I was led to these earbuds by the claims of stellar sound quality. While these drivers are capable of drawing details and instruments from your favorite tracks that you'd never heard before, they do so on an incredibly narrow and unfulfilling frequency range. I had trouble finding the "thunderous bass" I had read about unless I pressed and held the buds into my ears. Any earbud is going to have more bass when you do this, btw, no matter the price tag. The highs are present but upper treble is non-existant. I've diligently made sure they're snug and fully inserted into my ear canal, tried all tip sizes, cleaned my ears, spent hours trying to find the perfect positioning -- nothing. My stock Samsung earbuds that came with my GS4 sound better, with the exception of providing a little less layering in the sound. This was surprising given the manufacturer's reputation and the $100 price tag.
I think (hope) my ear canals are incompatible with these headphones and this just boils down to a perfectly good product being physically incompatible with my ears. Can't say for sure.
A little about me: I've been an appreciator of good sound since I was a kid, though I don't feel justified calling myself an audiophile because I've never had piles of money to throw at equipment. I appreciate good sound more than I appreciate a brand name. I find the Beats line pretty laughable, if that tells you anything. I'm usually one to keep my opinions to myself, but this time I found myself disagreeing with all these reviews so I thought I'd offer my 2 cents.
