Good all around gaming mouse!!!
on August 8, 2023
Posted by: btb2k
It's been a while since I've tried a new gaming mouse and this one does not disappoint. First, for the look and feel, this mouse is great, it feels high quality and has the right weight for my taste. Movement seems super responsive and accurate and this mouse offers lots of customization in terms of lighting and buttons/macros. I do like how Razer designed the wireless charging on this mouse but am disappointed they didn't just include it with the mouse and instead offer it as a different bundle which may appeal to other preferences but from a customer experience perspective it would be simpler and overall better if it just came ready to go wireless straight out of the box!
In terms of Software, I do like Razer Synapse and the number of games that it supports, but do wish there were more integration with other 3rd party hardware for RGB lighting. For the most part the only way to get your setup all integrated is to go with all Razer devices and still miss out on some like motherboard lighting and ram lighting or go with a 3rd party software solution to integrate all the RGB in your setup.
As for the mouse itself, I'm very impressed with the connectivity options afforded to you. I love having the option to use the high speed dongle or Bluetooth if I want to grab it to go with my laptop. As with nearly all Razer products, the RGB lighting is really good, with saturated color and easy customization with the software.
Overall, I'd recommend this mouse, but would recommend getting the wireless charger for it to keep life simple and never have a chance of it going dead in the middle of a game or work.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great small business/home office printer!
on August 8, 2023
Posted by: btb2k
Setting up this laser printer for a small office or small home office that needs black and white printing is a breeze. It has the option to connect with a USB port or gigabit ethernet port for multi-user network access. The features are simple, no fluff but very functional and most important - easy to use.
In terms of print quality, text is crisp, and appears sharp. Pictures look good but are grayscale black/white of course. In terms of high-volume document printing this printer definitely works for printing contracts, legal documents, sales orders/receipts, checks, and much more. It prints very fast for nearly instant on and print speeds. In my testing it does seem to output nearly 30-40 pages per minute easily and has a large capacity paper output bin that can hold all of the paper from the standard bin. There's a visible physical indicator on the printer for paper levels so you can see at a glance what the paper level is and the printer has a display for job status and toner levels and configuration.
You can add an additional paper tray (purchased separately) to greatly expand the paper holding capacity and give you the option to put checks/forms in one tray and plain paper in another.
I highly recommend connecting this printer with the ethernet port directly to your home or work network for the best printing experience. At first, I was wondering why no WiFI but then remembered another WiFi printer I have that seems to always be disconnected when I try to print from the app and this printer does not seem to have that issue in the testing I've done over the last few days. Very impressed!
For those situations that require it, this printer does have print security settings so you can protect your document printing which also happens to block the use of 3rd party cartridges. That said, HP offers the Instant Ink service for toner for this printer, which after setting it up I can say is a great trade-off and offers the peace of mind that you're using genuine cartridges that won't harm your printer or potentially compromise security, which, yes is really a thing and I recommend research on this if you print things that you want protected.
While this review isn't about Instant Ink or the cost of toner, I do use this service in my inkjet photo printers and even with high volume, I would say it offers a really good value for what you get, and you NEVER have to worry about ordering toner ever again or worry about getting some random cartridge that may not work and I've lost more than one printer trying to cheap out with 3rd party cartridges so it's well worth just getting the right thing.
I do think HP should offer or allow 3rd party certification/sale of remanufactured cartridges and offer an incentive to customers who recycle as opposed to greenwashing marketing on the toner box to say "Designed with health and planet in mind" when locking down cartridges does nothing to help the planet and actually causes more waste. Using Instant Ink of course does help with this but HP should offer more options to entice people to trade in cartridges for a discount.
That all said, this is a good all around printer, especially if you're open to the instant ink service and want peace of mind set it and forget it for printing.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent compact, lightweight, portable scanner!
on July 23, 2023
Posted by: btb2k
This scanner is the perfect companion to have stored next to your printer or sitting on your desk at home as it powers off the USB port it plugs in to making it simple to use with any desktop or laptop computer.
Pros:
- Lightweight, has a small footprint when you use the kickstand
-Powered by USB
-Includes OCR software that works and simplifies scanning docs in to Word, Excel, etc. so you can edit them.. the best part is documents that you scan with OCR to PDF makes the PDF searchable. (This was extremely useful for scanning legal docs and CC&R's that I didn't have a soft copy of and want to be able to search.)
-Easily scan photos or documents in seconds and save them in the format of your choosing/need
Scan to cloud feature that makes sharing scanned documents easy
-Resolution and speed is impressive for scanning photos in high resolution
-The lid is removable for scanning larger items like books or multipage documents that you don't want to or cannot easily separate
Cons:
None so far, this scanner actually has exceeded my expectations in terms of being small, easy to use and surprisingly useful
I'd absolutely recommend this scanner, it really is the perfect scanner to have in your home office or PC/Mac desktop or laptop setup and so far in terms of everything I've tried to scan the image quality is great, speed is great and the software is easy to use.

