Huge UHD TV monitor for good price
on June 8, 2017
Posted by: JoeS
from Port Saint Lucie, FL
About four years ago I purchased a TV at Best Buy. I got the 5 year Geek Squad warranty and that TV broke. This was what we negotiated to replace my 70" HDTV. As such I am quite pleased, I will explain positives and negatives as clearly as I can.
The basic sound with this TV is terrible. Change it to enhanced and it is quite good, very easy to hear and it projects well. It is a bit boomy as it has an enhanced bass feature that you cannot adjust once you pick the enhanced sound mode. That's a little annoying, but most TV shows don't exhibit this "defect" too much, so depending on your environment, you may or may not notice it. We have 24" studs in our walls, so they vibrate more than the standard 16" studding would.
The picture is vibrant, bright, and the TV does a good job at upscaling from 1080p and 1080i. There is minor image smear once in a while, but mostly it keeps up.
I needed to adjust the voice delay to get lip synch. That might be a matter of my Comcast is 1080i and needs more processor time to get it to 2160p.
Netflix is stunning when playing 4K native mode. We have 100kb+ internet and the 4K is simply amazing. Perhaps there is better, but going from 1080p to 4K is heart stopping.
This TV is 5" diagonally bigger than the old TV, but because the border around the TV has gotten smaller in those 4 years, it is only marginally larger. We adapted to the larger image in a few days. However, I'm still taken by the brightness, color, and clarity of the image. The TV we had was a Sharp, so it was no slouch, but this one blows it away.
We have only used the smart remote a little, as we have an universal remote and it handles all our home theater equipment well. Those used to an ipod will feel comfortable immediately with the universal remote. However, it's not just up down type controls. It's onscreen control. As such we pretty much just set it aside and use it if needed.
Would I recommend this TV to others? I would, I like it a lot. It's a pleasing TV. If I were to buy it, the price seems very good when one compares the quality and capabilities of the TV.
We use it for Blu-Ray, Netflix, and Comcast. All worked right out of the box without error.
I'm very pleased with the upgrade.

Awesome Upgrade for us
on December 29, 2016
Posted by: JoeS
from Port Saint Lucie, FL
We were looking for a moderately sized speaker to upgrade our outdoor system. The Polks were on sale at Best Buy, so I was looking through them. While the specs for these don't include much low end (60 Hz.) I decided to give them a try.
Since they were a retrofit, it took about 10 minutes to pull down the old speakers and mount these. I then fired up the system and got no sound. So I kept bumping up the volume. (you know where this is going) Ultimately I realized I picked the net radio and it takes a few to 15 seconds to buffer. BOOM, on they came with a vengeance.
Wow. My wife was inside and she opened the door and said "these are great! Maybe too much?" I said no I just have them too loud. Lowered the volume and they still sounded terrific.
Highly recommended.

Does not function as stated by Fitbit
on July 8, 2016
Posted by: JoeS
from Port Saint Lucie, FL
1. The Charge HR does not count steps correctly. I've had fitness devices in the past and know how to use them. I've followed the rules, tried both wrists, and simply walking 100 steps, counting 1, 2, 3, 4, ..., 100 yields an 89 step count for me. That's terrible as it's an 11% error.
2. The marketing and sales information states it will synch with your iPhone, Android, or Windows device. Not really, it will pass the data through those devices to the Fitbit cloud (if operational see #3) and then display that data on the listed devices, as well a web interface. None of the interfaces have all the information, so you'll need to use multiple interfaces to get all your data.
3. The Charge HR did not work to collect Heart Rate history intermittently yesterday (7-6-2016) and from about 8am today (7-7-2016) through at least 3:30PM this afternoon ET. At which point I took the device off and requested a refund. This is not useful.
4. As you gain more history, the synch takes longer and longer. Indeed I've had it fail to synch, even when I'm 2 feet from the device and 4 feet from the internet router. No way it's a technical failure in my equipment.
5. The App to calculate your route is terrible and miscalculates by 10% at least, for the distance you travel. The GPS information stored is terribly inaccurate. Thus making it nearly useless. I checked several routes via multiple methods and the App was wrong. Others have reported this. The app literally maps the route with seemingly random paths. I've seen it cut 1/8 of a mile off before a turn. It's clearly taking snapshots of GPS data and interpolating the path.
6. Heart Rate data is off, Resting Heart Rate is at least, wait for it, 10% high.
7. The Charge HR does not function according to the specifications in any way. Nothing works within a reasonable tolerance for a consumer product. +-10% is not acceptable, except for a toy perhaps.
Was there no quality control before these things shipped?
I feel it is important to stress this so others are not fooled. The reviewers, who use these for a few days, might think it's working just fine. But after a few weeks, it becomes clear they don't work as advertised.
Thanks for reading, for the record, I've got 34 years in the tech industry, and I've reviewed technical devices and software, and this is not a good piece of technology. I am completely disappointed.

