Tackle your family's laundry with this Maytag top-loader washer. It has 11 wash cycles to correspond with your exact needs, and a durable PowerWash agitator scrubs clothes gently to remove stubborn stains. This Maytag top-loader washer comes with a deep fill option to tackle bedding and other large items, and a rapid wash cycle when you're in a hurry.

Good cleaning from a noisy washer

This washer is the noisiest washer I’ve ever had. In fact, it makes so many strange sounds, I thought it was defective. So I exchanged it for another same one. The second washer made the same unusual sounds. For example, when the agitator turns back and forth, it makes a “clunk” sound at the end of each turn. When the water pump turns on periodically to drain water during the final spin cycle, it makes a grinding/ratcheting sound as if the gears slipped (sounds like a rapid “cot-cot-cot-cot-cot”). Also, anything other than a small load will sometimes cause the final high-speed water extraction spin cycle to sound a bit like a little helicopter is landing (no kidding). And this washer, despite being perfectly level, vibrates more than I expected. (By comparison, the recalled Samsung washer I had was very quiet, but then it did have more serious problems.) Maybe I should have anticipated that this would not be a quiet washer, because the user guide has a section entitled “Normal Sounds You Can Expect” – although there’s no mention of the type of worrisome sounds I am hearing. So, for me, unusual sounds/noise is the biggest problem with this washer.
A couple of other negatives: (1) there is no Pre-Soak mode, (2) the tub is not 100% stainless steel, and (3) even when cold temperature is selected for the wash, hot water may be added to maintain a minimum water temperature (but it added hot water for me when the air temperature was 70+ degrees!).
On the plus side, the washer does a good job of cleaning clothes (better than my recalled Samsung) – probably the most important quality. The “Deep Fill” mode does seem to provide an adequate amount of extra water (unlike the Samsung). The washer does a very good job of extracting water from the clothes, so drying time is minimized. The Whirlpool/Maytag repair guy was fast and knowledgeable (they came to my house the very next day to check out the first washer). And my local Best Buy was easy to work with during my exchange of the first washer.
These are my observations, but I’ve used this Maytag for only a couple of weeks. Hopefully, those unusual sounds are just sounds, and maybe they will not impact the durability of the washer. And only time will tell if the pluses remain pluses for many years down the road. I guess a more meaningful review can be made only after the 1-year warranty period has passed.
Hope this helps you.
I would recommend this to a friend!
