Great and Reliable Dash Cam with Some Quirks
on April 19, 2024
Posted by: BPTech
I have been wanting to upgrade to a 2k dashcam from 1080p for a while, and finally did when the Q200 hit the market, along with a 1080p rear dash cam. I have had a few other dash cams before, one with a built-in WiFi like this one so I do have something that I can compare it with. Let's go over the features and impressions of the dash cam:
INSTALLATION:
- Installation was quite easy, especially if you have the ODBC power adapter cable (sold separately sadly) but it is quite worth it, especially if you want to have the option of parking mode enabled. Other wise, install is still easy, you can use a 12v adapter that is provided with an extremely long USB cable to route through the car. The provided tool they give you to help guide the wire into your headliner and trim is great and makes install a breeze. The instructions are clear and I love how the app has a guided line on the live view to help you perfectly align the dash cam.
QUALITY
- The camera quality is exceptionally good for the front view because of the 2k quality and also the enablement of super night mode helps in dark areas at night. Absolutely no issues reading license plates from afar. The rear camera is in 1080p sadly, but still provides good quality footage.
- The quality of the product itself is also quite good. I actually do really like the simplistic design of the front camera, no need to be distracted with a LCD screen, not an absurd amount of buttons to press.
APP:
This is where I need to knock a star off sadly. I was hoping the app would work very well, and honestly, for the most part, it does, but it is quite buggy with the Wi-Fi connection. Sometimes the camera will just randomly disconnect after connecting, the download speed of files is a little slow, about 1mb/s.... it takes a good while to load the video files, take a good while to connect. The interface is a little confusing when you are trying to download events, also annoying how you have to download the front and rear files separate, it won't just automatically download both, you have to manually choose both. Settings on the camera are confusing and the app leaves little to be desired in terms of explaining to you what every option means...
PARKING MODE:
Another reason I had to knock a star off. It is fine for impact detection, but the motion detection feature, holy moly does it not work well. I set it to the lowest setting of motion detection, parked in the GARAGE and some how it decided to record 25 events overnight, with literally nothing happening in all of them. Pretty buggy, not impressed at all with that, almost invalidates parking mode. Maybe it needs a firmware update in the future to address that issue but the motion detection quite frankly sucks and will eat your entire memory card in an hour. And then when you get in the car, your camera will yell at you over and over "INSUFFICNENT MEMORY FOR MOTION RECORDING" until you turn the car on.
Overall, its a good entry level starter front/rear dashcam combo. It is better than most on the market in this price range and despite its flaws, delivers good quality imagery and gives me peace of mind when I drive.

Size Truly Doesn't Matter with the WOOZOO!
on April 2, 2024
Posted by: BPTech
Working from home is the norm now for most, and with that, comes sitting in a tiny room that I call an office for 8 hours a day that gets incredibly hot and stuffy, even with AC. Since my room is quite small, there really isn't room for a tower fan or box fan, and they are very noisy and annoying when you are trying to get work done. But wait... there is a solution and it is called WOOZOO!
Upon unboxing the fan, it is pretty small, definitely small enough to put on any desk, nightstand etc. Then I saw it says it can cover up to 300sq ft which I did not believe for such a small fan. Now, my room is 80 sq ft, but my living room is 450. So I first put it in the living room, and it definitely did a great job at circulating the air in the room, I was able to feel the effects in at least half of the living room which for a fan this size, is incredibly impressive.
Now when I put it in my office, that is where it really shined. The natural breeze setting is ultra quiet, provides a great cooling effect, and comfortable. I love how the fan goes up and down along with side to side to get the most air circulation possible. The fan is quiet in all modes, even on max speed, it is way quieter than an equivalent box or tower fan. Another nifty feature of this fan is how they give you suggestions of other uses for it. They tell you how to position it for cooling, for use with a heater, and even for drying clothes!! I actually did use this to dry a cooling blanket of mine, and it dried it within an hour, way way way faster than 24 hours to air dry.
Just get one, get two, get three, get one for every room!! It is the best fan on the market.

