Add a veritable entertainment center to your living room with this Insignia 49.5-inch LED TV. A trio of HDMI outputs lets you add a variety of devices to this TV, including consoles and Blu-ray players, while its 1080p resolution delivers everything in glorious HD. The LED backlighting of this Insignia 49.5-inch TV ensures fabulous color.

Faulty firmware 1.05.00

My unit is this exact model and revision. I also have had no luck updating the firmware from 1.04 to 1.05 using the supplied file on the support website. I tried formatting two different flash drives to FAT and FAT32 (usb 2.0 8gb and 16gb). I have tried both the bin and zip with and without the original file names l. I tried formatting these drives with Mac OSX and Win10. I have tried both GPT and MBR partition tables with various allocation sizes. The TV will prompt to update firmware after turning it on but will fail about a half second after starting the process. I have also tried to use the help menu in the settings to manually update the firmware.
Video jitter and motion handling deficiency is present regardless of the video source and resolution (I tried all of the hdmi ports too). None of the tv video settings (even sharpness) make a difference. I have also played around with chroma subsampling (4:2:2 and 4:2:0) and switching between RGB and yPbPr, and refresh rate from the output of my high end nVidia graphics card. CPU based Motion interpolation only slightly improved motion jitter/judder.
The Insignia tech support I spoke with also seems to have no clue how to solve the failed update issue as well. I wish I would have returned the tv while I could. If a rep of Insignia reads this, forward this message to your software programming team.
