Got the AS50 for X-mas, and since I have a history of being rough with my gear, I got this as a safeguard. I don't know if I will ever use it, so it will stay in my case until the need arises. Built just as well as the one that came with the camera (probably cause it is).

Surprising amount of features for an entry lvl cam

Just to get out of the way, this is not a GoPro in case you haven't figured that out for yourself, I have no problem with it not being a GoPro, and considering I paid 150$ for this product versus 300$ due to brand recognition, and I don't regret it. This camera is considered "entry-level" in comparison to Sony's full action cam line, which includes 4k recording now. With that, I am good, I don't plan on making documentaries with it. I do some home improvement instructional videos, and even a palm sized camcorder became tedious to lug around and adjust to a bipod. With this, the included waterproof cover and the headband/helmet mount, I can work with both of my hands, and the lens is protected by a clear plastic case.
Speaking of the clear case, this thing is awesome and a detriment at the same time. On one hand, I dont have to worry about a nail flying up and smacking it, getting sawdust and dirt all over it., or even falling in a random pond that suddenly springs up in my backyard. On the other hand, you should not have this thing going too long inside the case, after filming for 7 minutes, I took the headband off and the clear case was noticeably hot. So lesson learned there, don't do an hour long docudrama in the waterproof case. Piggybacking on that, I have yet to throw this thing in a pool or take a bath with it...I somehow think my channel would not get many likes if I did that.
There is an accessory out there, called a Live View Remote, looks decent enough, connects to the camera, a little bigger than a wristwatch. But, lets face it, are you going to spend 50$ (Version 1) or 150$ (Version 2) when you have a smart phone? Probably not. I can tell you the app does everything the LVR does, possibly more. It still does lag some when connected to your phone, but once you import your video, it plays smoothly.
There is still a plethora of features I haven't messed with, slow-motion, time-lapse, etc. But the coolest thing I did was mount this on my rifle for hunting, granted, I had to go to the third party market for a mount, but if you do enough research, you'll track down a good one.
Bottom line, not all of us can afford a GoPro, and there are options out there less expensive than even this one. Heck, you can buy a GoPro attachment so you can make this Action Cam fit with GoPro accessories for around 10-15$ if you choose. This is a very good camera that will do the average enthusiast justice.

This Sony BLTCHM1 clip head mount kit includes a headband and hook attachment, so you can mount your Action Cam to a cap, goggles or directly to your head. A dial screw roll allows you to adjust the camera angle for shooting from multiple perspectives.

Even though I knew it wasn't compatible...

Let me just say, out the gate, that I knew this was not compatible with my AS50 model, but I had already purchased the "universal" kit, I figured this would come with some attachments I did not have. I was right, and I got a spare headband in case the other wears out.
The problem with this and many other accessories is product saturation. Sony and other companies will put out multiple "grades" of a product, and offer lots of accessories, but aren't exactly 100% clear on what each accessory is compatible with. This is where I feel Sony can really overtake the market. But they're clearly content with how things are going, and Sony isn't going anywhere, anytime soon.
The price of this for the headband and base mount is worth it, even if you are like me and bought several accessories, just to take them apart and play "Action-cam Legos" like i do.

Forget SF4, MMA is back!

Wow, I cannot believe this finally came out! Finally, a decent fighting game that is not terribly difficult or horribly easy! I hear the SF4 commercials calling SF the "Original MMA game". Please, thats about as strategic as a shovelware FPS. This is true MMA, grapples, take-downs, blocks, jocking for position, strikes, submissions, and the freakin kitchen sink is in there too. While I do think the controls are good for the game, it will be a little difficult for people new to the UFC to grasp them in minutes. (i.e, repositioning in guard, half-guard etc.) To those of us who really watch the sport, the controls will make sense, while sometimes inconsistent at times, will feel more natural as time goes on. Other than that, the flash knockouts are a little too easy to pull off, and the lack of a middleground between difficulty settings is either too hard or too easy. Good luck, this is as real as it gets!
What's great about it: its UFC, great GFX and character models, challenging, 80+ fighters to choose from
What's not so great: Controls are...different, career mode kind of a snooze, no middle ground in difficulty

Gears on Mars?

If you liked the first Red Faction for PS2, please find your fun elsewhere. I was a great fan of RF, and not so much for its lackluster sequel. This seems to me like a bad Gears of War clone, cover system is hit or miss, aiming is funky, or squirrely if you will. The enviromental destruction is cool, but it really brings nothing unique to the table for me. I would say give the demo on PSM a shot. I did, and got a chance to play the nearly completed build and was highly unimpressed, became more frustrated than anything else. The graphics are muddy, the sound on a 5.1 setup frustrates due to hearing an enemy in one direction and turning to find nothing there but bullets pecking at your spine. If you love this game, get it, but dont hold your expectations too high.
What's great about it: Cover shooter, destructible enviroments, TPS
What's not so great: bad Gears clone, GFX muddy and inconsistent, aiming is squirrelly

does best buy fix camcorders??

They will take your camcorder if broken, the Geeks will try to trouble shoot it there. If they cant do it, they will send it off to either the company or a subcontractor for repair...

So yes and no.

what kind of camcorder would analyze a golf swing, video football, softball, basketball, and soccer games.

You want something that can do 60 Frames Per Second at minimum, additionally, you can get handheld camcorders that can slow motion 120 Frames Per Second. That should allow a good analysis.

Shoot video in ultrahigh 4K resolution with the Sony 4K Expert Handycam. The advanced Exmor R sensor delivers outstanding image clarity and reduces artifacts and noise for a great-looking, consistent video. Use the 29 mm wide-angle lens for up to 12x optical zoom, which ensures your Sony 4K Expert Handycam captures all the action.

Can the camers records mp4 and displays on tv .any issue on tripoding and shooting?

The camera does MP4 as default, there are a couple other options, as well.

Also, the AS50 does have a standard screw insert that fits common bipods. Even if it doesn't fit yours, there is most likely an adapter out there somewhere that will square you away.

Will my grandson be able to put this on a helmet for skiing, skating, cycling, kayaking, etc ? Will there be any issues downloading to an Android device?

Absolutely. There are several mounts available (sold separately, of course) that can accommodate all of the above. And there is literally a helmet-compatible strap. Additionally, there is a reasonably priced (10-15$) attachment you can find on Amazon and other sites that allow you to use GoPro accessories. It isn't needed, but since GoPro has many options, in comparison to the handful offered by Sony, it would be a safe investment.

If he is into kayaking, this camera DOES come with a waterproof housing.

As far as downloading video to your phone, there is a 'Play Memories" app that you can download for free (QR code in the instruction manual).