Productivity From Anywhere
on March 19, 2024
Posted by: BPTech
In the hustle of today's remote work culture, versatility is key. The Logitech Casa Pop-Up Desk Work From Home Kit is a game-changer, offering a compact, portable solution that adapts to your workspace needs with finesse and style.
PROS:
First and foremost, portability reigns supreme with this kit. Its pop-up design makes it a breeze to set up and take down, making it the perfect companion for those on the go. Whether you're hopping between coffee shops or working from a hotel room, this minidesk travels like a dream.
Now, let's talk peripherals. The trackpad is a standout feature, rivaling even Apple's renowned trackpads. With multipoint functionality, navigating your screen feels smooth and effortless, just like the real deal.
Pair that with the Casa Keys keyboard – compact yet mighty. Its sleek design doesn't compromise on functionality, boasting built-in macros that streamline your workflow. Typing feels like a dream, even on the go. Sadly it is not backlit, which is a minor blow to an otherwise flawless keyboard.
And let's not forget the ergonomic wonder that is the Casa Book stand. Designed to elevate your laptop to eye level, it's a game-changer for long hours at the desk. Say goodbye to neck strain and hello to optimal comfort!
CONS:
However, no product is without its flaws. The Casa Book stand, while ergonomic, may struggle with heavier laptops. Its hard poly-plastic construction, while lightweight, can lead to slight sagging under the weight of bulkier devices.
Additionally, while the Logitech Casa Pop-Up Desk Work From Home Kit is undeniably impressive, it does come with a slightly higher price tag than expected. At $30 over what some may deem reasonable, it's worth considering whether the added convenience justifies the cost.
In conclusion, the Logitech Casa Pop-Up Desk Work From Home Kit is a true contender in the realm of portable workspaces. With its unmatched portability, top-notch peripherals, and ergonomic design, it's a must-have for anyone looking to maximize productivity on the go.

Massive Sound in a Tiny Package!
on November 13, 2023
Posted by: BPTech
As an audiophile, I am always searching for the best sound systems, earbuds, headphones etc. I have tried a myriad of soundbars throughout the years, some were pretty good, some were flops, and then came along the AMBEO series from Sennheiser. Honestly, for a "mini" soundbar and no subwoofer that comes with it, my expectations were quite low. A high price tag and no sub? I surely thought this would flop. But no, my expectations were blown away by Sennheiser. They have crafted a truly incredible soundbar, and to call it the SONOS beam killer would be an appropriate claim by people. Let's go over why.
SETUP:
- Setup was OK. I did have a tiny glitch/bug when setting up the soundbar. I chose to use the apple HomeKit setup method where it would piggy back off your phone WiFi to set up the soundbar, this seemed to work, then it asked to update firmware, I said sure, then 5 minutes passed, 10... 15... 30.... 45... the soundbar still wasn't working. I said ok let's just unplug it during this "firmware" update and pray for the best. Luckily the power reset did the trick, I was able to re-do the setup (not with the apple homekit method this time) and it worked like a charm. I also skipped the firmware update the first time and did it manually later. Otherwise, it is mostly plug and play after you configure it with the app.
APP:
- Sennheiser hit a homer with the app to control this soundbar. So many people have tried and failed miserably at making a decent app to control a sound system. But this app, works quite good, has tons of rich features and never has an issue syncing with the soundbar. The room calibration is great, it truly makes a difference in placing phantom speakers around the room. The AMBEO soundscapes are cool if you want to impress your friends or if you want to anger your neighbors ;).
BUILD:
- Solid build, 7 pounds and small and compact, No complaints there.
SOUND:
- Here is the moment we have all been waiting for... how does it sound? Well let me tell you, this thing blows everything I have used out of the water. The bass on this thing is extremely powerful for a soundbar. Truly, if you are in a smaller room, you don't need a sub with this thing, it delivers enough low end and a fantastic high end. The AMBEO feature is the star, this thing will deliver a true cinematic experience in your room and immerse you in your content. This soundbar handles all types of sound sources flawlessly, dolby audio, stereo, atmos, HIFI you name it, it will handle it without having to constantly change the modes. I had a 5.1 surround sound system with a sub and rear satellites, and the AMBEO mini blows it out of the water. It does a BETTER job with just one mini soundbar. And this is in a large living room with 20 foot cathedral ceilings!!
The only thing I wish is that Sennheiser made a MINI subwoofer. I do not need the massive 8 inch sub for this bar. PLEASE make a 5-6 inch sub for the mini bar, I will buy it in a heartbeat.
Get this soundbar if you want a small footprint but with massive, amazing sound.

