Great performance/value!

Have been using this TV now for about 3 weeks. IMO, this TV has an excellent picture right out of the box for HDMI connected Blu Rays and Comcast HD On-Demand programming. The picture is also outstanding with my grandson's HDMI connected XBox 1. As expected with HD cable, some channels are great and others not as good. I also downloaded the Smart Cast app to my smart phone to help set up the TV for casting. A little bit confusing and awkward but it worked. Since then though, we have used a tablet (without the SmartCast app) to WIFI cast directly from YouTube and it works perfectly. We haven't needed the SmartCast App since the first day. The supplied remote is VERY basic with only about 10 buttons. We really only use the supplied remote to power the TV on and select an input. Our cable box remote or Blu Ray remote handles the rest including volume. This TV has an excellent picture and the sound is satisfactory considering the size of the built in speakers. A great price for a great TV.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent Price/Performance

I have a slightly smaller model of this 2016 Vizio TV and IMO it is an excellent TV. Especially when considering the price. The picture is excellent right out of the box. The sound is OK with plenty of volume considering the size of the speakers. The initial setup is a little awkward using a smartphone and the SmartCast app, but it does work. We have not needed the SmartCast app after we finished setting it up. My wife frequently "cast" (WIFI) YouTube videos from her tablet without any problems. The SmartCast app is not needed for "casting" WIFI. The supplied remote is very basic (channel, volume, input, etc.) but we mainly use the remotes for our HDMI connected cable box or Blu Ray player. I plan to buy another of the Vizio E series TVs for another room!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Picture is no good

The picture is not clear and the remote is terrible. You need a smartphone to control the TV.

We don't use a smartphone with this TV.

A smartphone or tablet with the SmartCast app is only really needed if you want to tweak picture settings. I downloaded the app to my smartphone but have never used it yet. We use the supplied basic remote to turn the TV on, select an input, and sometimes control volume. The remotes we use the most are the remotes for our cable box or Blu Ray player. We also occasionally cast WIFI from a tablet (without the SmartCast app).
In our opinion, the picture on this TV is great out of the box. See CNET reviews of Vizio TVs for the last year or two.
