5 stars with optional freezer ice maker

I love almost everything about this refrigerator. It fits into its space perfectly. The counter depth feature makes it fit much better than our old fridge, which stuck out into the doorway about 3 inches. This one just fits. I hooked a volt meter to it and found it uses about 1/3 the electricity of our old unit, but is just as big. I love the french door configuration, and the freezer is much better designed than our old side by side refrigerator.
The only reason I did not give this product 5 stars is because the ice maker is inadequate. I do not mind the small size of the ice cubes as much as the fact that it takes too long to make cubes and the bin that holds them is too small. This would not have been a problem if not for the fact that I love ice tea, and I make a pitcher of iced tea about every other day in my Mr Coffee Iced Tea pot, and it requires about 2 quarts of ice to make. If not for this, the ice maker would have been adequate for an occasional glass of ice. So I ordered the optional freezer mounted ice maker for $106.(FIB23A). It came in the mail Thursday evening and I installed it right away. It took a couple of hours by myself. The hardest part was removing the freezer door and then reinstalling it. This would have been much easier with a helper. Now it is Saturday morning and I just finished making a pot of iced tea. In 1 1/2 days, the ice maker made more than enough ice to fill the pitcher. And the ice was easily accessible. The ice bin sits on the top shelf of the freezer and it is simple to access by pulling out the shelf and pulling out the ice bin. It was less than half full, but had more ice than I needed.
With the added ice maker, this refrigerator gets a full 5 stars.

My spouse has hated our previous refrigerator ever since moving into our home 7 years ago. It was a side by side (sorry - don't remember the brand now), counter depth design, which was required by the compact nature of our half galley kitchen layout. It was fair at temperature control, but it's single drawer would fall out of its runners and spill food all over the floor on a regular basis. It also had no in door water or ice making capacity.
We are currently in the closing stages of a complete kitchen remodel, and already updated our old gas range with a new one from the Frigidaire Gallery series. As a surprise birthday gift (and to eliminate the shouted expletives from the dreaded drawer in the old unit!) I decided to purchase this unit during the recent July 4th sale. The price reduction of almost $1,000 off MSRP was the final factor in deciding to go with this model.
Installation was delayed almost three weeks as it appears that purchases from BestBuy.com take a back seat to in store delivery. Timing wasn't critical for us, but if you need a unit sooner than later, you will want to be aware of this, and factor it accordingly into your purchase and delivery planning.
The delivery itself was fine, and the two technicians had our old unit out and the new in in under half an hour. Though their set-up was limited to placing the unit in place, attaching the handles, and plugging in the power cord - that's it. I was left to remove all the protective film from the entirety of the doors and handles, as well as all the same and foam packing as well from the interior. I was also left to hook up the water line for the water and ice maker functions. None of this was a deal-breaker of course, but would have been nice to have had them take care of this and remove the packaging and protective material along with the old fridge. I filled our large outdoor recycle bin almost half way with all the stuff pulled off and out of the unit during set up.
Shelf and drawer installation was very intuitive and easy. And initial temperature set-up, and water line priming was simple and straight forward. No surprises in those regards at all. The LED lighting is bright with a nice fade-up effect when opening the door(s). The water filter came pre-installed from the factory, and the carbon air filter was a simple slip in installation.
Water flow isn't spectacular, but certainly is adequate to fill an average glass (and anything is better than nothing - which it was we dealt with before on our old unit.) Ice production is quite slow, but in reading previous reviews of this refrigerator, this wasn't any surprise. Time will tell how the water and ice dispensers hold up, as it seems that this is the one recurrent complaint of prior owners. Here's to hoping Frigidaire has made a redesign by now to fix the issues they've had here in the past.
All in all, the unit looks great in the kitchen, particularly next to the matching range. Very modern and sleek - understated, but classy. The display is easy to see, the water light just the right brightness at night, and the storage and layout well thought out. It appears that this counter depth Gallery line model shares most of the features, and design elements of Frigidaire's top of the line model costing almost $2,000 more.
It's just our first day with it - but we're very happy initially. And yes, the spouse LOVES it!

