coming over the mountain it was juttery. And several times the person seemed to have what we called back in the day as snow (dots) on them.
So, sadly, I have packed this one back up and planned to return it tomorrow to Best-buy. I'm very disappointed. Yesterday when this arrived I was like a kid at Christmas. I purchased the 3 movies from Amazon and they gratefully made an exception for me to return the movies, including The Martian that I had already opened. So as far as would I recommend this player to a friend? ONLY if they didn't own an up-scaling player already and just had $400 to blow. but honestly, the $100 4K up-scaling player looks just as good to me as this one and the remote control is much nicer too so I'd buy it and let the prices drop on the 4K players and DVDs. Plus, let them work out any kinks with the players. I knew better then to buy a first edition.

I ordered this set when it was on sale one day because I just purchased a stainless steel Weber grill and thought this would be the perfect companion for it. I love it! Great heavy duty set of utensils. They only thing that would make it better would be for it to have a nice case to put it in to keep organized.

Nice system, difficult phone app setup

Well, I have only installed 2 of my 8 cameras so far because I spent hours trying to get my iPhone to connect. I called support the first time and was basically told to deal with it myself but I called back today and got a very nice lady named AJ whom I gave control of my computer to by way of the internet and she configured my router and settings and had me up and watching my cameras on my iPhone and iPad fairly quickly. THANK YOU AJ! Now this weekend I can have fun installing the other 6 cameras. Having your iPhone to view the camera when on the roof installing them helps out tremendously as far as directing it in the right direction.
What's great about it: All metal cameras, decent picture, better than expected night vision
What's not so great: Setting up to view from my iPhone was a headache! Call support & give them control of your computer. Narrow viewing.
I would recommend this to a friend!

One of the best movies ever!

This is one of my all time favorite movies and I will be buying it on Blu-Ray when it comes out! The kid playing the main character is one of the best actors I have ever seen in my life. Great movie! Get it! You won't regret it.
What's great about it: Everything about this movie is awesome!
What's not so great: nothing bad I can think of
I would recommend this to a friend!

When I first head about this movie, I was very interested in seeing how they would introduce the new characters and mix them with the old ones. As you many of you know, X-Men Days of Future Past embraces the first class and the current ones, even those who remain in the future.
The movie was spectacular, 3D was incredible, the direction was great, the movie had your attention the whole time. I really enjoyed it.
As being one of those who have read the comics, I can say that I was very satisfied with the adaptation. They sort of adapted the sentinels to be more realistic for a movie, and they did a hell of a job with it.
This Exclusive is awesome but I would have loved it even more if it wasn't too big! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the front cover since it's the best I have seen for this movie.
I love the extras and the classified files but being honest, I haven't found the time to take a look at them correctly.
I'm just happy that Best Buy decided to release this for $22.99. Great price for an incredible set!

We were told the rim around screen was silver and shown a picture of silver rim when received it's not silver. Disappointed with that would have looked for another TV

I'm sorry but are you saying you wouldn't have purchased this tv if you had known it wasn't a silver frame? lol My understanding is it is a darker grey frame so it doesn't show up as much which I would prefer personally. But when buying a tv like this, I look more at what's in the tv, not around it. A 2 star review is a bit ridiculous on a $3,000 tv because you didn't like the color of the frame. Just my opinion of course.

My first Samsung TV. In the store it looked perfect. At home it was perfect except for the glare. TV was in an average family with average lighting. The curve really magnified the glare and make it hard to view night scenes. If it waxen for the glare, this TV Is Awesome.

does the Samsung UBD-K8500 enhance the picture of a regular blue ray movie or does it have to be a ultra 4k disc ?
It up-scales regular blu-ray to near 4K.

Do not buy this product due to no support of dolby altos?
You are wrong. It will support all forms of audio including Dolby Atmos.

If you have an up-scaling player I don't recommend buying this one. I'm returning mine because I couldn't tell any difference.

Is this a TRUE 4k dvd player, not an upscale model?
Yes it plays the real 4K discs but I couldn't tell any difference between a 4K disc on this player and a regular blu-ray upscaled.

Yes it will play all older versions of DVDs.