Great remote that needs no batteries!
on July 23, 2023
Posted by: btb2k
In terms of remotes, this is a great replacement, especially if you're looking to replace one that's lost or are just simply looking to eliminate some clutter in the living room by replacing all remotes with one.
For me, this remote hits the key things I like in getting a universal remote as most remotes included with some TV's that are universal tend to miss.
- The first is backlit keys that are large, spaced apart/not too close, and easy to read with a logical layout that seems to work well with all devices I've tried it on so far.
- The second is that this remote doesn't require any batteries and is rechargeable via a small USB-C cable (included) so it can charge off any USB port of which there are several on the sofas in my living room so charging is easy and convenient. I do like that it's USB-C too just in case I lose the cable as nearly everything I have uses USB-C now.
-The third is that it's easy to pair and it's easy to operate several devices with just this one remote. There are several different methods but for my TV, Roku and Soundbar, auto learn found each one's code with ease.
The best part of this remote is it's not "too simple" or "too complex" with so many buttons that it's difficult to use so I'd definitely recommend it.
The only thing I wish they would have done is include a QR code on the back of the remote that you can scan with your phone that has a link that takes you straight to a page online with the programming instructions and codes in the event you need to program it down the road. It's a sure bet I'll lose the folded up instructions in the box which will probably get tossed anyway because they are too hard to read and impossible to store easily.
Outside of that, I'd recommend this remote, it does the job well and is easy to use.

