Excellent Dryer

We replaced our top load washer with a front load washer against all of our friends advice. We had 2 top load HE washers that were supposed to be top of the line models over the past 8 years and nothing but problems with each. First it was the Whirlpool Cabrio washer dryer pair, which mind you the dryer lasted for 8 years, and within the first year we had the washer worked on twice. The mother board went out and was replaced as well as the stater just before the extended warranty expired. When the machine would no longer spin the clothes out after the warranty expired we went with an LG top load. Again, problems immediately... We posted the question of front load or top load to social media and watched the front load bash fest begin. To our surprise only 2 people said they loved their front load washer. All of the complaints were smell. After researching what caused the smell and a solution in front load washers we researched the best front load washers on the market and bought the Maytag Fresh Hold MHW5500FW0 from Lowes. We bought there because the return policy was 30 days compared to Best Buy's 14 day. 3 weeks in we loved the washer and decided on the matching dryer, MGD5500FW0. Our old dryer took too long to dry and would leave clothes wet a lot of the time. Our new gas dryer is so quick and efficient in getting the clothes dry. I'd have to credit a portion of this statement to the washer because of how well it spins out the clothes. Yes, it used very little water to wash a load of clothes but it does get them very clean! Our old one used so much water and continued to reset back to rinse cycle over and over until we stopped it and set it to spin only. Also, all of our old set in smelly towels are fresh and clean again. We just wash them with baking soda every so often and let the washer do the rest. The gas dryer has a load of towels completely dry in less than an hour where our old dryer would run for almost 2. Key to keeping the front load washer from developing a smell is don't wash if you can't swap over the clothes in a reasonable amount of time, wipe down the gasket with a paper towel and leave the door open to let the moisture evaporate. And, use the Affresh cleaner once a month to get rid of the soap buildup. We love our washer and dryer pair and would recommend to anyone. By the way, the washer finishes a large load of clothes in about half the time as our old washer did.
