I was looking for a projector setup for summer movies outdoors. I read a lot of reviews and faced a choice of 3 projectors. My main requirements were 1080p, good lumens output, 2 HDMI slots. Wireless and 3D were a bonus feature but all my shortlist had 3D. I chose this based on the other reviews below.
I am perfectly happy with this. We held our first outdoor family movie night. The output lumens were enough to start the movie at dusk and it was perfect. Clean, sharp, bright and plenty of natural color. The blacks were also superb. This outperforms my 65" Sharp Quattron LED and Panasonic Plasma for picture quality and reproduction of blacks. We had it roughly 15ft away from the wall and I would estimate that our picture diagonal was about 15-20ft. Suffice to say that I am perfectly happy with the purchase and would recommend this to anyone. You will not be disappointed.
For the record, I also purchased an open-box Samsung curved soundbar (saving $300) with wireless subwoofer and the sound quality matched the picture. It was a great movie night!

About 3d
This projector said it 3d, i have a hdtv 3d with active glasses, Now my question is what type of 3d is this one? active? or use of blue and red glasses?
Active. You simply 'sync' them with the projector

Using this to watch movies outside & curious if anyone had a better way to set it up? Roku Streaming Stick in the HDMI on the projector. Audio, out of the projector's 3.5mm audio plug to the RCA jacks on the back of a Sony GTK XB7BC powered system.
I looked at the inputs for your Sony and it looks as if you are using it the only way you can.