No Extension of Service at All
on January 9, 2016
Posted by: JoeS
I am very disappointed with this product. It was relatively easy to set up. Connected to my router right away. Was able to connect my computer to it. Placed it 1/2 way between the weak service area and the router. Checked connectivity at the extender, I had 5 bars on my computer from the router. Switched to the extender, had 5 bars from it. Went to the room with issues, 2 bars. Switched the the router, 3 bars.
I'm a tech guy, been working with computers for decades, this device doesn't do what it is supposed to do. Did factory reset, it will be back at the Best Buy store tomorrow. Useless device.

Not good experience
By Prav
I was Looking to a purchase a light weight laptop for my home office use, I purchased a open box Laptop from store. Laptop box not displayed any proper information about laptop specification. I was looking for a i7 with 256 SSD laptop. Best buy store assistant said it is SSD laptop. After coming back to home I noticed it was 1TB hard drive and returned the laptop. Again I searched in the store and I found this HP Spectre 360 online and went 30 miles store to purchase. This open box item $810 and new one $899 (10% on the new laptop). Previous best buy offering the $50 off and on open laptops, so requested for $50 off from store floor manager. He said that store may be offering $50 on open box but we are not able to honer. I bought for $810+ tax. after coming home start installing, then noticed the power plug not related to USA( attached screen shoot). This is a Geeksquad certified open box( attached screen shoot). Geeksquad not verified when they are certified.
My final recommendation please don't buy open box laptop's from best buy. This is a worst experience with Geeeksquad certified. I spent my time to travel, toll tax and Gas expenses to buy this laptop.Really very bad experience with open box laptop's from best buy.

Useless review
February 1, 2016
You complain about a unit that didn't match your specs, then you complain about a power cord. You said nothing about the actual computer. Giving the computer a 1-star rating because the open box product had the wrong power cord is not helpful to all of us trying to determine if this is the right computer for us.
While I understand why Best Buy doesn't want to delete reviews like this, however it isn't helpful and reduces the rating of an otherwise fine laptop.

Great unit with caveats
By cpkcw
This unit is an upgrade/replacement for my recently dead Pioneer Elite receiver.
The receiver is relatively easy to setup. While shopping for a new receiver, I asked every sales rep if it supported an iPod. Unfortunately, I wasn't specific enough, because it only supports them through AirPlay. You cannot control you iPod with the remote control. You are forced to use a 3.5 mm to RCA adapter to connect an iPod directly.
The remote control buttons are tiny and require you to remember what button to push to play a DVD, TV, etc. This isn't really an issue for me, but my wife hates it.
The sound quality and channel separation is excellent. The video pass through is clear, and somehow better than my old Pioneer.

Just sounds ok
By DwD0CO
It does what it supposed to do. But it's sound is not great. It's ok, but if you like and expect good sound out of your speakers don't buy this speaker. If you need the speaker for the music cast, then buy the bigger speaker. I have it in my kitchen, and it just sounds hollow and not crisp. I don't have a lot of room so the size works great, but the sound is disappointing.

