Works well, one thing to note
on August 2, 2015
Posted by: Keyan
These enclosures do what they are supposed to do. Transfer speeds are very good over USB3, basically as fast as having the drive internal. The metal cases allow heat from the drives to dissapate. The metal cases are my one concern though - if you have them sitting on edge as they are designed to go on a hard surface like a desk there is a LOT of sound transfer. I have them in a shelf and the amount of noise transfer was enough to be distracting. You can hear the drives humming and they rattle and clatter when the drives are going. Fortunately the fix was simple, I just cut a piece of rubber shelf liner and put it under them and now they are as quiet as I would expect them to be. That would be the one improvement I would make, rubber feet on the bottom of the cause would avoid this issue entirely.

Powerful Mobile PC
on July 27, 2015
Posted by: Keyan
This laptop is a beast of a machine. It's no ultrabook - this is a machine built for performance and it is thicker and heavier than your typical laptop. Depending on your use case, the tradeoff is more than worth it. For me, it was finally time to replace my 6 year old custom built desktop. My life now isn't as conducive to sitting for long hours in front of a desktop and I was finding that I didn't get much use out of my PC because of it. This laptop can replace all but high end dedicated gaming desktops with ease. It has a well sized SSD for boot and for you to use for other apps you want to load quickly - the 256gb size is good for this type of use. It also has a 1TB spinning HDD. 1TB is pretty typical for most laptops with spinning HDDs in laptops, but this one spins at 7200 rpm, making it a higher performance drive like a desktop would typically have.
The CPU is also more similar to a desktop than a typical laptop. Most laptops that have Core i7 processors have slower speed CPUs that are only a dual core with the ability to run two threads for "4-way processing". This laptop has a true quad core i7 with dual threads for "8-way processing". It can also ramp up to a higher speed and has a larger local cache, which allows the CPU to fetch commonly used data more quickly. The 16gb of RAM is enough to easily run the most demanding applications.
The graphics on the laptop are impressive. The GTX 970M can run most games very well, and if you really need full desktop class graphics this laptop can be hooked to the Alienware graphics accelerator which allows for a desktop graphics card to render graphics. The 970M has 3 gig of GDDR5 and can also support CUDA acceleration for highly parallel non-graphics applications, such as photo and video editing. Many of the step down tier of laptops I looked at that have discrete graphics processors and dedicated memory only use DDR3, which is much slower for graphics applications.
A final note on the graphics - the display on this laptop is amazing. At a higher resolution than a Macbook Pro it is crystal clear with great color and contrast, and it has touch support.
The audio on this laptop is also very good with a Creative Sound Blaster audio controller. This does lead me to my one major concern - the first copy of this laptop I received had a defective headphone jack. After going through support it was determined that it was physically defective and the entire motherboard would have to be replaced. I decided instead to just exchange it for a new one through Best Buy. Moral of the story - always check all ports for proper functionality even if it isn't a port you are going to use often. The second copy works flawlessly and the audio is crisp without any background hiss or other noises from the system bus, as you would expect from a Creative audio controller.
The laptop came loaded with minimal additional software on it, it comes with software to create recovery media and do some data backup and to control the case LEDs and custom keys.
One final note - for all of its size this laptop does not contain an optical drive.
Overall, this is a very powerful and feature packed high end laptop that can replace all but the most powerful desktops and you can take it places. The graphics and display, along with both SSD and spinning hard drives, are the major standout features of this laptop. The only caution is the quality control - make sure that all of the ports are working before your return period is up or else you may be shipping it off to Dell (Alienware) for repair.

Phone ruined.
on June 3, 2015
Posted by: Keyan
I don't write many negative reviews but this case has a major design flaw that renders the waterproof design useless if it failes. This flaw meant my phone got ruined. Waterproof doors should always have a secondary locking mechanism to prevent accidental opening when being used in the water. At some point, despite periodic checks by me, the door came open in my pocket and water got in and killed my phone. It was never even submerged for longer than a minute but it is completely dead now. I should have recognized this before trusting the case with my phone, but I trusted the design and the claims of waterproofing to mean the door would stay put. An expensive lesson.
A simple change to the door to incorporate a sliding lock to prevent the door from being caught by a pocket lining or anything else and coming open would prevent this from happening. It is extremely disappointing that after going through all of the waterproofing checks outlined in the manual and feeling confident in the case to keep my phone protected during some brief use in water that it failed and as a result my phone was destroyed.
Other than that the case is fine, I found the screen cover to decrease accuracy and responsiveness somewhat but not enough to to make the phone unuseable.