Good but falls short of being premium high tech
on July 6, 2023
Posted by: btb2k
This radar detector 2-in-1 is okay but falls short in several areas and way short of being what I would consider a very premium literally top end "Smart Driving" device.
What's good:
Video quality is ok
Radar detection works great / lots of customizability in terms of bands and smart filtering
Offers smart features to eliminate false alarms (which does work!)
Easy to use controls
Easy mounting
Includes case
Accident detection/emergency recording
Night vision is good
Built-in GPS
USB port on cord for charging your phone (or maintaining it with all the GPS/data use)
Able to connect to in-vehicle wifi hotspot (if you have it)
What's not so good:
Super short power cord / buttons on power cord
No fast charge on the USB charge port
App is almost a waste of time and is a HUGE drain your phones battery!
No extra features like direction, temp, etc. which would be nice
No 4K 60FPS video option
16GB micro sd is all that's included
I really had high hopes for this unit to have a lot more features than it did, and once I started using the app, I became more disappointed. The app is basic and essentially allows you to download/share videos that were recorded and of course lets you see/share other drivers who report incidents. What puzzles me here, is why not integrate with Google Maps or Waze where more people use it and it has other features that actually promote "smart driving", i.e. smart route planning with real time navigation (like if an accident is detected, it not only lets you know but updates your route to save time and make your trip safer). I use Android Auto in some of my vehicles and this would just have to run in the background making the app pointless. In addition, those apps are almost as effective as a radar detector in terms of identifying speed traps, and in many ways make it safer so I'm not sure why the company who makes these devices doesn't figure out a way to partner with Waze to compliment those software products that are successful even better complimented together. I downloaded the other Escort app only to be frustrated by the fact that they offer a service called Live that does some of this but not on the scale that Waze and Google does and they charge a subscription for it. There's also a subscription for database updates of traffic cams and stoplight cams, which is AWESOME if you live in states that use those and it's legal to have a detector but for states that don't it's a waste of money. That said, on the false alarms, it does learn and filter them out if you drive by the same places that emit the same false alarms (most frequently on K bands from my experience).
For just a "Radar" detector, this unit really is as good as it gets but many police use instant on laser radar and by the time your detector sees it you're usually already tagged unless you happen to be near other cars, with a speed making the point of having one to try to get away with speeding irrelevant. For a long time didn't believe that they'd help and sure enough with this detector I drove right past a Sheriff here in town on the side of the road clearly patrolling (in fact he waved as I drove by because I waved at him) and this detector didn't make a single chirp LOL. Now the upside there is a Limited Ticket Guarantee so they say in certain conditions they'll pay the speeding ticket so in that sense it may be worth it but be sure you understand the fine print for claiming a ticket and note it won't help your insurance costs or tickets that don't meet their specific guarantee criteria! For safety, I can see it helping as more emergency vehicles/lights do transmit so your detector can notify you they are approaching or you are approaching them which is great. Escort units are no doubt the best when it comes to radar filtering and detection but there are other models that do this just as well from the Escort line like my older one and even to this day it works nearly as good as this one but lacks the ability to update databases for new lights and traffic cams.
The dash cam, it works really good and video quality is good and it is easy to download/share recorded video and does what it says which is a positive for sure and the only reason it got three stars. However, for the video, it's not very premium. Many cams these days have 4k 60fps which is way more helpful for fast moving events (like a moving car) and this cam only has quad HD res and what seems like a standard framerate. In all honesty I've been tempted to ditch my dash cams altogether and just use a gopro, it's better video, stabilized and you can see plate numbers! This dash cam also doesn't work like other dash cams I've used that have features where video can be recorded when the vehicle is parked or an alarm is set off so while it is useful on the road it's worthless when the car is parked if your accessory port turns off with the car or at least I couldn't get it to record or allow me to access videos when the vehicle was off. There doesn't seem to be a way to add a rear/side view video camera either. On top of that, it only came with a 16GB card for video, which is small and disappointing for premium product.
The last part is the power cord.. talk about SHORT... if you don't have a 12V accessory plug literally in the dash and easy to get to you will almost certainly have to buy some sort of extension. In addition, I love that there are buttons on it so you can turn off the detector display at night and still see buttons to mute or mark things but this really is only safe/useful in trucks or vehicles that have a plug right on the dash but for vehicle that don't the buttons are useless. More and more newer vehicles have them but usually hidden in the dash in a compartment or in the console in which case this feature just became useless.
Overall, I would have a hard time recommending this product to someone just in general so would say no. I'd only recommend it if you want a SOLID radar detector and want the built in camera with limited features. There are other models that offer just as good of protection and you can use the difference to get a real dash cam with way more features but if you prefer the all in one, this is the only one out there that's of a high quality.
I have owned many radar detectors (including an older escort model that cost a third of this one) in the past and thought it'd bring back memories and it did, but largely it's the same device with a cam and apps that do make it function better than my old one but it has not been modernized to the extent I'd hope this unit might be. There may be tech under the hood that you can't see but just being an end-user cannot see the "premium" benefit when using Waze or a similar popular navigation app actually does help show you speed traps and accidents and saves you time on the road while making it safer for everyone and this just doesn't quite do the same thing so don't get it expecting that. Sure you can detect some speed traps and have some confidence that as a new owner your ticket might be covered with the guarantee but in general I feel like in terms of advanced smart driving tech, it has a long long way to go to hit that bar.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Perfect car charger with lots of power!
on June 12, 2023
Posted by: btb2k
Chargers are usually pretty straight forward and this one is no exception. Plugged it in the car, has a LED circle light to indicate that it has power and offers USB-A and two USB-C ports. I was able to use two ports at once but when you do keep in mind that it will only output up to 120W in total and each port has a marked output rating so if you're charging something like a laptop/tablet be sure to use the port with that power rating and keep in mind that if you charge something like a laptop that uses 100w you'll only be able to charge normal speeds on the other ports. That said, when plugging in my Samsung Fold 4, it immediately identified it as a Super Fast charger and started super fast charging. The included USB-C cable is a high quality cable that's long enough for use in the car. In terms of charging, the superfast charging is awesome as it dramatically cuts down the total time needed to charge and is perfect for topping your phone or tablet off when you're in the car. Even just 20 minutes is enough to top your phone up for an evening out after a day off the charger at work. I'd definitely recommend having one of these around, especially if you travel. It could save a lot of frustration waiting for your phone to charge.

