Great, but minor note for Mac users!

I quit! As a full-time photographer, I need my images backed up, using more than one method. For years I've backed up my images on an external drive, and DVD's. As file sizes have gotten larger, and since I shoot in RAW and not JPEG, it isn't unusual to have one wedding exceed 30 GB. Now, think of the time involved in burning 7 to 10 DVD's of each wedding that I photograph. Of course, the external drives are not solid state, so are susceptible to lost data. Effective today, I quit DVD backups.
Now that thumb drives have gotten much larger, and much cheaper, I've switched to backing images onto these large thumb drives. Speed to back up my files is so much quicker. USB 3 is a great asset as well. Who knows how much longer we'll be able to read DVD's (remember Floppy disks, Zip disks, Syquest?) Having a handful of these will cover a year of photos and video.
The one caveat for Mac users is, you will need to erase and reformat this thumb drive before using it on your Mac. No biggie, just go to your disk utilities and erase the drive.
I can't tell you how excited I am to reduce the time I spend burning endless DVD's! One week could be an event and a wedding, and involve 8 hours of DVD burning, a little bit at a time.
By the way, I encourage you all that if you shop at Best Buy, that you purchase there as well. Don't use some on-line store that doesn't offer face to face shopping, and a staff that is able and willing to answer your questions.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Slow
By SaeS
Pretty good price for a large memory card. However, it is supposed to be fairly fast... Nope! Not remotely! Very slow in Nikon dslr during RAW. Also, when I changed it out, it was much hotter temperature than any other sd card I have used.

Card, or camera?
October 7, 2016
This could be helpful, or useless, depending on several things:
1. Do you mind sharing the camera model? It could be it is the buffer that is slowing it down.
2. What is your file size that you're creating, and how quickly are you shooting? It could be that you're shooting a D810 (which creates huge RAW files) and using their 5 frames per second mode to shoot sports for 24 frames at a time. For a portrait photographer this wouldn't be an issue.
3. Were you shooting video? 4K? If this is the case, for a non-video shooter, or a video shooter who only shoots at 720, or 1080p, it might be fine.
It really helps to figure out what is causing the slowdown. I'm pretty sure a studio shooter, who fires single frame jpegs for an online gallery would do fine with this, as would anyone who shoots only JPG images.
Thanks for any additional information you can give.

What is the write speed on this? I see the transfer speed and read speed is 70 right? What does the 1 vs the 3 on the cards mean? Just higher speed rating?

If you shoot JPG images, these speed things don't matter much. If you shoot video in 720 or 1080p, you shouldn't have any issues with this card. U1 is slower, and U3 is fastest.