A solid 5 in 1 Air-Fryer/Oven
on October 14, 2023
Posted by: BPTech
Another day, another air fryer! I have had many air fryers in my life, but never one that was a 5 in 1. This is the main reason I was compelled to get this item; I was getting sick and tired of having a toaster oven, a toaster, and an air fryer all taking up valuable real estate on my kitchen counter. I wanted something that would combine all 3 of those items into one but still be able to deliver the performance you would expect from each item individually. The Bella Pro Series 5 in 1 grill and air fryer meets those marks.
The device comes with 3 different "attachments" one for grilling, one for air fryer purposes, and one for baking. Using the air fryer is fairly simple in ideology, but in practice, this is where the product has issues. For example, the amount of buttons you have to press to set the temperature and time is too much, you have to first select an option such as chicken or fries, then you have to press a lightbulb to change the time (does not make sense) and then again to change the temperature, but then after that, it just blinks at you until you press start. Also, the noise these things emits (the beep) is so loud, too loud. Also, to cancel, you have to hold the power button for 5 seconds and then wait a minute for it to stop which is annoying if you just simply made a mistake in setting the wrong mode or temperature.
As far as performance, there is nothing to write home about. It cooks the same as any other air fryer I have had. The toast function actually does give the toast a nice shade on both sides, bagels are hit or miss. I did cook some salmon in here and it turned out perfect with the grill attachment, leaving grill marks and a crispy but moist interior.
If the LED menu was just more thought-out and better designed, this would be a 5-star product.

The Best Massage Gun on the Market
on October 14, 2023
Posted by: BPTech
Weightlifting has become an integral part of my life ever since the COVID shutdown of 2020. I needed an outlet to burn off steam and stress but also wanted to make a conscious effort to better my health and see noticeable changes in my figure. However, when doing this, the intensity of the workouts would grow and grow and so would the muscle aches and fatigue and lactic acid build up. I have used multiple brands of massage guns including Therabody's big name competitor. However, this one trumps them all, simple because of the care and ingenuity that Therabody put into this product to make it shine above the rest.
Let's start with the physical shell of the gun first. The ergonomic design and shape of this device, while it looks weird to some, is probably the best feature of a Theragun. You can reach spots you normally would not be able to reach with a typical massage gun and you can hold this gun multiple ways and they are all comfortable in the hands. Using the gun is as easy as pressing one button and then you can adjust the speed and turn on/off LED therapy (a new feature that is a welcome one that is even FDA approved). Have I noticed a difference with LED therapy? Not sure, but I am not going to dispute it works.
I really do love how the attachments go into this gun; they twist and lock so there is not going to be any instances where it pops off mid massage. Not only that, but this device is so smart, that it actually will recognize what attachment you put in! I was pretty blown away by that, it only works with the heat, vibration, ice ones, but because of that, it lets you customize the levels to those specific attachments like the heat level, the vibration intensity etc. The app is probably the best way to get the most of this device. There are dozens of differences preset routines that Therabody made that allow you to target specific areas or work on your sleep or breathing/meditation. These have immensely helped me recover faster after intense weight lifting sessions. Normally, after 48 hours I would be quite sore as the lactic acid built up. But as long as I use this massage gun right after my workout and the day after for 10-15 minutes on the areas that I worked on, the level of soreness dropped to almost non-existent.
This is definitely the best massage gun out there, and probably will be for the foreseeable future. Therabody did a great job with this gun. The only complaints I have are minor. For one, the LCD screen scratches way too easy which is a bummer. I also don't like how it defaults to turning the LED light therapy on, I wish it would default to off as it is not needed for every single session and is annoying when you are working on your neck and the light just blinds you.