Perfect desktop for photos, work and school!
on June 7, 2023
Posted by: btb2k
This desktop is the perfect balance of hardware for everyday use and based on use so far I'd recommend it for home/home office and school use. Setup out of the box is very easy, just connect the power, setup the keyboard/mouse and connect to a monitor. The Windows 11 Home OS makes it easy to set this machine up to get up and going within minutes. The setup walks you through it step by step to get connected and makes it easy to get going. If you've signed in to Windows using your Microsoft account you may get presented the option to use those same settings and sync them to the new computer or you can set it up as a new computer. You also get an option to tryout Microsoft Office on a trial but you can easily skip it if you have it already or don't need/want it. If you have an Android or iOS device, it also walks you through setting up your phone which is pretty cool because it lets you access things from your phone on your PC easily through the Phone Link app. On Android devices it lets you even use the apps and see your phones screen from the PC. It also lets you send/receive text messages and calls on Android as well if you have a headset hooked up that has a mic, pretty cool. So far, in the time I've been using it I've been able to setup and use it for email, web browsing and the office apps with easy. For web browsing, school work and business work this machine is perfect and is fast at loading up programs, spreadsheets and documents. It also seems to work well with photos so I'd say for someone who does photos this machine has enough processing power and memory to work with photos.
In terms of 3D graphics, I was also able to load Fusion 360 to pull up some designs, though keep in mind the integrated graphics do limit performance of programs like Fusion 360 and
more complex 3d objects may have trouble loading. Games that require discrete graphics may run with settings and resolution turned way way down or they may not run not at all. I tried a couple of card games and they worked just fine then loaded Diablo 3 and found that performance was not that great. I'd say a lot depends on what game so I'd say most simple games should work like those found on the Windows Store like the card games, but I would not get this machine for graphics intense 3D gaming as this PC was not designed for that and upgrading may be possible but may require very specific components from Dell.
I opened the tower up and you do have some limited ability to upgrade/add storage and you could swap out memory to increase to 16gb if your programs need it. It's possible that you could add graphics card but it would require an upgrade of the power supply which you would have to reach out to Dell for and ultimately would defeat the point of why you'd purchase this machine. The latest gen i5 processor this machine has is more than powerful enough for most applications and should be able to handle most workloads and multi-tasking.
I like that this PC has USB-C ports both in front and back with 10gbps/5gbps ports as you can easily add external high speed storage for fast access to photos and it has a SD card reader in the front. I also like that it has an optical drive so you can backup things using the drive or install from disc for any programs that you have only on disc.
In terms of aesthetics, the tower is small that it should fit on most desktop and not take up a lot of room and still look good while being accessible. The front panel has a nice color/finish to it that I don't mind on my desk next to or behind the monitor.
For overall useability and speed, I'd say this machine is perfect for everyday use and home office use. It's small, doesn't use a ton of power and is easy to use. Microsoft has made huge advances with Windows 11 making it easier to use, faster and more stable than ever so I'd recommend it.

