I went into Best Buy and tried every pair of headphones on the rack and decided on these. I currently play music and have several songs on iTunes. I had a pair of Beats Solo 2 for about a year and one side went out that's why I am buying new headphones. Here is the difference. Beats have more deep bass but not much I can tell it in the bass drum. The beats midrange is just ok. The JBL's have a very strong midrange for electric guitars etc. Vocally, the beats have a warm but thin sound. The JBL's are about the same but with more air and clarity. Treble on both are even. The JBL's work well in all music genres but really excel in Rock. They produce enough bass and treble to perform well in Rap, Hip -hop and pop as well. These headphones are well balanced, very clear and detailed. Listen to cymbals when testing if they sound harsh, the recording is either over compressed or the treble isn't eq'd right. Great low end, midrange and treble. YES you can have it all. 2 negatives headphones are tight and get uncomfortable over time if u have a big head.. Second, directions were confusing and hard to read too light a font. Stay way from Sony muddy treble and Bose has a washy treble. FYI they get even better as they break-in

When I first hooked up these speakers I thought they sounded a little harsh with a thin vocal . However , this was totally my fault I had the treble set at +4. Once I turned it down to around 0 or neutral the warmth poured back into them I actually settled on +1 for treble +3 bass. These speakers have good strong bass for a 5.25 woofer however I did add a subwoofer and it did fill out the sound. After playing them for around 12 hours for a couple of days the cymbals and treble was very present but was sweet sounding not harsh at all. I have heard things with these speakers I have never heard before. They are crystal clear!!! most importantly warm as well once broken in. Even though these speakers are more efficient than most I have heard klipsch speakers like a strong receiver so don't buy a cheap disposable receiver and expect it to sound good. My best advice while testing at Best Buy remember you are in a huge store so bass is omnidirectional so it will sound weak also most important make sure you have the Best Buy sales person set the treble to around neutral not all the way up. Most places turn the bass and treble all the way up and forget about it and think that sounds best. With some speakers maybe not Klipsch. This has to be one of the best purchases I have ever made. I know they were not on sale but at $249.00 with this sound quality I would have probably paid more. If you find them on sale jump on them don't hesitate great purchase.
What's great about it: Good bass for small speakers, warm rich sound once broken in