Great tough camera, except for video
on February 25, 2015
Posted by: Keyan
This camera is great for stills and it's really fun when you are going to be in a mixed environment with dirt, water, cold, or a situation where it could be crushed in a pocket or pack if you fall. Autofocus is very quick and fairly accurate, overall image sharpness is good from the nice optics that the TG-3 has. The wide aperture when zoomed out is great for lower light situations and under water. The digital compass/GPS/barometer for altitude and water depth are all nice touches. When out taking pictures it is really cool to see where you were and what direction you were facing when you got a specific shot. Like all location based technology just be careful when you use it and how it is shared - geotagging your own home isn't always the best idea, but for vacation use it is really cool.
I do miss full manual controls - the closest this camera can come is an aperture mode where you can keep it wide open, and the AF selections are very limited. There is an "intelligent" tracking mode that tends to miss my subject and then start tracking, or a full auto mode that is the camera's guess as to what I want, or a limited frame right in the center that can't be moved.
My biggest disappointment though is with the movie mode. The new "lower" tier Tough camera will have 60fps, but the TG-3 is limited to only 30, and it is pretty rough with a lot of rolling shutter artifacts. It also will miss focus badly, even at the start of video recording, and doesn't AF well or at all during recording. Considering that this camera is likely the only one you are using in extreme environments, the lack of good video can be a major limitation for some people.
I find it adequate for those times when I really need a super durable camera or I am going to be using a camera in or around water. As a DSLR user I find myself missing a lot of the control I have with that camera when using this one, but the "tough" camera market is pretty limited to mostly or fully automatic cameras that don't offer as much manual control (and the complexity that goes along with it), and this one is one of the best in terms of still quality, optics, and overall features.

Amazing
on February 21, 2015
Posted by: Keyan
Picked this up after a friend told me about it. It is amazingly cool. Running the tutorial and watching the cars stay on the track with no slots or no rails was one of those experiences when you realize just how far technology and robotics have come. The track is large, 3.5' x 8.5', which is a really good size considering the scale and speed of the cars, especially if you are running 4 of them at once. Being able to roll the track up and tuck the whole thing away into the box (which is designed to be how you store the entire kit with well thought out spots for up to 4 cars, the track, charger, and tire cleaner) in a couple of minutes makes this even better - no long track setup. It does require fairly modern devices to run the cars as the cars require Bluetooth 4.0, so check the compatibility list before you buy to make sure it will work in your home. That might be the one drawback to the system, for four players you would be looking at over $1,000 in devices and tracks/cars (4 current iPod touches and the starter kit with 2 additional cars).
I really like that the cars turn themselves on the track and you don't have to worry about braking around the turns, it makes the game much more accessible. My 6 year old son and I are having a blast being on a team and taking on two AI cars - which are surprisingly pretty tough at times.
Overall I am really pleased with the system, it is a great hybrid of a video game and real life toys that are a marvel of technology and my whole family is having a blast with it.

Fantastic power in a compact size
on November 23, 2014
Posted by: Keyan
The new iPad Air 2 is by far the best iPad to date, in fact it is the best iOS device Apple has ever made. I am very impressed with it.
First, the size. This thing is thin. Really thin. As thin as an iPod touch and thinner than any version of the iPhone 6. The rest of the dimensions are the same as the previous iPad air.
The screen is also improved, it really does control glare better and more importantly to me the color is more uniform. The previous iPad Air had a tendency to go from a cooler to warmer color temperature from side to side and this one does not do that. Touch ID is a welcome feature for those who have gotten used to unlocking their device without entering a passcode.
Finally, the processor. The A8X is a monster. A triple core 64-bit CPU, a top end graphics core that when benchmarked is dominating every other tablet out there, and 2GB of RAM. The iPad Air 2 is just a crazy amount of computing power in an almost impossibly thin form factor. The extra memory makes a huge difference when having multiple applications open as they won't reload as often, the same goes for safari tabs, you can have several open and they won't reload when switching between them.
Overall, this is the best iPad ever made and is the most power you can get on any iOS device.

A nice basic case
on October 9, 2014
Posted by: Keyan
For the price I am very impressed with this case. If you want minimalism this is an excellent option. The grippy texture to the sides and matte back make it feel nice in the hand. It adds minimal bulk while providing decent scratch protection. I don't think it would provide a lot of impact protection though as it is very thin. It does provide protection on all four sides though which is a good thing. If you want scratch and abrasion protection in an inexpensive case that feels nice in the hand this is a good option.