Easy upgrade, stable and fast ram!
on May 31, 2023
Posted by: btb2k
This DDR5 ram is an easy upgrade for motherboards/CPU's that support DDR5. For a while I was on the fence as to whether it's worth the upgrade, and having done it I'd definitely say if you are looking for larger sticks, and fast ram that's stable this DDR5 is well worth it.
This ram so far seems to be stable even when overclocked with the XMP3.0 profile. In terms of performance, for video editing, and photo editing I'd say it's definitely worth upgrading. With these sticks I was able to take my system to (all DDR5) 64GB total ram and for the apps that need memory (like video/photo editing) and those that are ram hungry this is worthwhile. The differences you'll notice will vary based on what it is you're doing but you definitely can notice a difference on large UHD clips loaded in to Adobe where seeking is improved/faster. Also, for gaming, I'd say this ram can help you squeeze out a few additional FPS just by upgrading to DDR5, but that will largely depend on the game and how it uses memory. For the apps I use, this ram upgrade seems to be worth it and it does perform as good or faster (as noted) than the DDR4 ram. I'd recommend it and especially this pro ram as it is stable and fast.

A good laptop to try out Chrome OS with!
on April 25, 2023
Posted by: btb2k
The Acer Chromebook 314 is a good laptop to use for basic internet browsing and tasks with awesome battery life that is comparable to that of a tablet with all of the same things you'd expect in a tablet in terms of apps from the Google Play Store. It is super light and seems durable enough to survive being tossed into a backpack and taken out and about. In fact, it does come with a nice case that has a zippered pocket for the charge cord or other accessories which is a nice bonus.
Performance wise, this laptop is somewhere in the bottom to middle where most tasks/apps are executed smoothly and quickly but it's clear when loading some apps and the browser that they sometimes take a second to load depending on what it is you're loading. Videos play smooth and overall it seems to work as it should once you get used to the occasional split second delay loading some things.
The display is bright and crisp and actually has a decent viewing angle and both text and video look good. The IPS Panel in this laptop is actually pretty good. The keyboard and touch pad are responsive and I find it easy to type on even for longer durations. I do wish that the keys were backlit and that it had a fingerprint sensor to unlock like your phone does. But if you have an Android phone, and have it nearby Google has a nifty feature that allows your Chromebook to be unlocked if you have unlocked your phone when it's nearby. That same feature allows your Chromebook to communicate with your phone so you can even use your phone's internet connection on the go (assuming your carrier supports that) which is pretty cool. The way Google integrates that feature makes it easy to use too where it's as easy as turning on the Wifi and telling it to use your phone's internet connection.
The one thing on this laptop that was truly a negative was the speakers without a doubt, they work but they sound terrible. They will work good for conference calls but don't expect any cinema type sound from these speakers, in fact you're probably better off to use headphones in either case. The webcam is decent and is great to have for conference calls/web meetings.
As a bonus, ChromeOS does let you load and launch many Android apps just like you'd be able to on a tablet which is a huge plus. Some other strengths this laptop brings to the table is the USB-C connectivity which it also uses for charging. There's also a microSD so you can easily add local storage for local access to photos and files.
I'd recommend this laptop for anyone who needs something that's simple, is instant on and ready to go for tasks like browsing the web or using apps from the play store. It'd be excellent for school and be a great to have just kicking around in the car or wherever you go for access wherever you are. I

An awesome machine that's very versatile!

