I bought this TV at Best Buy on 12/31/15. It was marked down $70 to $199.99. I saw a floor display model, but did not check the sound. Upon setting up this TV at home, I am greatly disappointed. Firstly, the flimsy plastic legs are not of good design, as the TV could possibly topple over. Secondly, the sound quality is absolutely awful. The bottom mounted internal speakers are low quality, and while there are graphic equalizer settings with which to tinker, they don't improve upon the overall sound quality. There is a Digital Audio Output jack, but that requires the purchase of a higher end soundbar. What is greatly missing is the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack, to plug in a simple pair of powered external speakers. The picture quality of this TV is superb, but I cannot recommend the purchase of this model as is. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in Samsung!

Does this TV have a clock setup, giving actual time
I really like to be able to set up a clock on my TV so that I can check the time. I don't have a clock in my bedroom and this has been very helpful. I know this has a sleep timer, and wonder if that is related to an actual time (clock) set.
Yes, this TV has an internal clock which can be manually set.

Does this TV have a light that stays on when the TV is off?
Yes, there is a tiny orange light at the bottom right of the unit that stays on when the TV is off.

Will this play DVDs? Can a flash drive or sd card be inserted?
Yes, this TV has a USB input and will play MP4, AVI, MPG, etc.

Can I use it with a converter box? I don't have cable or dish -just plain old TV

I have received in the box, a pkg. of round black objects and don't know where they should go, as I cant find anything in the instruction sheet
I wondered this, as well. I'm assuming they are grommets used for mounting this TV to a wall.

Yes, but only by using the Digital Audio Optical output. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack.
