This case is one of the best cases you can buy from Best Buy. I tried some of the other cases, but almost all of them sacrificed use of the kickstand in favor of protection (or were just plain flimsy). Otterbox hit the right cross between protection and usability with this case. It is one of the pricier options, but you do get what you pay for. My only complaint is one that is shared with the other reviewers on here: The bottom portion that protects the kickstand grips the tablet very tightly when in the closed position and takes a bit of finesse to get it to let go and allow the kickstand to move out. I believe I will take a razor blade and trim some of the silicone away so it does not grip so tightly. The grip out of the box is so tight that you have to flip the device over and grab each corner individually and apply firm, even pressure for the corner to let go. The keyboard cover fits beautifully into the provided type cover case and even retains its full range of motion so it can flip over behind the Surface when using it in tablet mode. Overall a great case and a great value. As with all important purchases, make sure to visit your local Best Buy and inspect the case in person and see if it will meet your particular needs. I was lucky enough to be able to take the various cases that they had on display and put them on the display model to verify fit and usability (though I was especially careful in making sure that every piece went back into their respective boxes).

Would this case also fit, and properly protect, the Surface Pro 3?
No, this particular case would NOT fit the Surface Pro 3. Microsoft moved the location of the volume buttons when they designed the Surface Pro 4, so this case would have the volume buttons in the wrong location and therefore would not fit your Surface Pro 3. I don't believe that Best Buy sells the Otterbox case for the Surface Pro 3 anymore, but you can easily find it online or from Otterbox's own website.
