Bye Bye rental fee

I bought this modem to replace the one I was renting from my cable provider (Cablevision). They were charging me $10 plus taxes a month for a modem that was less capable than this one. I bought this one and it will pay for itself in less than a year. I now own my modem and do not have to pay them a recurring fee to rent theirs. And when they finish channel bonding I am ready.

Roku has done it again. They have gotten a low profile powerful streaming stick. It is small enough to easily pack for traveling. and allows me to bring my favorite channels with me while traveling.

nice streaming stick. not too expensive. not as powerful or polished as the roku stick but still a nice unit for travel. plus the ability to sideload certain programs helps round out the stick for when you are traveling.

I was looking for a way to cut costs on television show. I was paying too much for Cable. I found a way to get the shows that I want to watch and this is a huge part of the solution. This only records broadcast TV. But between this and streaming services, I have more premium channels that I watch and am paying $60 less a month. And I am not locked into a contract

This made the process of cord cutting very easy for me and my wife. I am a bit more tech savvy than my wife and while I am fine switching from device to device to watch television, she wants it all in one device. Being able to stream all the services we use through one device has made it easy for her to keep up with her shows.
The Roku 4 has made it easy to reduce the amount we pay for television and we haven't had any problems with it.

One note through. She thinks the button layout on the remote could be better. The ok button being right under the directional buttons

This is a excellent low cost tablet. bundled with Amazon ecosystem. Low cost. responsive. I use it for light web browsing and making orders on Amazon. Also easy to stream video using amazon video prime, Netflix Hulu, and HBO Now.

I have optimum online internet will this modem work with optimum? I currently have an arris modem from them & pay 4.95 monthly
Yes this will work with Optimum. You will have to call them to provision the modem for your account. Once provisioned and working, you will need to return the arris modem to them and make sure you get a receipt for the return. The will note your account that you are using your own modem and you will not pay the rental fee.
Please note that this modem does not support Optimum Voice, so if you are using that service you will not be able to get it with this modem.

my Roku stick keeps freezing. It is always with trying to change movies, pause, re start, search. I have tried everything please help me ! I am very frustrated and thinking of returning it. would Roku 4 work better?
The Roku stick is less powerful (less powerful processor and less memory) than the Roku 4. The Roku 4 may help you, but before you switch, you may also want to look at your wireless network bandwidth, signal strength, and any possible interference.

Is the Amazon USB Firestick compatible with this unit, and can I record Firestick movies / programs to the DVR?
Unfortunately I have not found a way to records streamed shows on this unit. It will connect and stream movies and shows from Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu, but it will not record them

How do I turn the box on and off
Inside the system settings under power. You can turn the unit off. I haven't had to do so since I got it.