Overall I agree
February 9, 2017
I overall agree, the sound is not great. However, I didn't expect it to rock, just produce background music. As such, it works well. If you are buying these speakers as a significant listening zone, then I agree, don't buy them. However, I bought two more and they really extend the sound nicely throughout the house.

The major difference is better DAC for the RX-A1060. Also has some more power, more inputs and output options. More DSP modes (if you care) and overall it's the bottom end of the top of the line.

Very Disappointed
By QueenR
I bought this to use the MusicCast feature with my Yamaha RX-A760 receiver. The receiver works good as a receiver and does what it is suppose to but the MusciCast feature for multi room does not work. If you want multi room look at another manufacturer. DO NOT BUY YAMAHA FOR MULTI ROOM CAPABILITY. There is a constant skip it simply DOES NOT WORK. I currently have an open case with Yamaga (slow response). They seem to know this feature does not work and are just dragging this out, and yes I'm running the latest firmware on the units and the latest software on iPhone and MusicCast app. Very dissatisfied.

Works great for me
May 22, 2017
I'd question the quality of your home network. I have had this system now for months and never yet did I have any failings with it. We have a Yamaha receiver an outdoor set in the second zone, and three zones with MusicCast. It's fun to use and the sound is substantially better than I'd have imagined. Move one of your speakers close to the network router and see if the problems go away. Then you'll know it's a network problem.

Doesn't replace your Bluray players, No 3D ability
By Hapkidomaster
Let me begin with what is good (as my mother taught me.) This UBD M-9500 4K UHD Bluray player (2017 model) supplies a great 4K image and has all the Apps you could want (thanks Samsung) as does last years model the UBD K8500 (2016 model).
Now the BAD. I had purchased THIS player to Upgrade and REPLACE my other Bluray players. Hooked it up to my Sony 79X900B and loved the picture with my 4K disks. When I tried to play one of my 3D blurays, it did not work so I tried another that didn't work as well. Started doing research and find that this player will NOT SUPPORT 3D blurays (last years model will) This is Samsung's the top of the line 4K Bluray player and should be backwards compatible with all the other formats that came before it. ALL the other 4K UHD Bluray players on the market (Sony, Panasonic, LG, Oppo, etc) have 3D playback capability. Now that I have done MUCH MORE research, I find that this is the ONLY 4K UHD player that will not play your 3D blurays. With all the advancements in 3D imaging for movies and the great 3D Blurays and movies coming out (just bought and watched - Doctor Strange on 3D bluray) and it looks FANTASTIC. As well as Fantastic Beast's and Where to Find Them in 3D which adds a whole dimension to the movie watching experience (Also looking forward to Kong: Skull Island). There are a huge number of people who love 3D and have extensive collections of 3D disks (I have somewhere over 50 myself) and I don't understand why Samsung (formerly a leader) would be the only maker who's player doesn't support all backwards compatible formats. So, as for myself, I will probably purchase the Sony model X-800 which also happens to be $100 cheaper? Go figure???

Not very good, but better than most
By XxKRHxX from Houston, TX
I have been through numerous activity trackers/smart watches. I have also read more product reviews and watched more videos about these things than I care to remember. What I would like is a durable smart watch with GPS, HR that is kind of accurate, activity tracking for several different activities, a readable display, and at least 5 days battery life. If I could get all that under $200, that would be great. I bought this Forerunner 35 to replace a Forerunner 235 with broken face glass ($100 to get that fixed if you care to try). The Forerunner 35 has the features I was looking for, the size and looks were not bad, and it came in well under $200. That said, the HR tracking is just as bad on the 35 as it was on the 235. In general, if you want good HR tracking get a sensor that goes around your chest. The GPS on the 35 is very slow to find a signal compared to the 235, and sometimes won't find a signal at all unless the device is power cycled. Sometimes when you power cycle, the device won't turn back on until it gets a few minute to rest or whatever it does. The display is always on and is easier to read than the 235 without the backlight on. The battery lasts 5 to 7 days with the HR tracking turned off at all times (not much point in having it on if it is wrong). Overall, this is the best activity tracker/smart watch I have purchased. So, that should mean it deserves 4 or 5 stars, but the other devices I have tried are poor at best, so this Forerunner 35 is the best of a bunch of poor devices. At this point, I am going back to an actual watch, and I will measure my activity based on sweat and waist size.

