Excellent tripod... ball head is the bomb!

I ordered this tripod blindly online without even taking a look at it in the stores. I'm a casual DSLR shooter and my gear is a D7000 usually with a 35-140mm lens (both a bit heavier than normal). What I received in the mail was generic no name tripod that came in a brown box packaging with the Dynex name only stated on the single page product manual inside the box. The tripod itself is clean without any branding. But to my surprise, it is very well built. The legs and the center column are triangular and not cylindrical. The legs could be set in three positions. They don't fold 180 degrees like some of the other tripods do. But the best part is the ball head on this tripod. They are smooth for panning, it even has a little bit of friction but its like sliding through butter. The ball head has three adjustment knobs. One for locking the panning, one big one for locking the ball head after positioning and another for adjusting the grip of the ball head movement which is nice and not all tripods with ball head in this price range have three adjustments. And all it takes to lock the ball head in position is a half to a full turn of the bigger knob and my D7000 stays put. I had another branded tripod Ravelli APGL5 in the same price range to compare that doesn't come with such nice ball head. They just have two adjustments for the ball head and it will take more turns either to release or to lock the camera in position, which is not so good experience. The ball head on this really makes using it a pleasure. The rubberized plastic on the knobs have a very good grip to it too. The ball head could be removed from the tripod. The legs even though not too fancy are sturdy too. Does not have spiked point, just a rubber feet (not a big deal). Overall a nice tripod. Good buy for forty bugs even though not on sale.
I would recommend this to a friend!
