Best Docking Alarm Clock Available
on November 23, 2014
Posted by: DrDave
I was looking for an alarm clock that had 2 separate alarms as I often wake up at 2 different times. This fit the bill and so much more. The A/B alarms allows you to set one or the other or both alarms with one press. You can not only set the time and type of alarm: radio station, iPhone, buzzer, but you can even set the volume at which the alarm turns on.
I love the snooze feature - tapping the snooze button adds 10 minutes of time, tapping it more times adds additional 10 minute increments and the LCD display shows how much time you have added to the snooze.
When the alarm isn't actively snoozing, the snooze button, which is conveniently large and set in the top middle of the unit so you can hit it even in a sleepy daze, doubles to dim the LCD display. Hit it multiple times to cycle it from bright to off. At the lowest dim setting it is perfect for nighttime use, visible in total darkness but not so bright that it hurts your eyes.
The only negative is that my iPhone HAS to be removed from its case in order for it to dock. I got into the habit of doing it and it doesn't seem such a big deal now, but it could be annoying for some.

The Only Noise Canceling Bluetooth Over Ear Headph
on November 8, 2014

After searching high and low, surprisingly enough this is the only decent quality Bluetooth noise canceling over ear headphones available. (don't know why this is in the On-Ear section in Best Buy because it is definitely over the ear). After some experimenting, I feel very happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting the above features and can afford the premium price.
Bose has much better noise canceling but is wired, their Bluetooth version does not have noise canceling. Sony has a Bluetooth noise canceling headphone but it is ON EAR. Turtle Beach does have a gaming wireless 7.1 noise canceling headphone (which I purchased then returned because it was uncomfortable and the controls were awful).
These headphones sound great, although I think there is a slight quality loss due to the Bluetooth because the sound is slightly better when you use the included wires. I have it Bluetooth paired with my iPhone, Macbook Pro and Bluetooth TV output. You can only connect to one at a time, but it only takes a few seconds to switch between them.
I have yet to see anything close to the battery life they claim and there is no auto off. But the headphones charge up quickly and will charge from USB battery banks which I always have with me for my phone, so that is not a problem. Another great feature is that it will play wirelessly and charge simultaneously.
Finally the controls are great. Just one big "B" button and vol up down. Since the controls are very similar to the iPhone earbud controls it is easy to remember. Press B to pause/answer phone, press twice to skip to next song press 3 times to skip back etc.
The whole package is beautifully put together, it has the quality and look of an Apple product which probably explains why they purchased the company.
If you are on the fence, jump off and buy it. The only decision you need to agonize about is what color to buy!

With powerful sound, enveloping comfort and dynamic functions, the Turtle Beach Elite 800 headset delivers the future of gaming audio on your PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. Immerse yourself in rich, robust sound thanks to the DTS Headphone:X 7.1 channel surround sound and DTS surround sound modes that enhance your games, music and movies. Great Sound But Unusable Controls
on November 1, 2014
Posted by: DrDave
These headphones met everything I wanted in specs. High quality wireless + Bluetooth, surround sound, noise canceling feature, over the ear design and optical input. I have used them to play games, watch movies and connect to my iPhone for music and calls. The noise cancellation is decent and I generally have it on. The ear cups are soft, but overall they aren't very comfortable because the headband presses the cups too hard against the side of your head and there is no way to adjust the pressure. But that isn't the reason why I gave it 2 stars and will be returning the unit.
The reason is because the controls on the side are too easy to activate. The entire left and right side plates are the controls for 8 functions. It only takes a very light touch to activate one of them and the corresponding overly loud voice announcement of the function chosen. "Blue tooth on" "sound cancellation on" etc. Just brushing past the side of the headphones with your arm to scratch your head will activate something. It is absolutely impossible to use the headphones in bed or in an armchair to listen to stuff unless you sit or lie perfectly straight and still. Roll your head to the side and something will get activated, put your hand up to support the side of your head and something will get activated.
This basically makes it unusable for me despite the great features and sound. It is just too annoying to be interrupted every few minutes by an accidental press on the side (which in may cases disconnects you from the game, movie, music or phonecall you are on), l If only they had placed the controls better, like on the edge and recessed the buttons so that they can't get accidentally pressed, this would be a great headset.
