I've installed two of these over the past couple years. Each started strong and then stopped functioning in one way or another. First one stopped connecting to my wifi after many months of using it. I can't explain why. Ring actually gave me a Wifi Chime but unfortunately I dropped the Ring doorbell while reprogramming it and it stopped working altogether. I purchased a replacement. I installed the new one and it worked perfectly...for a few weeks. I get a pop-up message from the app that my Ring doorbell battery is running low...even though it's hardwired. I just spent a few hours rewiring it, flipping the diode back and forth, but it won't activate my hardwire doorbell, and it won't recognize the doorbell power. The hardwire doorbell still works fine if I cross the wires, so the problem has to be with the Ring. I've spent too many hours trying to debug this thing. I'm back to my old fashioned doorbell which is by far more reliable than Ring. Excellent idea, but unfortunately the product just isn't there yet.

This was a decent receiver while it worked, but I've had two duds now. The first one worked for less than one week and then it wouldn't turn on. Best Buy was excellent and replaced it with a new one. The replacement worked for about a month and now it, too, won't turn on. If it happened once I'd say it's an anomaly, but not twice. Just about every piece of AV equipment I have is Sony, but this is junk. Sony should be embarrassed.