Great Earbuds missing key Features
on October 9, 2023
Posted by: BPTech
The Bose QC Ultra earbuds are overall, a solid pair of earbuds with superb sound quality, incredible noise cancelation, and long term comfort while in ear. However, there are a few quirks that knock off a star on these earbuds which I will get into later. Let's start off with the positives of these earbuds.
PROS:
The sound quality is quite impressive on these earbuds. They deliver a large soundscape that would be similar to an over the head pair of headphones with exceptional clarity in the mids and highs and a surprisingly deep and boomy bass. Compared to my Airpods Pro 2, the sound quality is definitely better. The app allows you to customize the EQ to your liking, although it does not allow you to control more than three "Frequency" (ranges). Low, mid, and high are your only options, which is fine, but for audophiles, they might want to control more specific frequencies.
The earbuds are actually pretty comfortable. I do have an issue with the right ear not sealing as well, but after adjusting some of the extra rubber pieces, I was able to fix this issue. I wore them on a flight for 7 hours without issue. My ear was slightly sore, but not too bad. The noise cancellation on them during the flight was superb, I made a custom mode to set the noise cancellation to max, and I could not hear anything, way better ANC than any earbuds I have ever used.
CONS
- As many others have mentioned, no multipoint connections. What this means, is you can only connect to one device at a time and cannot seamlessly switch between say your phone and your laptop, which is insane to think this is not a feature for such a premium product with a premium price point.
- No wireless charging!? This was a devastating thing to learn, it is 2023, the tech exists in so many products, why was this not included? Yeah yeah you can buy a case SEPARATE but that is just not a good business model that will make customers happy.
- These can be a little buggy at times when you first put the buds in. Many times I have had to take the buds out of my ear, back in the case, and then back out to get them to properly sync together. Sometimes only 1 pod connects, or the other pod will take a minute to sync. Pretty annoying, but I am confident that a future firmware update will fix this.
- Spatial sound... I just do not like how it was implemented. The "fixed" mode is anything but. When you say "fixed" one would assume that head movement would not impact the spatial stereo effect, but nope, you move your head 1cm, the sound shifts. I expect this on movement mode, but NOT fixed. Take note from Apple Bose... Apple perfected the spatial sound technology, I much prefer that to Bose's take, it has some work that needs to be done on it to make it comparable. Sound quality changes dramatically, and for the worse.
Overall, these are a great pair of earbuds. If you already have some high end earpods like airpod pro 2, honestly, stick with them unless you are an extreme audophile.