Decent case if you like clear
on October 9, 2014
Posted by: Keyan
This is a decent basic case for the iPhone 6P. It has a decent amount of bumper but is still thin through the back and should provide some impact protection while not adding bulk. It does let the excellent design of the iPhone shine through...but that is also the major drawback. Clear cases are lint magnets and somehow lint and other pocket debris always finds its way under the case and after a while they just end up looking dirty. This is what happened to the one I tried for a few days. Overall it is nice if you want a clear case, but be aware of the drawbacks.

So far the best all around case
on October 9, 2014
Posted by: Keyan
This case is the best one I have tried. Excellent balance of bulk to protection. I feel like the phone would survive a decent impact in this case if and when that happens. The case does not add a lot of bulk to the phone at all while covering all sides with well designed cutouts for the camera, mute/lock switch, and the bottom ports. The styling is subtle but distinct and the materials feel durable and good in the hand. Overall I am very happy with the case.

Not very functional
on October 1, 2014
Posted by: Keyan
The material quality is nice and the fit is good, but overall the case just isn't very useable. Contrary to what Best Buy's website says, there is no magnetic closure of any kind, so the cover just flops around. When open, it does not fold flush to the back of the case, which causes it be VERY thick in the hand, anyone who owns a 6P knows that the last thing you need is more bulk in your hand. The card slots are positioned such that the cards will rub against the screen - if you have one of the newer metal core credit cards this could lead to screen damage. Also, while you can in theory close the lid and talk on the phone using the cutout in the cover, you cannot access the volume buttons with the lid on. This makes it very hard to use when taking a phone call as you have to open it, answer the call, close it, and then hope the volume level is acceptable. It's a nice idea but overall the case makes using the phone harder, which isn't what a case should do.

$30 for a piece of plastic that broke.
By CmdrJones from New York, NY
Bought this in October when I bought my iPad.
It developed a crack within a few days, apparently because it installed and removed it a couple of times when I was applying a screen protector.
The other day it developed another crack that left a piece of plastic sticking out by the volume control. It's completely useless.
Emailed Belkin, they said I had to call, so I called. Spent 34 minutes on the phone and discovered they wouldn't replace it without a receipt.
I pointed out that I could send the thing to them (how would I have gotten it, right?) but, no.
Have to say I didn't expect a protective case to break, silly me.
So, the design or materials used thing are defective and I'm out $30.
No more Belkin products for me.

If you bought it from Best Buy they should be able to reprint your receipt, or you can get it from your reward zone/my BestBuy history if you have an account.

Should've been a Day 1 edition...
By kjk91
I like that it has a 1TB SSHD and comes with the new elite controller, but this really should've been a Day 1 edition for the next gen consoles. ESPECIALLY since with the xbox one you have to download all games onto the console even with a disk format compared to a direct purchase from the xbox store. I've had to uninstall and reinstall games over and over just to play a game that I want to because I have about 4-5 core games that I keep on there that I play regularly. 500GB HD on a next gen console is frustrating especially when we had it on the xbox 360.
Overall, I am thinking of getting this if only for the extra hard drive space to store games. If I can't trade in my old xbox one, I may be waiting to get this until the price drops and just dropping $100 on an external hard drive.
In regards to your space concerns
October 6, 2015
You know that you can just plug in an external HDD to your xbox one and store games and apps there, right? Just go get a portable external HDD, plug it into the back, and tuck it away behind your xbox and store your games on that.

I think this should of been day one edition .. This is good for people that are just getting a xbox one but also for hard core gamers for just the elite controller . New focus since Day One
October 6, 2015
The focus of the Xbox team prior to the launch of the XBO was as a media hub of which gaming was just one function. Unfortunately they miscalculated the effect that focus would have on their most vocal and dedicated fans. Since then they have rededicated their focus to gamers and gear heads who appreciate the options of a hybrid SSD and the elite controller. It's actually pretty remarkable what they have done in 2 years in terms of feature enhancements to the console and this new line of Elite console versions and accessories that are focused on the gaming community.