I asked the guys if they could hook up the water and when they saw the copper tubing they said they were told by Best Buy that they could not touch it. If we had plastic tubing, they would have hooked it up. This is ridiculous. Copper tubing is way more durable than plastic, and the manual even says to use copper tubing, never plastic. This was not a problem with the delivery people, but a problem with Best Buy. I had to go to the hardware store to get the hookup piece and a compression ring to hook it up. Not a big deal, but I think this is something the delivery/setup people should do.

The refrigerator replaced a 2006 Frigidaire side by side that worked perfectly, but was the wrong color (white) after I changed my stove and dishwasher to stainless, and I wanted a counter-depth for my small kitchen.
The new french door frig is fantastic! It keeps my vegetables much longer in the crisper, seems to hold more food than the full size side by side, and the ice/water dispenser works great. I love the smudge-proof stainless facade which keeps it looking beautiful.
I am very happy with my purchase!

It's a nice fridge. Some of the shelves are pretty small (height wise), and the cubes of ice are small. Also, one of our doors is about a half inch higher than the other - not sure why. Haven't called frigidaire yet regarding this. Overall, it's pretty great, we like it.

Beautiful unit. Wonderful lighting and the filter does a good job removing the bad taste leaving tasteless water and ice. However sales person said water is chilled, but it is not. Ice cubes are small and they do disappear quickly in the glass of water. This in turn makes you need more ice and you end up, like me, running out of ice. So if your in it for the cold water and ice, please check for a different refrigerator. I do also love the bottom freezer with large capacity.

The manual also says the water is chilled, but you are right, it is not. I do not understand why they would even have a water dispenser without chilling the water.
If your ice maker is inadequate, I recommend purchasing the optional ice maker that is easily installed in your freezer. It holds about three times as much ice as the top ice maker and the cubes are bigger. Check out the pics I included in my review.

I love how lit up the inside is. Shelves are very versatile. The COLD drawer is great. One draw back for some is the water line isn't cooled so it comes out room temp. But I prefer mine room temp. Or just add ice!! Also a must have is the SMUDGE PROOF!!! Some comments said the ice maker wasn't big enough. I think it's great but we also keep a smaller container of ice down in the freezer for coolers etc.

Not this particular model. But Frigidaire makes other French Door models without this feature.

What accessories are required to be purchased for a new installation to be complete?
Do I need a water line kit or power cord, etc...?
You will need a 1/4" water line kit. They recommend using a copper or stainless steel water line. And you will need the nut with a compression ring, as these are not included.
Though it is not required, I would also recommend purchasing the optional freezer mounted ice maker, as the ice maker included with the refrigerator does not hold a lot of ice and takes a long time to make ice.

Full Width Store More Drawer...
Can you please tell me if the full width drawer is temperature and/or humidity controlled? Also, can you tell me the height of the drawer as I am used to storing rather bulky items (roast or a whole chicken) in a drawer that looks similar.
No, the full width drawer does not have any controls. And it is not high enough for bulky items. It is made for flat items like cheeses and deli meats. Not to worry, though, as there are two food storage bins that are humidity controlled and can easily hold a big roast or chicken.

CORRECT TEMPERATURE.......HOW LONG MUST I WAIT????
After initial installation, how long should it be before the freezer temperature reaches 0 degrees and the refrigerator temperature reaches 37 degrees? Called Best Buy and they said we need to allow at least 12 hours!!!!!!!!!!!????????? REALLY? What is a person supposed to do with the food that was in their old refrigerator/freezer (which we no longer have, had the installers remove it for us) during this 12 hours? My house is cooler than the new refrigerator after 6 hours of being plugged in, the freezer is at 78 and the fridge is at 84. Food would spoil if I put it in this new fridge. If it is normal that it will take 12 hours or so to get to the appropriate temperatures then this information NEEDS to be told to the person buying the product so they can prepare to have ice chests for their food or maybe neighbors that would help with storing the food in their refrigerators. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
Hmmm. Our fridge was at working temperature in about 2 hours. No problem with the food. In fact, I remember 20 years ago when we first bought our last refrigerator and it took 2 DAYS to cool.