A Simple and Great Security System
on September 8, 2023
Posted by: BPTech
The SimpliSafe 9 piece whole home security system is the perfect all in one security system bundle out there today. I used to use the big competitor (you can guess who...) for years before I switched to SimpliSafe. The SimpliSafe system is all around easy to use, easy to set up, easy to manage, and provides excellent security safeguards to protect your home.
Let's start by going over the setup process. Setup was a breeze, honestly easy enough that your aging parents might be able to do it! Everything is self-explanatory and very well detailed in the instruction process via the app. Just take out the battery strip for sensors, press the button on the cameras and keypad, and follow the instructions in the app. I was able to have the entire system up and running including setting up all sensors and the camera's within an hour. Did not have any issues in setup, everything was smooth and easy.
Using the alarm is easy, it integrates with Alexa, and I use it with my home bridge for Siri (not officially supported). The keypad is very advanced, compared to other systems, sleek in design. The camera's work very well, and the privacy shutter on the indoor camera is the best thing since sliced bread. Being able to have a privacy shutter active and tied to certain arming modes is great for protecting your privacy whilst at home. Who wants to be recorded 24/7 while watching TV? I have it set to only record in away mode for the most privacy/protection possible.
So far after a month, everything has worked as expected and had absolutely no issues with false alerts, firmware upgrade failures, setting up new devices, etc. This is most definitely an upgrade over the other brands that are out there. While it is more expensive, it is justified in the quality of the products that SimpliSafe makes and the easy of use. Definitely get this alarm system if you are new to the ecosystem of home security, or just want to upgrade your older existing system. It is a great deal, and way cheaper than going down the "professional" route.

Blazing Fast Speeds in a Tiny Package
on August 30, 2023
Posted by: BPTech
Portable SSDs have come a long way since their advent. The two biggest way's they have changed over the years is; size and speed. The Crucial X10 provides vast improvements in both of those categories. After unboxing the product, I honestly could not believe how small this thing was! It is no bigger than a credit card, actually a little smaller, fits in the palm of your hand, and can easily be traveled with on the go. This is a great feature for a traveler who needs their files on the go, think a DJ, someone in multimedia who needs all their files, business, maybe you want to put some movies for a plane ride, etc. The speeds on this device are fantastic for a USB C device. I will warn you, to get the maximum speeds you are going to need at least a USB 3.2 header on your motherboard or device, otherwise, it will negotiate the speed down on a slower channel. I have tested on both USB3.2 and an older gen1 type-c connection. The speed is half (about 1100 mbs) on a gen1 connection while a newer connection will yield speeds over 2000mbs write/read.
I was able to transfer about 100gb of video files from my onboard NVME SSD to this device in about 2 minutes on a older gen1 connection.
If you are in the need for a large capacity portable SSD that will fit in your pocket and provide you with blazing fast speeds for an affordable price, you absolutely need to pick one of these up. Gone are the days of thumb drives, long rein the micro sized SSDs like the Crucial X10.

Just Another Echo
on August 15, 2023
Posted by: BPTech
I have been using Alexa for many years now and have tried many different generations and iterations of the Echo. I've done the dot, the flex, the pop, the show, you name it. The pop is the newest line of Echo devices from Amazon that has a great design where the speaker now is forward facing instead of a cylinder. This makes hearing Alexa and whatever she plays/does easier and more projecting. This works great as an alarm clock because you can simple tap the top of the echo and it will turn your alarm off.
There really is not anything different feature wise from this and all the other type's of echo devices out there. The sound quality is slightly better than the dots, however, the voice recognition ability of Alexa still is pretty bad. I have had this issue with all my echo dots, and still have this issue with an echo pop. Commands get ignored, or she just completely misunderstands them and does something or says something totally different. I would've expected by now that the microphone would be updated and tuned to be more accurate but it does not appear so.
I give this 3 stars because it is not a game changer, it really isn't different than any other Echo device, and it still has the issues that these devices have had for years. Get it if you're new to the Alexa ecosystem, but don't go out of your way to upgrade a newer dot.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Yes i do it all the time for my job, I use sonicwall VPN client and the built in remote desktop and it runs no problem. It is a full OS 8.1 so you can do whatever you can do on a laptop on this.

Can the OS windows 8 be uninstalled and replaced with windows 7?

I really would like to buy the surface pro 3. I do t like the windows 8 OS, before I buy the product I want to make sure I can uninstall the 8 and replaced it with the 7.
No it isn't possible because of drivers and its a special image of Windows 8.1 the surface uses. Why would you want to put an OS like Windows 7 on a tablet? 8.1 was built for something like this. I was like you once all against 7, but trust me, this device was optimized and built for windows 8.1 and you won't be disappointed.
