BEWARE OF THE POWER

Bought this because of its size and looks. Use mostly for reheating and cooking frozen veggies and other food items. The glass turntable often comes off the pivot. The track underneath displaces itself, too. I find it difficult to remember how to operate all the various cycle options. It is a powerful unit and we have overheated many a cup of coffee that has boiled over and spilled everywhere. It has taken a great deal of time to adjust. We usually have to power down. For our needs, this unit doesn't fit the bill. For others, it may just do fine.
What's great about it: Style and size
What's not so great: Too powerful, unstable turntable, too many cycles one cannot remember
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Quick and reliable in any damp space, the Frigidaire 70-pint dehumidifier is effective in keeping attics, basements, bathrooms, and garages dry. Frigidaire’s 70 pints-per-day dehumidifier is capable of continuous operation when the unit is located near a suitable low-level drain. It features full-function electronic controls, an easily accessible collection container with level indicator, and a washable filter. Its Effortless Humidity Control allows you to control the exact percentage of humidity in your room. The SpaceWise portable design includes a top handle, integrated side handles, and caster wheels making it convenient to move your unit from room to room.

RETURNED AFTER 10 DAYS
on July 7, 2014

I bought this model based on its ratings and customer reviews. I returned it because the humidistat on the unit was off by 10-15 points according to the new humidity monitor that I purchased and the older ones I already had. It ran constantly and never seemed to reach the modest humidity goal of 50%. I have an 800 sq ft basement area with some cobblestone walls (house built in 1875). It is very important that I am able to count on my humidifier operating properly and accurately. Disappointing as I found the unit to be quieter than most and easy to attach a hose for continuous drainage.
I also found Frigidaire customer service to be nonexistant. Tried calling two numbers and could not reach a live person. Emailed as their website suggested (also said I should expect a response in 48 hrs) and it took 12 days to receive a reply.
Thank goodness I bought this at Best Buy and there were no hassles with the return (must be done within 15 days of purchase/pickup). The employee serving the return desk said that he had other models returned with the same complaints.
What's great about it: It was the quietest dehumidifier we have had
What's not so great: Inaccurate humidistat, ran constantly, poor Frigidaire customer service.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

PLEASED WITH MY PURCHASE

I needed a window A/C for an upstairs BR (280 sq ft) with sunlight and two windows. Wasn't sure that the 8000 BTU size was correct. Yet this unit does the job. It is much quieter than a GE unit we have in the other room. Lightweight enough that I can lift myself. Easy to install. Clear instructions. I like that it has vents across the entire front that can be redirected up/down and right/left. Temp gauge is accurate as I have a wall thermometer in the room. I do not have a whirring noise that some people have complained about. Had a 20% coupon that I used; therefore, I was very pleased with the price, too. Overall, very happy with the purchase.
What's great about it: Does the job!
What's not so great: It's a window A/C!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Compressor whine unbearable, loud fan.
By Vanel from Ocean, NJ
I bought this at Best Buy to replace a 3 year old 6000 BTU Kenmore, I needed something a little more powerful.
The compressor "whine" on this model is unbearable, it's a high pitched whine that cuts through the air like a smoke alarm going off, though it wasn't literally as loud as a smoke alarm.
I could hear the compressor whine two rooms away from where the AC was located. The manual says it's "normal" for a high pitched whine to be heard from the compressor, but I truly hope I had a broken unit because if they all sound like that then Frigidaire should be ashamed of themselves. I thought maybe it needed to be broken in , but in two weeks of use the compressor whine did not change.
The fan is also very loud on High and Medium, but it is moving a lot of air so that's to be expected. When I had the fan on High it helped to slightly diffuse the compressor whine, when the fan is on low the compressor whine is at it's worst.
Second issue aside from noise was the thermostat. The unit did an excellent "initial" job of cooling the room, however once it hit it's target temperature it would turn off and not come on again until the room heated back up, I'm not talking 2-3 degrees, it was more like 5-6 degrees before the compressor would kick back on, this was noticeably uncomfortable, it lets the room get too hot before turning back on.
Possibly I had a broken unit, however I've seen similar reviews noting the same high pitched whine in this unit.

THIS UNIT IS PRESET TO ECON MODE
June 23, 2014
It specifically states in the instruction booklet that this unit is preset to the ECON mode. Therefore, it will shut off once a target temp has been reached and turn on again when the temp rises 2-3 degrees. That can easily be changed by resetting the mode. Our unit is in an upstairs BR, and I use this mode only during the day to conserve KW use.

Does it have auto-on, power went out feature?

Frigidaire customer service claims it does not, and there is not reference to such a feature in the instruction booklet. Yet I have found specs on this model on other websites that says it does. I finally figured out to run my own test and unplug, wait a few minutes and then plug in again. It started up at the same settings. I did, though, return my unit because the humidistat on the unit was defective.

Does this unit have a slide out chassis that can be mounted into a flat plexiglass panel? I need this to comply with new window specs.

No it does not. Perhaps you need to look at a through-the-wall model??
