VERY UNHAPPY...DISAPPOINTED...BAD CAMERA
on June 12, 2015

My first review was in March as a 4 star right after purchase before I began using. I am now waiting on repair of SECOND camera because first one ad same issues and was within 15 days. Recurring problem with error msg "turn off and then back on" happening at anytime. Camera won't function til after this "reboot" several times even in the middle of using. Camera malfunctioned at daughter's graduation this past Tues. Also drains batteries EXCESSIVELY and problems focusing. Exact same problems with first one, and after further research of reviews of other Sony Point and Shoot cameras, same issues. I should get camera back in two weeks or $$ back if they scrap it. Bottom line, Sony has a problem obviously somewhere in chipset or something and not fixing it At this time I CANNOT RECOMMEND SONY POINT AND SHOOT CAMERAS. BUMMER. seemed like nice camera with nice features and perfect for daughter's events, but OBVIOUSLY NOT!
My Best Buy number: 2871909703
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

RESPONSE TO MITCH AT SONY
June 13, 2015
To Mitch at Sony from my review;
So is SONY looking in to defect and going to correct it in ALL their cameras since it is in more than one model? A possible RECALL?

Camera died after a handful of uses
By Wkryan
We really enjoyed using this camera, but it decided not to turn on anymore. It started when the image turned pink with a green line down the left side. We thought it was an issue with the lcd/view finder, but when taking a picture it recorded the same image. Within a couple of days the camera became unresponsive. Since the camera is out of warranty I took it apart. Looks like there is an issue with the design of the arm that connects the lcd screen, but still doesn't explain why the image recorded the way it did, and why it died. There are certainly some design issues. I think we are done with Sony products for a while, especially after getting burned on this camera that was hardly used. Hundreds down the drain.

similair issues
June 28, 2015
I have the Sony DSC H300 model and have similar issues, and in fact the second one I have because first one died within one week and was able to exchange; is in for second repair at Geek Squad; lucky I purchased the plan. Bummer about these cameras.

is the h300 the same as the hx300?

there was a slight difference in the models, but I would need to do side by side compare on specs to see exact ones. I believe the hx300 is the better. h300 has WAY TOO MANY ISSUES THAT SONY NEEDS TO FIX!

COMPUTER INTERFACE

How do I get the camera & computer to talk to each other? Have connected USB cable but get no interaction.
it may take a few times plugging/unplugging, or a reboot for one or both of camera and computer. considering chipset issues with these cameras, probably the camera.
