Didn't last and no support

Purchased as a gift. The drive became non-responsive after 3 months. The store offered to replace the drive, but all the data stored would be lost unless I paid $100 to recover it. It did not live up to its requirements and then we were charged for saving data that the drive was supposed to do in the first place. Suppose I need a backup for the backup now.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My laptop and PC no longer recognizes my seagate backup harddrive

I purchased a Seagate 2TB external drive 2 years ago. Now, neither my laptop and PC no longer recognize it.
At least you got 2 years out of it. I only got 3 months before it stopped talking. Store will replace it, but want $100 to extract all the data saved on it. What a waste of money. Sorry I have no answer to solving your problem.
