Upgrade your home computer to this Asus desktop. It has an Intel Core i7 processor and 12GB of RAM for smooth multitasking between programs, and the 1TB hard drive lets you store documents, photos and other files securely.

A lot of power under the hood for a great price

An i7 processor, dual hard-drive and 12gb of ram for under $1000 is what caught my eye and after two weeks with this machine I can say I'm pleased. I bought the PC at $799 and Best Buy lowered the price to $699 a week later. Since I was in the two-week return policy time-frame, they refunded me the $100 balance so I'm even more satisfied with the price. Now to performance.
If you're a super gamer, professional video editor or doing heavy design work this probably isn't the machine for you. As someone who does a little of all of these things, it's perfect. I've been working on building a game with Unity, doing 3D modeling in Sketchup, using the Adobe suite to edit video and playing a few older Steam games. Throughout all of this, I have seen few hiccups or crashes. I often have Unity and Sketchup open at the same time, editing models and importing them into Unity. While Unity and Sketchup are processing tasks I can still surf the web with minimal slow-down. I've also used the Xbox streaming App and am impressed that I can stream games in a Window while doing other tasks.
The 128gb solid state hard drive means the machine starts up quickly and Windows 10 is very responsive. The 1tb drive for storage gives you a good place to store data that you don't necessarily need to access all the time.
The main issue is size. After years of using the ultra-compact Mac Mini, this machine takes up a lot of real estate on my desk. Also the optical drive seems unnecessary. I don't plan on using discs, like, ever again. At the end of the day I'll probably try to put some more ram in the machine and get a video card but in the meantime, I am looking forward to working on various projects, playing games and surfing the net. Not a perfect machine, but I would definitely recommend it for the price.

Cheap Build, Unresponsive Inputs, Security Issues
on June 7, 2016

Seemed like a great deal -- discrete graphics card and an i7 processor for well under a $1,000. Found it for a great price at Besty Buy and the manager graciously gave me a free year of GeekSquad support. Was very excited and then immediately disappointed. The build looks nice with the brushed metal and backlit keys but once you get your hands on it you'll realize how cheap it feels. It's also heavy and bulky so I didn't feel safe taking it ANYWHERE. The trackpad is unresponsive and the hinges on the screen were so frighteningly weak I didn't even dare fold it back into tablet view for a few days. When I finally did, it was so uncomfortable I switched back and never used it again. One night I just started having a bad feeling about the computer and decided to take it back. The NEXT DAY I saw an article about Lenovo security flaws and guess what laptop was used as the image for the piece? The Lenovo Edge 2. Thank golly for BestBuy's return policy otherwise I'd be stuck with this piece of junk.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