I'm very impressed with this machine, and it's useful in more ways you never even imagined. So far, I've used it to wash my motorcycle, car and side by side and clean the concrete in my driveway and my motocross boots. Unlike other pressure washers I've tried this one delivers much more water so it takes much less time to actually clean something. It comes with an impressively long cord which wraps up neatly on the machine and it also has a long hose. The only thing I wish it had was a notch on the cord to connect the loose end of the cord so the end doesn't hang loose.
Unboxing and setting this machine up was super easy. Basically, you just attach the handle and plastic cord wrap pieces and then attach the hose/sprayer components and you're ready to go. You will need a screwdriver but other than that it's super easy to assemble! Surprisingly, this machine is not that heavy and the big wheels make it easy to move around and it's design lets you stand it up while it's storage, taking up much less space. The first thing I noticed, is the quality of the components and machine itself seems very solid.
It comes with different nozzles so you can have the appropriate spray for the job you're working on. Where this delivers such high pressure, it's very important to know that it can and will damage things that you put too close to the sprayer nozzle! This machine delivers very high pressure and warnings should be observed.
The soap tank is awesome!! It's big and works well to inject it into the wash, just like you were at the carwash except that you can use it anywhere around your home or shop to clean just about anything.
I'd absolutely recommend this machine for it's features and small storage footprint- especially where it holds all of it's attachments, cords, hoses and accessories eliminating clutter!
I would recommend this to a friend!

If I use these and they truly block out all sounds, does it come with an alarm built in the app? I don't wanna have my alarm clock set and not hear it due to me wearing these through the night

Yes, for me they blocked out sounds especially when playing the sound clips.. they do have a built-in alarm that you can set.

Find the best fishing spots with this PowerDolphin Wizard water drone. The included PowerSeeker gives you data on water conditions, and the BaitBox function lets you drop bait to attract fish. This PowerDolphin Wizard water drone has a 4K UHD camera that captures stunning footage and quickly switches between above and underwater modes.

How deep can this go underwater. The add says the “SONAR” can detect up to 230 ft but nothing is stated about how deep the drone itself can go.

This one is not really designed for going and staying underwater though it can be submerged.:. it’s mostly designed to work on the surface though can skip under the surface and drop the camera under the surface to see below the drone. PowerVision has another drone that is designed for complete underwater use though.

Ninja Foodi's TenderCrisp pressure cooker allows you to achieve all the quick cooking and tenderizing wonders that you love about pressure cookers. The Foodi's Crisping Lid allows you to air fry, bake/roast, and broil. That means you can give your tender, juicy pressure-cooked meals a golden, crispy finish. The secret is TenderCrisp Technology, which produces the perfect combination of heat, fan velocity, and air circulation to give your food even crisping from top to bottom.

Does this pressure cooker air crisper combo item use silicone rings ? I hear the Rings hold smells and are almost impossible to get stains out of them .

It is a silicone ring that seals it. The manual states that you must keep the ring clean by removing and cleaning the ring AND lid after each time you use it or that there may be a risk it holding smells. Both the ring and lid should not be washed in the dishwasher of course!! So far, I have not noticed any stains or smells after using it while pressure cooking with really intense seasonings like rosemary, celery, and onions/garlic, and I've thoroughly cleaned the seal and appliance every time after each use as the manual states. My recommendation is going to be follow what it says in the manual and you should be okay. In terms of stains, I wouldn't rule them out from being possible to happen in the right conditions though I can't imagine it affecting anything. My thoughts on that are that the only reason you wouldn't ever see it on other kinds of seals is because the seal itself is black or another color but in terms of stains on the one i have, I've seen none so far!

does this have 3d pass through

It supports HDMI 2.0, and allows 4k passthru. 3D is supported in HDMI standard 1.4 and above so I would say yes it does.

Air is the new oil, and now with the Philips Airfryer you can use that air to fry in a healthier way with up to 75% less fat! Thanks to Philips unique TurboStar™ technology, all food is exposed to constant, circulating heat allowing you to cook your favorite foods with a tablespoon or less of oil. The result is evenly fried food – with no turning or shaking needed. Preset meals on the digital Airfryer allow you to cook your favorite recipes at the touch of a button.

Does the Phillips AirFryer 9621/96 have a stainless steel basket?

It does not appear to be just plain stainless (i'm sure because food would stick to it as it fries in the Air Fryer). It appears to be a non-stick metal basket, and is NOT safe to wash in the dishwasher. It has to be hand washed but I've never had any difficultly with cleaning it.