Perfection
By Keyan
The Xbox already has one of the most well designed controllers out there, and this one refines it to perfection. Everything about this exudes quality, from the high end packaging, to the case, to the controller itself. It is a joy to hold and you immediately get a feeling of quality and fit and finish that is unparalleled in Xbox controllers. All of the interchangeable parts lock in magnetically, no friction tension parts to wear out, no wondering if it is going in the right way, they just lock into place and are secure but easy to remove when you want to customize the controller. The long throw sticks are perfect for driving games or other precision uses, and the two profiles allow for on the fly switching of sensitivity, a great feature for running around and then switching to a lower sensitivity mode for careful aiming. The mappable under paddles mean you can map buttons that would normally take your thumbs off of the sticks to your other fingers. The hair trigger locks are great, I tend to set the right one for hair trigger and the other for long throw for aiming.
I also like that this controller, like all of the other Xbox controllers, just uses two AA batteries. Sealed in batteries means that you can't just swap in new ones and keep going - and when they eventually wear out, it means a new controller. I use high capacity rechargeable batteries in mine. It also comes with a nice long braided USB cable if you need to use it wired.
This controller allowes for you to customize it exactly to your gaming style and it is the ultimate Xbox controller. Recommended for gamers who are looking for the very best and are willing to pay the price for this controller.
No I wasn't paid
October 29, 2015
Oh no, someone likes something on the Internet, they must be paid for it! No, I spent my own money on the controller and am just that impressed by it.
I did realize after posting that I didn't say anything negative and I was waiting for a comment like this to come along. If I had one negative it is the soft touch finish on the controller. It makes it feel great in the hands but it shows fingerprints if there is any oil at all on your hands, so it will need a wipe down with a microfiber cloth to keep the oils from breaking down the finish and to keep it from looking nasty.

Works but 3.5 HD is not very snug.
By RSS060609
The speed is great but the drive sits in the case pretty loosely.
Agreed
October 30, 2015
I found this too. I've had this with other enclosures by other manufacturers too, the solution I have found is to go to a hardware store and get a package of the "extreme" all weather heavy duty Velcro, cut a couple of small pads out of the "soft or fuzzy" side of the velcro, and stick them to the far end of the HDD that goes into the enclosure (over the platter area if you know where that is) - do not stick it to any exposed circuit boards or directly over the motor in the center of the platter area of the drive. That will act as both a sound dampener and it will fit in there very snugly. Makes the enclosure quieter and the drive won't rattle around.

The Smart Cover for the 9.7-inch iPad Pro is constructed from a single piece of polyurethane to protect the front of your device. The Smart Cover automatically wakes your iPad when opened and puts it to sleep when closed. It folds into different positions to create a stand for reading, typing, or watching videos. And it’s easy to remove, so you can snap it on and off whenever you want.

It's a Smart Cover...
By Keyan
It does exactly what you would expect it to. As some others have mentioned it slightly overlaps the edges of the Pro - this is by design as Apple seems to assume you are going to also get the silicone back cover. With the back cover it fits perfectly to form a complete cover for the iPad Pro. One nice change in this generation is that the Smart Cover will magnically lock to the back of the iPad when it is folded open - although I don't like that my hands are against the felt the entire time it is flipped open as it will probably get dirty over time. I usually just pull it off when I am using the iPad and want it out of the way. The cover has a nice feel that matches the back shield cover. Overall it is exactly what you would expect. It and the back shield add up to a ridiculous price though, coming in at about $110 for little more than scratch protection.
Slight correction

Can only do what the source can output

A 4K monitor, just like a 4K TV, can only run at the resolution the source device can output and is also potentially limited by the cables used between the devices. An Xbox cannot output 4K yet - only the Xbox One S will be able to output at 4k, and it will require that any devices between the TV and the Xbox (such has a receiver) support 4K, along with the cables between components.
As someone who owns this monitor, I can tell you that it supports 4K just fine, and performs very well.

Enjoy desktop gaming power on your Alienware laptop with this Alienware 452BBRG graphics amplifier, which supports most full-length, dual-wide PCI-Express x16 graphics cards. The 4 USB 3.0 ports provide room for additional accessories.

Its great. Setup was easy. I have a 1070 in it right now. The 1070 will play just about anything at 1080p with ultra settings. Don't use the amp as a docking station or you will hinder performance in games. Looking at youtube videos you can expect to attain about 70 to 85 percent of the cards power. Still its better than the 970m or 980m. The locking mechanism is really bad though. Hard to open and when you do it makes a sound like you broke it.
Why no docking station

Looking at the riser card and how this registers to the system, I'm pretty sure the USB portions of the Amp have dedicated conductors in the cable, meaning they will be on a separate path from the 4 PCIe 3.0 lanes that feed the graphics card. It shouldn't make any difference in game performance at all. What source did you find that indicates otherwise?

MY dog chewed up the antenna for the x-box live. Can that be replaced?

You will probably just need to buy another wireless adapter if it's not working anymore.

can you play any games of xbox with only a 4g hard drive

Yes, you can play just about every game, I think the only one that might not work is Halo Reach if you want to play Co-Op mode as it requires a hard drive to be present. It's a bug but I am not sure if it is fixed. You will be limited on what downloadable content you can store on the console and there is not enough space to install games which lowers their load time and stops the optical drive from spinning. You can either add up to a 16gb flash drive (make sure it's a compatible version) to the console for more storage or add the 250gb harddrive for $130 later.
