Worthy upgrade

Upgraded from Epson 8350, was a pretty good starter but wanted some new features, better contrast and black levels. I was not let down by the 45es it is brighter than expected even in low lamp mode which I run predominantly. I do not have full light control and still very watchable during the day. At night the picture is as good as any tv I own including a 4k Samsung only comparing 1080p. No noticeable lag when gaming in game mode but I'm not hardcore gamer. Ran a cal really only had to drop contrast a couple point to get full scale. Only have 12hrs on the unit so will revisit but really impressed with picture quality right out of the box. It is quite I would compare fan noise to that of low rpm computer fans, can't hear it while watching a movie in all but the quietest of scenes.

I would recommend this to a friend!

WARNING

Lots of good reviews on line for this projector. Lots of bad reviews for Best Buy online. Despite what the product page on Best Buys website or what the salesman may tell you, this is NOT a wireless HDMI projector. And if you buy it and they are unable to install it because you need wireless you will probably never get your money back. I am still fighting to get mine back

Giving the projector a 1 star rating because of misunderstood or misquoted specification is silly. If you are going to spend $2000 on something take the time to research on multiple sites. I agree with you that the way it is written may lead you to believe it could be wireless but it was simple enough to find out on Sony website that is not the case. I believe they could have been referring to the wireless 3d glasses.

Best Projector there is under $2k....PERIOD.

When my VPL HW40ES was hit by lightning, my whole household went into a deep movie depression. We watched at least one movie, sporting event, or tv series every night on that machine. So obviously we where going to replace it with its new predecessor, the sony VPL HW45ES. The fact that it was $500 cheaper msrp was icing on the cake.
Probably if I had to say the best improvement made over the 40ES is it's more believable. By that i mean the picture looks more real. The colors look more natural and images look and move more life like. It's as if your where watching a live show or game in person.
Anyone who gives this projector less than 5 stars must have no knowledge of how to set up a projector, or they are just bashing sony for some other reason. This projector is defiantly a keeper, just like the 40ES was before it. Don't waste your money on the HDMI wireless adapter option unless you have no other choice. It will definitely degrade the picture quality. Always feed your projector the best possible source there is. BluRay, over the air, directv, cable, streaming in that order for the best results.
