Perhaps the adapter doesn't pass through enough power during use. I found with the power plugged into the adapter, my MacBook Pro late 2016's battery would drain. If I plugged the power directly into the Mac, the external display would not work. I do not recommend this product. Wish I had read the reviews instead of going with the store employee's recommendation.