I have to disagree
July 9, 2017
I find the heart rate tracking pretty darn good. I have spot checked it several times and it's close enough that it serves its function. What's nice is if you want really accurate heart rate, you can wear a chest band with this fitness watch.
As to GPS, I get GPS inside my house prior to going out on a walk or bike ride. I do this 2-3 times a day and have never had a problem getting GPS. The GPS results on the maps are accurate within error margins of civilian GPS.
I'm not sure what you are expecting from a fitness product like this, but I am exceptionally pleased with its overall performance and heartily recommend it.
Perhaps you got a defective device.

As Advertised
By PABikerHiker
I purchased the FR35 mainly for the wrist heart rate and step counting features. I have a Garmin GPS and had a Polar H1 (wrist strap broke).
I will go trough the features I have used:
HR
Seems to be fairly accurate when I checked with my BP Monitor which also does HR.
Steps
When you do not do a specific activity like running, walking or biking the device counts your steps by your arm motion not the GPS. If you do some activity that makes your arm move even if you are sitting it will count as steps, so you need to be aware of that, but overall I think the step feature works well.
Biking
Works great, but you need to make sure the GPS is turned on.
Walking
Works great, tracked well when compared to a GPS
Running and Cardio I have not used as of yet
Sleep
This is a great feature I did think I would use, but it tracks light and deep sleep along with bathroom breaks. Very interesting data reports.
Notifications
Another feature I did not think I would use but it is handy to get vibrating notifications without having to look at your phone or PC.
Software Updates
This was the only problem I had. When I got a notification about a Software Update, the device would lockup. After two calls to Garmin Support the Update feature is now working. Be aware of this potential defect.
Durability
I am concerned about the wristband since there are no replacements available now, but hopefully will come later if a problem. The device seems okay now, but I understand digital devices are only expected to last three years, I am guessing that will be the life of FR35 and supposedly something better will be available then anyway.
Garmin Connect Software for you phone or PC
The Garmin Connect program is great. after syncing you get all kinds of data including maps, elevation, HR, speed, calories, etc. It is fun to see your progress or lack of over time.
That is all for now.

Stop Watch Answer
July 9, 2017
Not a stop watch per se, rather it does have a "split" timer feature. For example, set it to track biking every 5 miles, you get 5 mile spit times. Set for walking and running for 1 mile splits. Etc. That's all tracked and reported in the system.

What is the difference between 2 way and 3 way speakers besides the price

Two way speakers have two speakers, three way have three. The third speaker in a three way system handles the middle range of sounds, typically voices.

Well constructed two way systems can handle most sound, but typically don't handle the lowest tones. That's the reason for having the midrange speaker because the woofer in most three ways can't handle mid frequencies effectively and still produce the bass it is intended to.

Trade off is typically having less low frequency capabilities.

Is there room enough on the back of the speakers to connect the wires using banana plug connectors. The banana plugs are approximately 1.75" deep

There is not enough room for 1 3/4" connectors.

Does it has a gps for golf?

The Fitbit has an app for iPhone, Android, and Windows that will track your activity. It has walk, run, hike options. The tracking app is highly inaccurate, it takes snapshots of positions via GPS and interpolates the route based on that data. (to the best of my ability to guess how it has me walking through walls and other people's houses). It's +-10% accurate.
