Great addition but can be a pain to setup.

Works great once it is properly setup. Streaming from the main TiVo works great and it is a perfect way to setup a whole home DVR including streaming movies and music through sites like Pandora and Netflix. There is no TiVo fee associated with using a TiVo mini, it does rely on a full size TiVo that may require a fee. Something to know upfront, TiVo does not support the use of switches when networking a TiVo and TiVo mini. All TiVo devices have to be connected either directly to a cable modem/router or by way of a MoCA network. I will tell you how I set mine up to save you some headaches. I have a TiVo Bolt connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable and then have that Bolt running its own MoCA network so the TiVo mini can connect to it through the MoCA connection (through coax). I hope some of you find this review helpful.

I really like the Bolt, the included 1 years of TiVo service is fantastic. The interface is fast and easy to get around. I love the build in Applications like Netflix, Plex, Vudu, Amazon instant video, as well as music streaming services like Pandora. It all works together extremely well. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the included documentation just gives an overview of the device. You need to hit the internet for any detailed information on setup and use. Activating the M-Card can be a pain if the cable provider's reps do not know what they are doing. I bought a TiVo mini at the same time and set that up in the mater bedroom, via a MoCA network. The only equipment rental fee's Comcast is getting out of me is $1.50 for the M-Card.

This is my first Tivo not supplied buy Directv. Tivo needs to add Sling TV.
Get a red screen and freeze with netflix. Can't recommend at this time.

I would call Tivo support about the netflix application. I have the Bolt and have tested Netflix, Vudu, Plex and Pandora and they all work fine for me. The biggest issue I had was getting the Bold and my mini to work together.

I have a MoCA filter but haven't installed it yet and it seems to be working just fine. I just ran a speed test and it doesn't seem to effect my speed at all which makes sense since the MoCA network is internal between the mini and the Bolt.

Is it really bent like the photo indicates? Why?
Yes it is. It is just a design decision.

Do I still need my cable box to decode the signals?
No. Turn in your cable box and ask for a M-Card. Insert the M-Card into the TiVo Bolt and activate it with your cable provider.

Do you have to pay TIVO a monthly fee ?
TiVo covers the fee for the 1st year. You will have to pay TiVo the fee after that time.
