Relive life's moments with a Samsung Gear 360 camera, which captures a real panoramic view. When needed, switch to the single-lens mode for a more clear and concentrated photo. With the Samsung Gear 360 camera, it's a simple three-step process to capture, edit and upload your photos to your favorite social media sites.

Serious blurring and slow service ~ outcome tbd

I have been taking 360VR panoramas for over 6 years using DSLR and then Mirrorless cameras with special pano tripod heads. I have over a year of experience using Ricoh Theta m15 and then the Theta S 360VR cameras. I have been eagerly awaiting the Samsung Gear 360. Imagine my disappointment when I find that whenever I use the Samsung Gear360 that the majority of my stills, videos and timelapses show very significant blurring on half the 360 field of view. Having searched for reasons I find that a significant number of other users have found this problem, although my camera seems to be an extreme case in that the blurring happens much sooner and so more frequently. I also got an error message on the app that said lens misaligned.
After trying the Samsung Service phone number given on the Warranty information that came with the camera for four days in a row and not receiving a reply, I searched the Samsung website and found another number, which when called provided me with an RMA and shipping label to return the Gear360 camera to the Samsung Service center in Texas for repair/replacement.
The Gear360 camera was shipped via UPS and was received by Samsung in Texas on 24 August. On the 1st September I received an email that the Service department had now received this, a full 8 days after it arrived, they say that the expected repair date is the 8th September.
I will update this review once I received the Gear360 Camera back from the Samsung Service department. Hence so far only a one star review.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Update September 10th
September 11, 2016
I finally received a replacement Gear360 camera yesterday 9/8/16. Opening the box I was shocked to find that not only was the packing inside the box was in adequate for the size of the very large box, but that the replacement camera was inside a Gear 360 case without any attachment or tripod so that it rolled around loose.
I photographed this lack of proper packing for future reference.
As proceeded to unpack the camera I noticed that the barcoded sticker had a date and time on which seemed strange and on reading that the date was 2016 05 03, which was not a good sign as you will see shortly. On unpacking and initial testing I discovered that the camera had the old firmware version from before the update of June 14th. As I tried to use the camera with the app I found that the connection via the app was extremely difficult to establish and while I got it work once or twice, most of the time it would connect via Bluetooth but then not complete connection to the live view screen and camera controls.
I have attempted to update the firmware via the app repeatedly over the past 24 hours, but due to the incomplete connection, most attempts fail to even download the updated firmware, and on the two or three occasions the download has worked, it then fails load and install on the camera.
